What a beautiful gift for our Linda! Definitely perfect! I so rejoice that you have written this, and love the likeness to Boromir he finds in his White Lady! How beautiful! Faramir has all of this to remember and even rejoice for!
Author's reply
Thank you, I do so like a happy ending. :)

Excellent choices for the seven letters, and a perfect progression of images for Faramir's tale.
Author's reply
Thanks you, I was amazed how easily the letters fitted!

This is a beautifully written -- and woven -- series of scenes.

Thanks, you're right, it rather felt like weaving.

Virtuella, you've brought me out of lurkerdom to say that this is one of the most fantastic pieces I've read in a while. Your lyrical style creates images of great beauty, and I appreciate very much the technical difficulty of what you've accomplished, the intricacy of the echo words weaving the threads of a favorite character's life together and keeping a seamless cohesion among the paragraphs. Well done. Virtuella, you are truly a virtuoso! Anyone would be honored by such a birthday gift.
Author's reply
Thank you, I am flattered that this has lured you out of lurkdom! ;-)

Now, that was a giggle, to say the least! Heh! Poor Mireth--not that anyone necessarily "lost" four conkers! Heh! Love it!

Thanks, glad you liked it. Someone would have been devastated not to get them back!

and that’s our duty done
And it's as simple as that. What a nice tale.
Author's reply
Thanks. I've studied different approaches to morality a while back, it it's interesting to see how they play out in various situations.

Had to reread this, it being Christmas and all.
It's a real classic: meter, humor, wonderful rhymes. Major kudos!

Thank you, it was great fun to write.

· Chapter 8: Falling
A lovely look at Legolas' life - I particularly enjoyed the parts that dealt with his wife (which seemed a very naturally flowing element in Legolas' history; I wonder if you'd ever care to expand on their relationship and history) and his arrival in Aman (absolutely gorgeous imagery!).
Author's reply
I don't think I will; it's so much easier to hint at something than to actually develop it in a convincing way... Thanks for reviewing. :)

Thank you. It's not my usual haunt either, but once I started, I rather enjoyed writing it.

Lovely, I do like the contrasts, and his thought in the last that 'Someone, he felt sure, would hold him responsible for bringing the dwarf'.
I hope, too, that She is there - or will be soon.

Thank you, this was more fun than I expected it to be. ;-)

· Chapter 7: Acrostic
What a most fitting gift for Linda--and how appropriate for our beloved Aragorn. Love the honor he already felt for Frodo, and the desire for GOOD cooking, and the finding of the Entwives, and the final acceptance of SOON. Yes, this is our Aragorn son of Arathorn, whom we all love so!

Thank you, I did what I could. ;-)

What a most lovely and thoughtful present you gifted Linda with. I loved the way you managed to portray so vividly in your acrostic the worthiness, and the moral nobility of Aragorn.
And finding the Entwives was such a happy bonus.

Thank you! Being, as it was, a gift for Linda, there couldn't have been a different topic!

This is lovely, Virtuella! I liked the moments of Aragorn's life that you chose to write about, and how you conveyed them. I was especially shocked and pleased that the Entwives were found! Woohoo!
Very nicely done!

Talking about biting off more than one can chew!
Well-written and amusing. Eomer certainly has a lot to learn about women as well as cuisine; and I'm sure Lothiriel will be glad to tutor him...

· Chapter 5: Meeting of Quiet Minds
A masterful interpretation of a meeting that is sadly not written of too often - lovely delineation of the contrasts between the beautiful, unchanging elven maiden and the Dunadan woman marked by the changes of a mortal life. And yet, there's a sense of growing wistfulness and respect and liking in Arwen's perspective.
Very nice!

Two women, one youthful in appearance but nearly ageless in actuality, the other very young by the count of her companion yet aging; both bound by fate to the same young man. How real this meeting feels!

I am just gobsmacked by this piece. You cut to the heart of the problem of elven immortality, and made it clear, through Arwen's perceptions that the Gift of Men truly is a gift.

· Chapter 5: Meeting of Quiet Minds
I saw this when you posted it on the GFIC comm, but couldn't come up with any sort of constructive advice because it's really well done--especially in characterizing the awkwardness and tentativeness of this first meeting. I especially enjoyed the contrasts of youth and age, and how the mysteries of mortality and motherhood have actually made Gilraen older than Arwen. Well done!
Author's reply
Thank you! These days, I see a lot of beauty in older people - probably because I'm getting older myself.
