So you've read "Leaf by Niggle," too, haven't you? So have I. I like this story.
I hope that J.R.R. Tolkien IS in Heaven! If he is, then he has all eternity to continue to develop his mythology. I know that C.S. Lewis is. Just imagine the time they're spending together if they both are! =)

Love Niggle - I feel his pain and Tolkien's because it's mine. I have no doubt they are both in heaven and having a ball. :)
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

I thought the ending was a little abrupt. But it's a nice story.
Author's reply
Thanks. Could have said more I guess but how does on describe Heaven? The muse hasn't been there yet. :)

Suilië Antane,
Yes! Yes! Yes! You have put into words what I think many of us feel—that Tolkien, as a servant of God, has drawn many of us to Him. Thank you, meldonya!

Hantanyel! The professor did indeed fulfill his vocation and I have been one of those drawn and wasn't even expecting it! :) *hugs him and God*

Thank you so much - always nice to hear from a new fan! I'm looking forward to meeting Frodo myself one day. And of course the professor.

Absolutely beautiful. *sniffling happily*
I can't see how this could be against the rules at all. A wonderful tribute.
Author's reply
Well, the rules said you couldn't put real people in Middle-earth, but since I wasn't writing about M-e, I thought I could get away with it! :) Thank you for your kind words!

Oh, my word!!
Antane, I'm speechless and weeping all over my keyboard, yet I want so much to leave you a review. So be forewarned that this is pretty disjointed.
What a wonderful tribute to the Professor! It reminds me a bit of that moving song, "Thank You for Giving to the Lord." His life and work have touched so many people with beauty and truth; truly the number is known only to the Lord, as is the extent of his influence. "Well done, My good and faithful servant" indeed!
Lovely, absolutely lovely!
Thank you, dear Antane, for sharing this beautiful tribute with us!
Hugs, brownies, and many, many blessings,
Mum's the Word
Author's reply
You are quite welcome! Thank *you* for the blessing of such a very kind review! You honor me with your tears. I am not familiar with that song but will have to look into it. I'm so glad you enjoyed - always nice to hear from a new fan. I will pass on the brownies if you don't mind, but I will take the hugs and blessings and give you more right back! :)

I think this is very fitting, and very much in the spirit of 'Leaf by Niggle'. Tolkien truly believed death to be a gift, a passage to eternal happiness and righteousness. I love that you have placed his beloved creations there to comfort him, as certainly they have comforted so many of us. Emotional, and lovely.
Author's reply
Thank you! The professor has really revolutionized my views on death - not something to be feared, but joyfully embraced. I had originally thought it would be the professor explaining to Frodo and Sam why all those who had gone before him would be coming up to them thanking them for changing and perhaps even saving their lives and they'd be all confounded but still perfect gentlehobbits and then the professor would come and explain everything to them. But as I wrote it, it came out the other way around so that must be the way it was!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! This was true for me - how much I would like to thank the Professor for changing my life. You put that so well into words that I was moved to tears.
The most perfect end - or beginning, rather - for the Professor.
Hugs,
Kitt : )
Author's reply
Thank you and hugs right back! He has certainly transformed my life which I certainly wasn't expecting but how wonderful! He's going to be having people coming up to him for a *long* time.
