Everything has come full circle, hasn't it? First the husband, now the son is being sent off to lead his people. Sad, exciting, proud and bittersweet. Lovely tale.

As I already told you, this is a very moving and perceptive portrayal of Gilraen. A strong woman that usually gets overlooked in fan fiction. So, I was really glad to read this tribute to her.

I sternly ordered him to go swim in the Bruinen.

This was a really well-woven short that helped put me in the mindset of widowhood--alternately happy, bittersweet, and with that haunting prophetic note at the end... just perfect!

Gilraen would have to have had some spirit, or I don't think Arathorn would have looked twice at her. Thanks so much for seeing and commenting on my favorite line in the piece. :-)

Indeed she gave hope to the Men of the West.
Loved the argument with Arathorn as well as the resolution of it. He did wrong--there's no question of that, and am glad his men and their wives made that clear to him!
Wonderful moments. And welcome to SoA!

Yes, I could seen Arathorn just not seeing his role in the spat until someone *he* respected called him on his behavior. I could also see that, having been a bachelor for as long as he was, and with Gilraen being so young, that he would be slow to develop a husband's "radar" when it comes to dealing with their wives. :-)
I'm really yearning to write an Arathorn/Gilraen story...
Thanks so much for taking the time to write, and for your gracious welcome. I'm having a wonderful time in this fandom; I've never seen such generous and kind fellow fans!

This is a touching story, Marethiel!
Not knowing how to sew myself, I especially enjoyed all the details of tailoring for a Ranger, which make so much "common" sense.
And the argument between Gilraen and Arathorn seemed right for the two people involved... Gilraen being very young, and Arathorn unconsciously acting like a captain with his wife.
Gilraen's observations of Aragorn's hands being so like his father's were especially telling and touching.
Well done!

THis was my very first "Lord of the Rings" story... and it all but wrote itself. :-) I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I'm deeply indebted to my two betas...their wisdom and guidance helped make it much more enjoyable!
And I'm especially glad you enjoyed my Gilraen and Arathorn. I'm thinking it's time to write about them again...
Bright blessings,
