Hooray! At last he is able to communicate in the only way he can, and father aids his son to find the grandson that was almost lost! Yes! Now, to save his life and the leg!
Author's reply
All the family relationships finally helped to find Aragorn, now to save his life and leg, as you said! =)

The relationship between Earendil and his sons must have been rather heartbreaking, since he had to abandon them forever.
Loved the image of Elrond riding out to find Aragorn - go,go, go!
Author's reply
Oh yes, he had to abandon his sons so young, knowing that he's leaving for a journey that he probably won't return from... Now he can at least cheer with you: "Go Elrond!"

Oh! I love Earendil's thoughts about Elrond! I've never been one to think it had been easy or simple for Earendil and Elwing to leave their small children behind-- I know it must have been agonizingly difficult.
And I really do love the idea that perhaps Elrond's foresight has let him know where his foster-son is!
Author's reply
Thank you very much, I'm glad that you like my interpretation of Earendil's thoughts. Yes, it had to be very, very difficult, to leave their sons behind when going to a jurney that they won't return from... Earenil thought at least that Elwing is with them, and Elwing had no choice... Poor parents!
And if anyone can find Aragorn, then it's Elrond!

Yes, oh yes, hold on, Aragorn! You've produced yet another interesting angle here. This is such a strange separation for father and son and completely unique. I enjoyed your glimpse at it from Earendil's POV very much.
Author's reply
Thank you! When I thoght about the strange relationship between Earendil and Elrond, I remembered Bilbo's words: "he said that if I had the cheek to make verses about Eärendil in the house of Elrond, it was my affair."

The cavalry is not supposed to turn away once it's served against the enemy. Now, to find their brother! They have to realize he's not far away from them!
At least Earendil is wanting peace for this son of his heart.
Author's reply
The cavalry apparently didn't read those instructions. If they would know... but they do not. *sigh*
But hope is still there, because of who Aragorn is - he can't abandon hope, even when all hope for life died. There is still hope for peace...

Oh sob! No, no, no! Wonderful as your description of Valinor is, he can't go there yet! I can't believe the twins missed him! You are certainly keeping the surprises coming, Mirach.

That was not a pleasant surprise, I imagine: I felt so bad to crush the hopes that today the rescue will come when posting this chapter... Now we need a more pleasant surprise, don't you think? ;)

The sound you have just heard is my head, pounding against the keyboard.
Augh!!! The twins missed him!!!! Good heavens.
But it does make for wonderful Earendil angsting... that last paragraph, with his wish for dreams to take Aragorn to all the most beautiful places on Arda was so moving; I loved it.
But still... get those twins turned around! I don't think I can take much more of this....
*runs to hug poor Aragorn and give him blankets and hot tea. And a leg splint.*
Author's reply
Ah, do I feel intimidation from the tune of your voice? Tell it to the twins, it's them who missed him, not me! *hides behind Elrond*
But it seems to me that I'm on the best way to kill my readers - some heart attacks were already reported... *g* So be careful with banging your head against solid surfaces! =)
Thank you for the review, I'm glad that you liked the paragraph - I have a habit to bring myself to tears when I write, and this was such a place, so I'm glad that it was not in vain =)

I've always wondered what he sees and thinks as he passes over Middle-earth...

Another wrenching installment... now we wait to see if the twins can find Aragorn if he's still hiding in the rocks. A bit like a needle in a haystack, from the sounds of things, but if anyone can find Aragorn, it's those two. I'm as anxious as Earendil to see what comes next!
Author's reply
It's really like looking for a needle in a haystack, but the guys from the mountain rescue are succesull many times. But, on the other side, they have GPS and helicopters... So, we'll see how those two manage =)

Oh how I feel for Eärendil - he sounds so angry with his lot - and just now I don't blame him for raging at the Valar.
I do hope the twins get to Aragorn soon. Although I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Istari got there first...

I don't know but what I like this chapter best of all so far! Earendil's anguished prayers and then anger at the Valar are such believable reactions to what he's going through. The frustration at the clouds that refuse to part, and then the anger again at the lights of Rivendell that remind him briefly of the detachment of the Valar... that too makes sense that he would be angry with Elrond. Ah but then it's so good to see that when he looks closer, Rivendell... and Elrond... are *not* so detached after all, and that help is on the way in the form of Elladan and Elrohir. I loved that most of all.
Author's reply
Thank you very much! I'm glad that you find Earendil's reaction believable, the clouds (that he wished for a few days ago) and the uncertainty are almost driving him mad, poor Mariner!

At least they have again been foiled, and he is safe atain for the moment. The floating brooches are both poignant and amusing, to think of Earendil leaving centuries of space junk floating in the ether, failed warnings and messages intended for various descendants! Poor Mariner--he has in its way a terrible job!
Author's reply
Centuries of space junk, yes... =) I think he learned soon that it has no results, so the space pollution is not so bad as it might seem. He just forgets about it in certain circumstances =)
