Larner · 28 November 2009 · Chapter 1: Daeron’s Great Idea

Ah, yes! Whatever you did allowed the rest of the page, even the review button, to now be seen! Somehow the other format apparently planted a command after the italics that stopped the rest of the page from loading properly. This is much better! And what a thing to be reduced to--playing at being what one actually is already! Now, to read on!

Author's reply

Glad you are able to read this story now, Larner. We will see how success these particular Elves are in playing themselves. *grin*

ellie · 28 November 2009 · Chapter 3: Getting Acquainted

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! The return of the infamous Elf and the Fruit Vendor. I really wish you would post the verses sometime. The El squared seem to enjoy being the center of attenion - and they actually managed to get drunk? Poor Glorfy having to deal with those two even now. The story is delightful. so just what is verse 31 about? I remember even the Valar had a laough oevr it. Perhaps your muse will grace you with the sordid tale of the hapless elf in said song nad you will share the story with us?

Author's reply

In Elf, Interrupted: Book One, Finrod describes in general what verse 31 was about. I believe it had something to do with turnips. At any rate, this song is really X-rated and not fit for posting anywhere. I think you will just have to use your imagination. Besides, coming up with 31 verses of a song would be a real chore. I am glad to know that you are finding the story delightful so far, ellie. I hope you continue to do so. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it.

ellie · 28 November 2009 · Chapter 2: Welcome to the Northern Lights

What an interesting assortment of roomies they have! I pity them, but I'm not sure who should be pitied more - the mortals or the elves! I can't wait to read more!

Author's reply

They are an interesting bunch, that's for sure. As to who should be more pitied... I guess that remains to be seen. *grin*

Loved Daeron and Glorfi's comments about the twins and Jud's hair style, a bit along the lines of "Don't even think abaht it!"(said with a strong New Jersey accent!) and "Not untill hell freezes over!" Well the twins have made a really good first impression, lets hope Glorfi remembers how to put together one of their fathers tonics to help them get over the affects of too much beer, which must be strong stuff to put those two under the table! More please, Lynda

Author's reply

I had a time coming up with appropriate Sindarin and Quenya phrases that pretty much said just that. *LOL* And it's not that the beer was strong, because Glorfindel says it wasn't, but that they over-indulged on it. Something I think everyone who's been to college or has seen "Animal House" would appreciate. *grin*

6336 · 27 November 2009 · Chapter 2: Welcome to the Northern Lights

Well they have made it to Northern Lights and seem to be settling in O.K. I see Glorfindel still keeps the Twins on a tight rein, a good idea seeing the kind of trouble those two mischief makers could get into! Interesting mix of room mates! More please, Lynda

Author's reply

The twins are a handful even at the best of times and Glorfindel has had a great deal of practice. I found the mix of roomies interesting also. We will see how they and the Elves deal with one another as time goes by.

6336 · 27 November 2009 · Chapter 1: Daeron’s Great Idea

Makes sense to me. Who better than Elves to be elves! Somehow I don't see Glorfindel as owning a mini-van, he strikes me more as the jeep type! Keep them coming, Lynda

Author's reply

Well, with five companions I think the mini-van works better. *LOL* Glad you were finally able to read this, Lynda.

Rhyselle · 27 November 2009 · Chapter 3: Getting Acquainted

ROFL! The infamous verse 31! Well, Glorfindel was saved by the bell--or rather, fortuitous circumstance. I hope that Elladan and Elrohir manage to get to class on time in the morning, and I really don't envy them the hangover they are likely to have. I was quite amused also by Daeron getting lost in the music and the "arcane language" of music line. I like Matt and Lily (they do remind me of folks I know and like!). I'm reserving comment on Shane and the other mortal roomies until I see more of them. Thanks again for a chapter that had me laughing out loud. :)

Author's reply

Hi, Rhyselle. Yes, the infamous verse 31! Saved by the Valar more likely. *LOL* Anyway, I am glad you like Matt and Lily and I hope eventually you come to like the other roomies as well. They all have their good points.

utfrog · 27 November 2009 · Chapter 3: Getting Acquainted

I knew this story would be delightful. Thank you for a much anticipated holiday treat.

Author's reply

Thank you, etfrog, for letting me know how much you are enjoying this story so far. I really appreciate it.

Dreamflower · 27 November 2009 · Chapter 3: Getting Acquainted

LOLOL! Oh my! This is an utterly hilarious bit of crack! Elves learning to be elves, so they can pretend to be humans being elves! And the whole situation in the dorms...this is just too funny! I look forward to more!

