· Chapter 3: Taking shape
This is a great chapter. Having a baby turns your life 360 degrees, but it is the must blessed situation in your life (well, you relly don't think that when you can sleep three hours streignt) and is true, when your little one grows and don't need you anymore you feel so sad, you want them to come back to being infants and hold them so tight... Your healer is very wise...
Thank you
Author's reply
Well, I'm quite glad at the moment that my two are getting more independent, but maybe I'll feel sentimental about it at a later stage... ;-) Thanks for reviewing.

What a delightful chapter! From watching Deoric's careful making of the egg tempera to seeing Eowyn's restiveness in her pregnancy and then the conversation between Leofred and Deoric!
It's lovely to see that Deoric is soon going to be a father! I loved his bewilderment at the change in his mother (is there a hint of foreshadowing there? *grin*) And it will be nice to see how his uncle and his new apprentice figure into the equation before he goes out to take up his duties as chronicler.
Loved the touch of him sitting and doodling as he spoke. That's a habit I have as well--and that it was borders of leaves and vines. (I have a little idea for you about that if you are interested. Just let me know! You have no notion of how special this story is to me.)
Author's reply
Thanks for reviewing. I'm glad the story resonates so strongly with you, though can't begin to guess why. Do you want to send me your suggestion by e-mail?

Aha! And the title is most appropriate! Excellent transition chapter! A child due in Ithilien, and a second one in Edoras; fok begin to find life once more! Very nice!
Author's reply
Thanks for reviewing. "Transition chapter" describes it nicely. I was aware that it doesn't have much happening, but I needed much of the information as exposition. There'll soon be more action!

Clever! Ah--so clever! I like the way the girl's mind works! And the visit was delightful!

Enforced bed rest would not be something that a restless, lively young woman like Eowyn would adjust to very well. Merilwen's frank but gentle discussion was very well written, something Eowyn probably had not considered but really needed to hear, and had no mother to tell her.
I wonder if Eowyn considered, when planning to nurse her baby, getting up several times a night!
Author's reply
Indeed. I wish somebody had told me in advance how little sleep a nursing mother gets! Thanks for reviewing.

Oh! The ending was delightful.... tricksy one!
And I loved the description of Deoric's labors at the colors... very nicely written.
Author's reply
It's quite fascinating to read about about pigments and painting with egg tempera. There'll be more about that.

Wow - what a great chapter... Just gripped me fully. I liked that you didn't quite start with the end of the other story - but took us a few months into that future...
Nicely done indeed....
Author's reply
Thanks. I hope you'll enjoy this story. It'll be a bit different in tone from the last, but interesting, hopefully.

A canny lass, making sure she gets her man. Lovely detail here. LBJ
Author's reply
Thanks. Yes, not everything is how it seems at first glance, which is part of the theme of the story.

This was a truly fun chapter.

It was fun to write, too. :D

Ah--finally a time to savor this. Love the contrast between the philosophical Faramir and his practical wife; then the practicality and youthful feelings of anticipation we encounter in Edoras as they overcome Deoric's anxieties and return his ability to ride. Yes! Yes, this is the desire of a Rider! And an artistic challenge as well as the challenge half-fulfilled now to return to riding.
Although the fact that the paint powders are identified as being potentially poisonous has caught my attention. Ah--I can see this!
Now--what is wrong with Eowyn?
Author's reply
Thank you. Philosophy will play a crucial role in this story.
Traditional pigments were often toxic, especially if they were lead-based. I don't plan on poisoning anybody, though. ;-)

Something tell me that Faramir will soon have considerably more on his mind than pond skaters.
And Deoric is learning to ride one-legged; how wonderful; his mobility will certainly be improved along with self-esteem and life in general. Nice to see married life treating him so well.
Author's reply
Well, I made Fana and Deoric so miserable about each other in the first story that I feel I owe them some happiness! ;-)

It is nice to see a story about someone with a physical disability who is having realistic trials and tribulations, as well as some successes. So many people in Rohan and Gondor ended up with permanent injuries.
Author's reply
Yes, that was one of my motivations for writing the first story, just to see how a disabled person would cope and make a new life for themselves.

Lovely to see the next episode of Déoric's life, I will consume each chapter with glee.
Oddly enough I was thinking about Déoric last week when I was in York and visited Barley Hall. If you have time to go and look at the pictures on my LiveJournal - (http://curiouswombat.livejournal.com/196869.html#cutid1) particularly the fifth one down, with my daughter on, I think you will understand why!
Author's reply
Oh, what great photographs! Looks like a place I'd like to visit, too. We've been to York a fortnight ago just for a day, but visited the National Railway Museum, which the children loved.

Well, I was worry when I read the summary of your story, but now, I'm afraid of what is going to happen after reading Faramir thoughts, he is someone that you should not cast aside, I have speculated about the significant of his thoughts, but it is too early to know, it will be interesting to read this story, don't need to tell you that I'm already waiting for the next chapter.
Lothiriel will make Deoric a court painter, with colors, what an amaizing gift for him...
Eomer and the truth about History? I always read and know that the "Official History" is made by the victor, there is other POV, but the are not "official".
Author's reply
Thank you. I'm not sure what exactly makes you worried about the story, but I hope you won't be disappointed.

Oh, how promising a beginning to this new story! I grinned when I "saw" what the princess had sent Deoric-- he's in for a good time! Is he going to learn to gild, as well?
And I have suspicions about Eowyn. *crosses fingers*
Looking forward to more!
Author's reply
Thank you! I'll not give away anything else just now - you know too much about this story already! ;-)
