Shirebound! I love this little ficlet. I can really see this scene happening in Rivendale at the start of the quest. You can feel that the interaction between Aragorn and Frodo is just starting but there is a wonderful sense of trust already forming between the two. Very enjoyable. MM

Thank you so much! I'm delighted that this scene rings true for you. Sometimes small moments between people can reveal so much.

A library with a fire and a big chair to sleep in -- I'm pretty sure there'll be a spot like that in heaven ... ;-) The scene in Bree where Aragorn says to the hobbits that he hoped they might trust him for himself because others often did not -- not with his 'rascally look':-P -- is probably one of my key scenes which cemented my mental picture of Aragorn. His humor, his 'Ranger looks', his handling of situations... I loved his character from that moment. And of course Frodo did decide to trust him, because he was already wise in the ways of relating to people ... Enjoyed, thanks for writing!

I loved that scene too, because it tells us so much about Aragorn and his prior experiences with mistrustful people. The Rangers were so unappreciated and unthanked... at least in fanfic we can give them their due! Thank you very much for reading and reviewing. :)

Oh, I love this. It is such a heartwarming scene. Friendship and trust really are rare commodities. I like your Frodo and Aragorn. They sound true.

Author's reply

Thank you! I love writing scenes that show Frodo and Aragorn's friendship developing.

JUst lovely! I adore your Aragorn stories.

Author's reply

Thank you very much. I'm rather insatiable when it comes to the Frodo - Aragorn friendship, and all the small moments the Professor let us imagine for ourselves.

There are many gifts that Sauron will never know nor understand. A sweet little scene between the two new friends.

Author's reply

Thank you. I love these gentle, quiet moments.

This is so sweet! I love the image of Frodo curled up with a good book, sleeping by the fire. And I love the friendship here and Aragorn's disavowal of his childhood pranks. One of Frodo's spiritual gifts was discernment of spirits and here that is recounted well. Indeed the one that called himself Lord of Gifts would never know again such love as he had abandoned when he had forsaken his Creator. Frodo is much more aptly named that. Thanks, my dear! :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

I love the image of Frodo curled up and sleeping in front of a fire, especially if one of his dear friends is there to watch over him. Frodo is much more aptly named that. Oooh, I like that. Thank you, Antane.

Loved the short ficlet...now I also wonder if there's a book in Elrond's library about Aragorn! The mention of a young Aragorn stuck in the bell tower pretending to be Earendil was hysterical!

Author's reply

Thanks, Lisa. It was fun thinking up an escapade for young Aragorn that would make Frodo smile.

Loved this story, Frodo looking for books on the Dunadain. Got a good laugh when Aragorn told him not to believe any story about a boy who stole Elrond's circlet and climbed a tower, and had to be rrescued. Made my evening!

Author's reply

Thanks, Grumpy! :)

Ah, lovely! A nice smile, while on my way to bed. (And why do I suddenly see Isildur looking very much like Boromir, in my mind's eye? Of course, Frodo found quite a likeness between Aragorn and Boromir, didn't he?)

Author's reply

Glad this made you smile! And... Happy Birthday!!

A lovely look at the relationship between Aragorn and Frodo. I have always loved the trust between them. “Should you happen to come across a tale about a child who climbed to the top of the bell tower wearing Master Elrond’s best feastday circlet, pretended to be Eärendil until hours past bedtime, was afraid to climb down again, and had to be rescued by Erestor, I can assure you that it is a complete fabrication.” *giggles* I can just see little Estel doing that! I'm surprised Rivendell was still standing!

Author's reply

I think Aragorn and Frodo must have both been quite exuberant youngsters... yet another thing these two have in common. Thanks, BB! These small moments are such fun to write about.

Estelcontar · 16 January 2010 · Chapter 1: The Lord of Gifts

As I told you before, I really enjoyed this most thoughtful tale. It gives us such an insightful glimpse of Aragorn's and Frodo's friendship. I'm sure it must have meant the world for Aragorn to be trusted without assurances, and your story showed us just that most touchingly. Well done.

Author's reply

Thank you. It speaks volumes about Frodo's perception, and how Aragorn's inner nature must have shone through, that Frodo believed he was a friend nearly from the beginning.

Andrea · 16 January 2010 · Chapter 1: The Lord of Gifts

Worthy of trust, and friendship...two of the rarest and most valuable gifts of all. Very true! And also two of the main topics of LOTR (in my opinion). A nice little story that tells us a lot about Frodo and Aragorn and their beginning friendship. AND ... a funny glimpse into young Estel's "adventures": “Should you happen to come across a tale about a child who climbed to the top of the bell tower wearing Master Elrond’s best feastday circlet, pretended to be Eärendil until hours past bedtime, was afraid to climb down again, and had to be rescued by Erestor, I can assure you that it is a complete fabrication.” LOL!!!

Author's reply

It was fun to come up with one of Estel's (many, I'm sure) "adventures"! Being surrounded by so many Big Folk might have seemed quite intimidating to the hobbits, and I like to think that Aragorn would come up with ways to make them more comfortable around him. I'm glad you enjoyed this!

Your view of these two is so very close to my own at this point. Thank you so for this story--one I have a feeling I will reread often!

Author's reply

They're two such very special people, and it's these small moments that can reveal so much. Thank you!

Envinyatar · 16 January 2010 · Chapter 1: The Lord of Gifts

I love these glimpses into the friendship between Aragorn and Frodo and this was well-told, illuminating both of them.

Author's reply

Thank you. I never tire of exploring the growing bond between these two, and ways that might be communicated.

This is such a gentle littl tale, I enjoyed it the first time I read at the Waymeet site and have enjoyed it again. I do like your Aragorn and your Hobbits, they are believeable charecters. Lynda