Author's reply

Hi, Dreamflower. I am so glad you are enjoying this and looking forward to more. When I came upon the articles about the Elf Academy I just knew that this would be a fun (and funny) story to write. Thanks for leaving a review. I really appreciate it.

Rhyselle · 26 November 2009 · Chapter 2: Welcome to the Northern Lights

*giggle* I really enjoyed this chapter. It brought back some memories of my first attempt at college when I lived in a dorm (the second time around I was married with kids so that made me an automatic comumuter). I rather think that Glorfindel's and the rest of the Elves' appearances might end up being a bit of a distraction when they are in class. I know that I would most definitely be distracted! LOL! I look forward to the rest of this lovely Christmas present, one chapter at a time! And I hope that your Thanksgiving Day was lovely, even if you didn't "celebrate" it the same way over where you are as you might here in the States. Bless!

Author's reply

Thanks, Rhyselle. I am glad to know you are enjoying this story and are looking forward to reading the rest. My Thanksgiving was spent cleaning stalls with Reinhilde. *LOL* But we had a nice dinner consisting of homemade pumpkin soup in which you cut up something that is like a very long and thin hotdog into the soup. This was followed by waffles with hot cherry sauce and whipped cream. Hmmmmm.... Hope your Thanksgiving was just as lovely.

Sunny · 26 November 2009 · Chapter 2: Welcome to the Northern Lights

So our Elves meet their new roomies. I do have an at least slightly similar experiance myself. And _I_ was definitely the weirdo in that situation ;-) No wonder – I grew up far away from even the flyspecks on a map, and my dad was a New Ager before that term was even invented... and “that situation” was officers’ school...( of all the things you didn’t know about your buddies... ;-) ) Hmmmm ... I suspect that each of the Elves will be getting a roommate that is likely to drive him/her crazy. I almost find myself being sorry about Glorfindel. Hei is getting a scared little mouse of a roommate. roommate Glorfy really deserves someone who is deeply into Zen. Talk about being in an intense swordfight with a patch of fog!! ;-) (Sez me, whose xmas present to myself will be _Quantum Physics for Dummies_ ;-) ) At least I suspect young Zack may develop a spine – much to the consternation of his mom and dad!

Author's reply

I think you are being too hard on poor Zach. He is just very shy given his speech impediment. I think Glorfi will be good for him as will the other Elves. We will see in subsequent chapters how things work out for everyone.

Erulisse · 25 November 2009 · Chapter 2: Welcome to the Northern Lights

Horrors...shades and reflections of my own far-away academic experiences: dorms and roommates, shared eating and bathing facilities, and mismatched personalities. It might interest you to know that there is an Elf Academy in Iceland ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icelandic_Elf_School ) and ( http://www.gonomad.com/features/0101/waigand_iceland.html ). If the elves that the students are being taught to see look anywhere close to Glofindel, Elrohir and Elladan, maybe I'll try to scrape up the money? Nah - I think I'm happier letting them play in the Master's and your personal universes, where I always enjoy the intersection of great minds and fluid writing. Namarie - I'm enjoying the entire concept immensely. - Erulisse

Author's reply

I am sure there are other Elf Academies out there *grin* And of course, I have based some of the experiences of the Elves at the college on my own college days. Thanks for letting me know you are enjoying this, Erulisse. I really appreciate it.

Aiwen · 25 November 2009 · Chapter 2: Welcome to the Northern Lights

Very amusing. I thought you might like to know that there actually are at least two Northern Lights schools in Canada. One is a private highschool, the other a college specializing in energy and trades.

Author's reply

Glad you enjoyed this, Aiwen. I am sure Northern Lights is not an uncommon name for schools and such in countries where they are very common.

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 25 November 2009 · Chapter 2: Welcome to the Northern Lights

Atar Fiondil, Getting ready for school (it takes a much shorter time than I give myself *grin*) and I had a few minutes to catch up on Elf Academy, so I decided to see how things were progressing. I behaved myself and studied instead of automatically reading the other day, as you said to (see, I listen to you!) and it seems this story is getting more and more interesting...wonder what the Mortals will think of their Elven roommates and their friends? I will probably have to wait until Saturday to find out, as I'm going out of town tomorrow and will be gone until Saturday morning! If I don't see you around today (which is likely) have a Happy Thanksgiving, Atto. *huggles lots* Tye-melin! Kaylee

Author's reply

Hi Kaylee. Glad to hear you are taking my advice as well as still enjoying the story. We will see how the Mortals react to the Elves over the course of the story. Have a Happy Thanksgiving as well.

