Hi Katzilla,I have enjoyed this story from the start.I am very glad that you have decided to finish it.It gives a interesting insight to Eomer's character. He already has the makings of the King we know and love. Can't wait for your next story.Galathil
Author's reply
Hi Galathil!
Thanks so much for your lovely comment! I am very happy that I was at last able to finish this story; I hate unfished stories myself, but usually, there is nothing you can do if your muse stops talking to you. Fortunately, mine is still around and I hope the next outing of Éomer and his boys will also be of amusement to you. :-)
Very best wishes,

What a joy to see this posted tonight - a perfect end to a less than perfect day...and I love how all the pieces came together! You captured the fiery tempers of the Rohirrim, as well as their sense of what is fair. That all the tensions come to a head and are dealt with, and afterwards the men have a chance to relax and enjoy a bit of quiet time during this long war is a nice touch, too. I would think they would need time like that to keep from losing hope.
I did enjoy your 'casting' notes as well - Chris Hemsworth as a man of Rohan...hmmmmm. Yup, I could see that...and what a nice image, too!!!
I do hope you and your Muse remain on speaking terms...hopefully she didn't take the whip cracking too personally - because I have grown rather fond of this eored, and would welcome more stories about them!!
Author's reply
Hi Ainariel!
Thanks so much for your kind words; I was very happy to be able to end this story; nothing like an unfinished story to make me feel completely dissatisfied (although usually, there's nothing you can do if your muse stops talking to you).
I'm glad you liked my ending (I pretty much busted my brain cells to come up with the right *punishment* that would let Elfhelm keep his authority but consider everything that had happened.
Yes, Chris Hemsworth as man of Rohan... wouldn't that be a sight (although the poor horse that must carry him!)?! I can't wait to see "The Avengers" next year, I hope it will be as good as "Thor".
As for my muse: Perhaps you already noticed, but she's still around and the boys are ready to go on another adventure, as well (very surprisingly after what I did to them in their last outing)! I hope you will enjoy it!
Best,
Katja

Katzilla, so good that you were able to finish this wonderful story. I liked the final arrangements, I liked that the Eored trusted his captain and accepted the punishment. And, I liked Eomer's new maturity, that he is learning taking steps to become the greater King of the Mark. Very touching the end, the passing of the luck charm was very symbolic.
Thanks again and I really hope that you continue writing.
Author's reply
Hi Fantasia,
and thanks so much for your wonderful comment(s)! I'm happy to read that you agree with Elfhelm's decision, as I had quite a hard time to come up with it. And yes, Éomer definitely learned a thing or two about responsibility on Halifieren (after all, if he wants to be a Marshal at 24, he still has a certain amount of growing up still to do).
The boys are already back for another outing, as you have perhaps already seen, and I hope you will enjoy this tale just as much!
Best wishes,

· Chapter 15: To the Rescue
My, what a surprise, your muse allowed you to update!!! I'm so glad that they are OK, that rescue came at the end.
Just one thought, Bard is great, but he is risking doing exactly the same that Arnhelm did. I don't remember all the details (that is why I'm going to re-read the story right now) but I don't remember many of them confronting Arnhelm when he was harassing Eomer, so I would say that all of them are a little guilty as well. I think that I would have like it Arnhelm dead after this assault, I know that I didn't liked him at the beginning, but as the story developed I understood him, I do not approve what he did, but I understand. I could have giving him a death at battle, he was a good warrior and he regretted his action. Repressed grief is not a good companion to anyone. It could be dangerous when released. And I’m afraid of him receiving more contempt than understanding from the Eored and the King.
Waiting for more, thank you.
Author's reply
And here *is* more! ;-)
Yes, trust me that I was equally surprised to see that my muse allowed me to finally finish this (it was about TIME!!). I agree that Bard's temper is not easily disregarded; he just another perfect example of a headstrong, justice-loving Rohir! They all may have their faults, but still they are very obviously the good guys in this war.
As for the éored not saying much against Arnhelm in that scene: I think they made clear that they were definitely not on the same page with their scout, but as their Captain was right there in the fray, they left it to him to set things right (although he failed).
Arnhelm was fun to write, I must say, and I agree that a death in battle would have been good for him, as well. Yet young Éomer has still so much to learn that I dediced to let him live.
I hope you'll like this last chapter of the story, and while I will not promise anything, I will try to write down further adventures of this lovable bunch of riders. :-)
Very best wishes,
Katzilla

Another cliffhanger - you (and your muse!) have that down perfect! Glad to see another chapter up - and love that Eomer is getting a chance to show that while he is his father's son...he is not his father. I only hope that Arnhelm can see it as well.
Crack the whip! Get that muse working!! LOL... If it were only that simple, right? They are finicky beings, aren't they? Oh well, a good read is always worth the wait!

