Estelcontar · 28 July 2010 · Chapter 9: This Perfect Day

I've told you already how much I enjoyed this lovely vignette, but it bears repeating. It's such a vivid, and warmhearted tale. It's wonderful to see Aragorn and Faramir have such a well deserved and idyllic respite from their toils.

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed this interlude that Raksha and I wrote.

Estelcontar · 6 May 2010 · Chapter 8: A clear call that may not be denied

I most certainly wouldn't want to deal with a grumpy Aragorn. Healers most certainly are not good patients. I loved the picture of Mista suckling the kitten.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I agree and don't envy Faramir one bit! I would have loved to see Mista and the kitten!

Larner · 6 May 2010 · Chapter 8: A clear call that may not be denied

I find myself grinning to think that age might be catching up with Aragorn somewhat! Heh! And love the greyhound nursing the kitten.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased you enjoyed reading about the kitten. Let us hope Aragorn is right about it just being a strained muscle!

Larner · 10 January 2010 · Chapter 7: The cat will mew and dog will have his day

Well, we had one dog that wanted to mother any baby animal she came across, and when she had milk gladly suckled kittens as well as other females' puppies. She did draw the line, however, at trying to clean the bottoms of ducklings and chicks, although she would allow them to snuggle up to her, gravid or not. As a pomeranian, however, she was more of a size to actually mother a kitten than would be most greyhounds I've seen. Delightful to know Aragorn would go down a cliff to rescue a kitten!

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. Thank you for sharing the story of your adorable sounding dog.I wish I could have seen her with her fosterlings! I feel Aragorn is caring enough to rescue kittens.

Estelcontar · 7 January 2010 · Chapter 7: The cat will mew and dog will have his day

I liked this story when I read the first version of it. I like it even better now. It's a sweet one. Trust Aragorn to be indignant at the cruelty exerted against the little kitten. It is so like him to risk bodily harm to save to little creature. I'm glad she found such a wonderful foster mom.

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased you liked this longer and more polished version of the prompt.I can just imagine Aragorn saving a kitten!

Estelcontar · 20 November 2009 · Chapter 6: His Captain's Captain

This lovely vignette had me chuckling out loud with Aragorn and Faramir. It must have felt wonderful to be so remembered for so long. It's no wonder Aragorn was so delighted. The fact that the younger generation 'just go along to enjoy the feast' rang very true to life too.

inzilbeth · 20 November 2009 · Chapter 6: His Captain's Captain

Oh well done, Linda, that's just too funny! I can't help wondering just how long Aragorn and Faramir are going to be able to keep up the pretence.

Raksha The Demon · 20 November 2009 · Chapter 6: His Captain's Captain

A funny chapter - it had to happen sometime! I love the idea of a Captain's Day honoring the legendary Thorongil's defeat of the Corsairs - it would be natural for seacoast towns to venerate a defeat of their most bitter and immediate enemy in this way; and the new, distant king's visit might well seem far less important in comparison.

Larner · 20 November 2009 · Chapter 6: His Captain's Captain

Delightful, Linda! Heh! They just don't realize....

Celeritas · 19 November 2009 · Chapter 6: His Captain's Captain

*sporfle* Of course, given Aragorn's many achievements and many names, this sort of thing must have happened pretty often...

Larner · 10 October 2009 · Chapter 5: He that is least among you all

Yes, THIS is the Aragorn we love--the true King, who seeks to set right what he unmeaningly has set amiss. Beautiful, Linda.

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. That is why we love Aragorn indeed!I'm pleased you enjoyed this.

Inzilbeth · 7 October 2009 · Chapter 5: He that is least among you all

A lovely tale, Linda, and just what we would expect from the responsible healer king!

Estelcontar · 6 October 2009 · Chapter 5: He that is least among you all

That is indeed a very good portrayal of why Aragorn was such a good and wise king. He felt it was his duty to serve his people, and not otherwise.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. That is why I love Aragorn too and am pleasured you felt I captured that aspect of him.

Raksha The Demon · 6 October 2009 · Chapter 5: He that is least among you all

A good exploration of kingly responsibility; the reeve obviously did not care much for the people of the village; while Aragorn, lord of all the realm of Gondor, took on responsibility for the health of the boy he had inadvertantly injured as well as the welfare of the boy's family. A nice chapter!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you liked the chapter.I would not be surprised if the reeve was soon looking for a new job!

Celeritas · 6 October 2009 · Chapter 5: He that is least among you all

This chapter is proof positive why Aragorn is so awesome (if you will forgive the Americanism) a king. I'm reminded of the tale of the corrupt aristocracy in pre-Revolution France in which after a carriage trampled a peasant youth the lord who was riding in it merely tossed some money out the window behind him (as if that would solve the problem of his heedlessness!). Aragorn's actions show the exact opposite here, to the point of delaying his arrival at a feast for the care of one youth!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you liked my portrayal of Aragorn as I truly feel he would help the most lowly of his subjects just as he helped the Hobbits.

Larner · 10 September 2009 · Chapter 4: Out of the mouths of babes

Oh, I'm so glad he managed to get in a tale of Hobbits! And they certainly needed to get away from protocol to a time of delightful tales such as this. And am glad Faramir got to hear the laughter rather than more poetry recited badly. Heh!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I think it would do Aragorn and Faramir good to spend more time with young children.

Estelcontar · 9 September 2009 · Chapter 4: Out of the mouths of babes

I liked the original vignette very much, and this extended version even more. You painted a most charming and captivating portrait or Aragorn entertaining the small children. As I've always imagined Aragorn as someone who loved children was good with them, I was, of course, most delighted with this story.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased you enjoyed the story in its more polished form.

Celeritas · 8 September 2009 · Chapter 3: The Call of the Running Tide

You must have posted this during another one of my no-reviews spells... I really liked this inverse of a shore leave! I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with the contrasting images in this story, since we know that Aragorn and Faramir will run into problems. So what you're doing with this longterm--showing the variety of things that can exist in one particular place--I really like. Well done!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm delighted you are enjoying the story and I promise that nothing too bad will happen to Aragorn and Faramir!

Celeritas · 8 September 2009 · Chapter 4: Out of the mouths of babes

This was so incredibly cute! I really liked the image of Aragorn telling stories to all the children--a far better use of classroom time than meager recitation, if you ask me!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased you enjoyed Aragorn telling stories to the children.

GRumpy · 30 July 2009 · Chapter 3: The Call of the Running Tide

Estelcontar · 27 July 2009 · Chapter 3: The Call of the Running Tide

Linda, as I told you before, I did enjoy this delightful vignette most thoroughly. It's so good to see Aragorn and Faramir relaxing and enjoying themselves on a sunny day by the sea. They so deserve it, and it's so like them to remember their men and their horses, and allow them to enjoy themselves too. You made a good job of portraying a blissful interlude.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed this revised version of my story. Aragorn and Faramir do indeed deserve this break.