purplemaeve · 25 November 2009 · Chapter 2: Welcome to the Northern Lights

I love this story. I gave the first chapter to my daughter to read yesterday and she put the page down and said "Is there more?" I have printed out chapter 2 for her to read on the bus to school tomorrow, I have no doubt it will be a wonderful start to her day. I am very sorry to say that I am the worst ever reviewer but I simply love your Glorfindel stories and eagerly await each new chapter. I also like your Finderato diaries. Hopefully I will soon be able to find the time to tell you exactly why I like them but, in the meantime know that there is a 45 year old mother of 5 who steals time to read your stories :) Maeve

Author's reply

Hello, Maeve. Thank you so much for your lovely review. I quite understand, so don't worry about not reviewing. I appreciate you taking the time to let me know how much you enjoy my Glorfindel stories and Diaries. And I look forward to any review you are able to send. And I am happy to know your daughter likes this story as well.

Tari · 23 November 2009 · Chapter 1: Daeron’s Great Idea

An "ELF" Academy in Finland. How do I get there? ROFL. (I wouldn't go unless our favorite Elves were really there.) This is going to be such fun, allthough it is a bit hard to picture Elves in mondern times. What did they do about their pointed ears and clothes when job hunting? I'm sure they would stand out like a sore thumb if they didn't make some seriou changes in their apperance. What a great idea for a story.

Author's reply

Well, I am sure that they wore the clothes of the times and these days long hair is not considered strange on males. I am sure they managed to hide in plain sight. Glad you like this idea. When I read the article I just couldn't resist.

Sitara · 23 November 2009 · Chapter 1: Daeron’s Great Idea

Hmm...I'll do my best to enjoy this story as well, although, if I know myself a bit, it won't happen. "grim smile" However, I do know the message of your stories and I'm sure enough that, underneath the fluff, someone who cares to look for might find some unexpected treasures. An interesting and quite original plot, Fiondil.

Author's reply

Well, Sitara, the best way to enjoy a story is just to enjoy it, or not. Forcing yourself to like something never works. This story is not to be taken too seriously. It's just a fun romp for the holiday season. So relax and have fun with it.

ellie · 23 November 2009 · Chapter 1: Daeron’s Great Idea

Okay, it would be terribly funny and embarrassing for our intrepid elves if they failed at being elves. I can't wait to read more. What a great idea for our poor unemployed elves... BTW, as you can see the problem with the chapter has been resolved. The first four reviews were left beofre the malfunction with the chapter's web page becuase they were already there when I tried to read the chapter for the first several times.

Author's reply

I am not sure what the problem was. It must have had something to do with SoA itself, because I had not problem accessing the chapter from the webpage as if I were another reader. I am glad it has been resolved and I am glad you were able to finish reading the chapter. I hope you enjoy this little tale and I look forward to hearing what you think of later chapters.

Nikara · 22 November 2009 · Chapter 1: Daeron’s Great Idea

This is an awesome idea for a story! I love reading about the Elves in modern times, and you have such great voices for all of them that this is going to be lots of fun!

Author's reply

Thanks, Nikara. I am glad you think this is an awesome idea. When I first read about the Elf Academy in Finland I knew there was a story there. I hope you continue to enjoy this. Thanks for reviewing. I really appreciate it.

Sunny · 22 November 2009 · Chapter 1: Daeron’s Great Idea

I wonder just _what_ sort of elves they are supposed to be learning to be. I definitely can't imagine someone like Glorfindel as a fluttery flower-fairy, though perhaps Elladan and Elrohir might make a good imitation of Puck. I suppose those Academy "elves" will be more Hollywood than Huldrefolk, though. *sniffs in disdain at Hollywood and reaches for the Edda*

Author's reply

Well, Sunny, you will find out what kind of Elves they are supposed to be learning to be soon enough. I assure you, though, that Glorfindel would never submit to the fluttery flower-fairy type. As for the twins.... *LOL*

Kitty · 22 November 2009 · Chapter 1: Daeron’s Great Idea

Now that's a quite unique plot! Elves pretending to be humans pretending to be elves, that's just too funny! Promises to be quite interesting and entertaining - I look forward to see how *that* idea plays out!

Author's reply

Thanks, Kitty. Hopefully this story will not disappoint.

Radbooks · 22 November 2009 · Chapter 1: Daeron’s Great Idea

Well, this looks like it'll be fun and very interesting! :)

Author's reply

Thanks, Radbooks. I hope you continue to enjoy this little story.
