Quite the epilogue. Again, thanks for this one, I think.

Larner · 15 January 2010 · Chapter 7: Judgement
What a moral! And not just failed Elves, but failed Men as well! Thanks for a charming, if dark, tale!
Larner · 15 January 2010 · Chapter 6: The King's New Palace
Interesting way for Herod to become Santa, and failed Elves become his Elves....
Larner · 15 January 2010 · Chapter 5: Suffer the little children
Well, Namo offered him the choice....
Larner · 15 January 2010 · Chapter 4: Are you Death?
He's fallen for the tricks of the Deceiver, I see. Poor Herod!
Larner · 15 January 2010 · Chapter 3: The King's Dream
Sauron, Melkor, or Saruman? Seems he might have the heat of Orodruin behind him....
Larner · 15 January 2010 · Chapter 2: The Three Travelers
Herod is indeed having a bad day, isn't he? Three Istari have just escaped, and strange portents have been noted over Bethlehem!
Larner · 15 January 2010 · Chapter 1: The King Who Wanted to Live Forever
I recognize Daeron so far. Now to see who else turns up. Sounds as if this guy is far too much into expediency! Maybe he needs to be deposed!

*Stares at the screen, jaw dropped* This was just... I am without words. May I nominate this story for the Middle-earth Fanfiction Awards next year? Just... Wow!

Dear Rhysylle, Thanks for the review! I was quite pleased with this story but not sure how it would be received on SoA. Very pleased if you want to put it into MEFA. Have a very happy new year! Dadgad

Holy Elbereth, this has to be one of the best Middle-earth/Real World/Christianity fusions I have ever read. Honestly most of the power came from the sheer novelty and creepiness of the Herod/Santa idea, but the touches of elves and wizards were also lovely. What a nice throwback to the old Christmas tradition of ghost stories!

Thanks for the review, Celeritas. We have a good tradition of ghost stories here in Scotland, but much of the inspiration from this one came from Charles Causley's poem. Its been put to music and I have a great version but the British folk duo Show of Hands. All the best for 2010! Dadgad

Wow! Powerful and amusing, dark and yet hopeful at the same time. I had no trouble spotting the familiar characters, but I have to say, I loved the hinted-at identity of the Wise ones... This was just marvelous, and it should be a lesson to some-- who would probably not listen.