Katzilla, as always, it is a pleasure to read your stories. I'm sorry that your muse is not being helpful, but she made me mad that every time you update, she made you end each chapter with a cliffhanger and then, she withdraws your inspiration for months!!!, your muse is really a mean one!!!
Seriously, glad, again, that you are updating and I will wait patiently for more updates. As for this chapter, I liked to see the beginning of the warrior that Eomer will become one day.
Thanks for your kind words.
Author's reply
Hi Fantasia,
and thanks so much for your kind words! Trust me, I could wring that *** muse's neck for disappearing for months at a time, myself, but she's having her own battle to fight: my main interest has switched to photography for a while now, and this is a hobby that also takes up a lot of time. Most of the time, that muse is stronger, but I still want to not only finish this story, but also tell other adventures of that éored (I've grown quite fond of them).
A nice idea also developed with Bard in the main role of the episode (since I saw THOR a few months back and liked it quite a lot, I think Chris Hemsworth in the Bard-role would be veeery nice!). So I'm still struggling, but I'm not beaten. :-)
Thanks for providing me with motivation to continue! (HUG)

· Chapter 12: Aftermath
WOW!!! so glad that you are back....I almost shout very loud when I saw the update, a very bad idea because I'm at work.
What a great chapter. I was so happy when Eomer heard the horn signal back. What a great warrior he is and will be. He didn't ask for help for himself, but will do it for a hurt soldier, even one that he didn't like. Then, my enthusiasm got lower after hear that the eored won't help him soon and the possibilities of Orcs being around. Good that they found the other riders.
What a mess, grief can be so dangerous, when is never released and I don’t see how warriors will release their grief in those times, unless they can kill whoever was responsible. I don’t see that physiologist treatment was at hand in Rohan…. I guess that Bema has giving Captain Arnhelm his punishment.
Please, update as soon, you know that I love your story and patiently wait for updates. Glad that you found your muse.
Author's reply
Likewise my apologies for not replying sooner to your wonderful comment. It gave me the extra-boost I needed to get my battle-weary muse into gear for the next chapter. I totally agree, grief can do dangerous things to a person's mind, and if this meets with hot-tempered and justice-loving youth, it can be an explosive mixture.
Thanks for staying with me!

This is story is great so far! I really love the crazy situations you get poor Eomer into. :) I can't wait to find out what happens next, and I hope you update soon! I'm really liking the drama in this one especially, you do a very good job of making Eomer's personality seem younger in this, without making him OOC from the rest of the time.
(I wonder if this will be story you introduce Thor in, btw... I was just glancing at one of your other stories and you never did tell us about the whole switching sides thing. I was always curious about him, lol!)
May you never be cursed with writer's block,

Author's reply
Hi Alaenor,
and thanks so much for your wonderful comments! I'm glad to read that you enjoy my story and think that Éomer's in character (which is pretty much my chief concern when I write LotR-fanfics).
As for Thor, the incident which made him switch sides is explained in "Twilight of the Gods", a co-production with Timmy2222, which you can also find on this site. I hope you'll like it. :-) I had a great time inventing that character, and it makes me happy to see that readers seem to be quite fond of him.

Hi Katzilla,
it's nice to see you're writing again! And of course being no kinder to poor Éomer than before. It's only the knowledge that he has to survive to adulthood in order to face raving wargs and orcs in your other stories that keeps me from worrying at this new cliffhanger. ;-)
Alles Gute für's Neue Jahr!

Author's reply
Hi Lia,
well, why should anything have changed about the way I treat Éomer? ;-) Perhaps I should write another AU-story about the time after the Ring War to take that security that Éomer will survive whatever I throw at him, hm? It certainly sounds tempting... ;-)

I don't know how I missed this chapter - being as I love this tale so much.
I've been writing another tale for awhile in which Eomund plays a large part - I have come to love him. I loved the exchange between father and son.
And I like the idea of going to the hallowed ground for discernment. I think a good idea - though perhaps a bit of 'running away.'

I'm glad that you are back, I've missed your story, I was so worry for Eomer, you really left him alone for a long time....what a emotional encounter with his father, your Eomer has the ability to talk with to many ghost, I remember his "conversations" with his cousin in another of your stories, but it is a very good way to demonstrate his debates with his conscience. Yes Eomer, your Father is right, you will be a protector of the Mark, a great warrior, and you have not idea...
Hope that it is the scout and his friend the ones that found him, they need to put the past behind, well easier to say it, very hard to do it...
Thanks for updating and I hope that you will now do it more frequently, I've missed your Eomer.
Author's reply
Hi Fantasia,
sorry I was gone for so long. The break that always comes when I'm finished with a long story ("Banishment", in this case), was a few months late and allowed me to begin this story, but then virtually over night, it hit me nevertheless. And since work was quite overwhelming for the past months as well, I just didn't have it in me to sit down and write, and poor Éomer had to wait.
And nevertheless I was not concerned that I would not finish this story, as I know quite well where it is going. I just need a bit of inspiration and energy, and hope both have returned for good. :-
Yes, I confess that *my* Éomer has a very vivid imagination and a certain way of making decisions that's slightly out of the ordinary... :-)

Gods, I'm just terrified, it will be a long night for Eomer and a long wait for us to find out, please update soon...it reminding one of the scenes form you previous story, when he was exiled form Rohan and he is on the cave and the Uruk find him and they fight...
Well, he has a hot temper and a lot of pride, but I guess that he will learn a hard lesson after this...I just wanted to hit that scout, so bad, he should be discipline for what he did, it is not right, not only because is an abuse of authority on a sixteen years old recruit, but also, as you said, he is from the royal family, the second in line for succession...
