An excellent series as we see the two of them questioning, and in the end coming to trust one another.

Läire, as I told you when I first read this story, I found it a most perceptive and poignant one. I think you've hit on the nail how Aragorn and Boromir must have felt about each other, and you did manage to convey it to us most movingly. Congratulations.

Agape4Gondor · 1 July 2008 · Chapter 5: Departure

Oh my! What a heavily ladened chapter.... Needless to say - my heart dropped when I read of Boromir's 'bright destination' - though I must keep telling myself, that, for a warrior, dying saving others is a 'bright destination.' :-( As for Aragorn - I love his thoughts... and the nod between the two men. Can't wait to see what further you do.

A very perceptive and thoughtful story, Suvi. :)

harrowcat · 1 July 2008 · Chapter 5: Departure

Thanks for all of the great chapters. They are all read and devoured lovingly.

Larner · 1 July 2008 · Chapter 5: Departure

At least enmity doesn't lie between them, and they can know the hope of companionship and even friendship; and they will most times seek to cooperate with one another. A lovely series this has been; I've enjoyed it thoroughly.

meckinock · 29 June 2008 · Chapter 4: The Sword that was Broken

Well, this is the best resolution we could hope for, given Boromir being who he is, and coming to what he's coming to. A telling insight into the thoughts that must have been going through his head. Decisions this soldier never imagined having to consider.

Author's reply

Your own thoughts on the subject are always appreciated. I do sometimes feel sorry for Boromir, having to give up the rule of a country he loves to a nearly complete stranger. I imagine that, even if he did accept it, he spent much more time thinking about it than I portray. Thanks for the review.

meckinock · 29 June 2008 · Chapter 3: Return to Rivendell

I like the vulnerability Aragorn reveals here - there's the tantalizing glimpse of the confidence, and indeed the comfort he enjoys in his role as Chieftain of the Dunedain, and in the same moment he displays ambivalence to Boromir's comparison of him with Elendil. He's off-balance in this new relationship, doesn't quite know what to make of Boromir's overture. The last line is wonderfully frank, and defines the process that they're both entering into, I think.

I'm really enjoying this story. Aragorn and Boromir both seem very true to the characters we see in the books. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for reading, Radbooks :)

Agape4Gondor · 29 June 2008 · Chapter 4: The Sword that was Broken

Another great chapter. I, personally, am glad you stayed with the book rendition of Anduril.... It is truly a momentous moment, and I was really very grateful that Aragorn decided to share it with Boromir.... *heavy sigh*

Author's reply

While the movie rendition was dramatic, I always preferred the book version. It just feels right that Anduril goes at the same as the Ring. I also learned from some internet site that it takes about a month to forge a sword with the classic methods (I don't know how valid it is, but that's the only source I could find). Frankly put, the War would have been over by the time Anduril was ready in the films :P

Agape4Gondor · 29 June 2008 · Chapter 3: Return to Rivendell

Oh my goodness! I can hardly begin to think this chapter is so heavily laden with insight and thought and.... Just wow! My goodness, you have really outdone yourself.... I can't even tell you what captures my heart with this one... perhaps it is the weariness of Aragorn and yet him taking time to speak with Boromir... or perhaps Boromir's candidness... or perhaps the growing 'respect?' that each might be feeling for the other. Great chapter!!!

shirebound · 29 June 2008 · Chapter 4: The Sword that was Broken

You continue to bring us Boromir's point of view very beautifully.

Author's reply

Thank you kindly! Your approval always makes me happy ^^

Larner · 29 June 2008 · Chapter 4: The Sword that was Broken

Ah! Anduril rising from the shards of Narsil; and fealty is now definitely growing between them!

Author's reply

Indeed :D Thank you for your kind reviews, and constant support.

Larner · 29 June 2008 · Chapter 3: Return to Rivendell

Ah--how wonderful to see the acceptance beginning in Boromir, even if it might be construed as superficial.

Dreamflower · 27 June 2008 · Chapter 3: Return to Rivendell

What a revealing conversation! Boromir clearly does not doubt Aragorn's lineage, whether he yet accepts him as a possible king or not.

shirebound · 27 June 2008 · Chapter 3: Return to Rivendell

I see Elendil the Tall in all of his glory, with both power and peace lying in his features. That's a marvelous description. I'm really enjoying how this story is unfolding.

Golden · 27 June 2008 · Chapter 3: Return to Rivendell

Oh thats a great story. I am actually a Hobbit reader, but this one got my interesst. I think you write Boromir and Aragorn very much in character, can imagine very well that they have those thoughts and these conversation. Looking forward to more. :) Golden

Agape4Gondor · 25 June 2008 · Chapter 2: After the Council

I really like this chapter... especially the references to Faramir. Personally, I see Boromir as being a great politician - he must have been as heir to the Chair - however, I do believe he would have been fairly forthright. Nice job.

Agape4Gondor · 25 June 2008 · Chapter 1: First Meeting

Nice chapter. My favorite line was - the peacefulness of Imladris has dimmed even his wary senses. Gives me thought that Aragorn immediately recognizes a warrior when he sees one.

meckinock · 15 June 2008 · Chapter 2: After the Council

So Boromir wastes no time accurately assessing the situation and figuring out what the crucial issue is going to be - and resolving to eliminate any uncertainty in that regard! This is in Boromir's POV, but I'll wager Aragorn could not help but be impressed with the man the toddler has become.

meckinock · 15 June 2008 · Chapter 1: First Meeting

It seems so like Aragorn to watch unseen, calculatedly taking the newcomer's measure. Although it was a shock to realize that this grown warrior was none other than Boromir, he recovered quickly enough to take the upper hand in their first encounter. Even then, a tension exists between them. You played that nicely. And I really loved Aragorn's momentary sense of time's passage. This was an especially great line: For all the times I have felt the days passing by so slowly, it is moments like this that make me wonder where all of the years have gone. You've really got a handle on Aragorn's maturity and self-awareness here. Even though you say in the author's notes that you're more like Boromir! And congratulations on your graduation.

Larner · 12 June 2008 · Chapter 2: After the Council

Ah, yes, these would be his questions at this time. Interesting.

Larner · 12 June 2008 · Chapter 1: First Meeting

A most, most reasonable question, whether Boromir can be brought to accept him. Good look at the encounter from Aragorn's POV.

Linda Hoyland · 11 June 2008 · Chapter 2: After the Council

I enjoyed reading this very much at Teitho and thought you captured the characters well.
