I think I like gray better then blue when it comes to eyes. I liked this story. It's very introspective.

"He comes back to me with deeper hurts, his eyes full of tears—not for himself, but for others." *sigh* Beautiful summation of Aragorn, in a single sentence.

(I missed this review for a long time. My bad.) This is one of my favorite stories that I wrote. *grin* I was straining to make it work, and it actually did. :) ~Cal

His Undomiel, his daughter, the smaller keeper of his heart and the one he delights to protect, even when she is dependent. Lovely images here.

...the smaller keeper of his heart... True words said. Thanks for reading! ~Cal

AWW!!!! :D So sweet! LOL, Elrond has his hands full with 3 children!
Author's reply
*grin* Three children--twins and a daughter--it probably is a handful! ~Cal
Jancy · 16 November 2008 · Chapter 1: Tithen Maethor (Elrond and Aragorn)
I think all fathers love to worry about their children. Elrond in this story is sad, but also hopeful--and this story is like LOTr in the hopeful feeling that no matter how bad things gets there's always hope.
Author's reply
I think you hit the nail about hope. All right, maybe I'm thinking to much about the scene in which Aragorn says "There is always hope," but--it's true. Had none of the people had hope, they wouldn't have gotten very far. ~Cal
Freelancer of Arda · 14 November 2008 · Chapter 2: Of Boring Books and Shining Stars (Elrond and Arwen)
Cute! Very cute. Too bad it won't last forever...
Author's reply
Indeed--too bad. A part of me wishes Elrond and Arwen could've stayed together, but then there wouldn't be the wonderful Aragorn/Arwen. ~Cal
daw the minstrel · 13 November 2008 · Chapter 2: Of Boring Books and Shining Stars (Elrond and Arwen)
Elrond had better enjoy it while it lasts. He won't be able to kiss way her fears forever.
Author's reply
Indeed, he should. I think all fathers wish such times never end... Thank you for reading. :) ~Cal
daw the minstrel · 13 November 2008 · Chapter 1: Tithen Maethor (Elrond and Aragorn)
This is really lovely. I particularly like the picture of Estel as a child with a wooden sword, whirling with determination.
Author's reply
It certainly would be something interesting to see. :) I'm still hoping Estel makes a cameo in the Hobbit movie... ~Cal
Antane · 9 May 2008 · Chapter 1: Tithen Maethor (Elrond and Aragorn)
Sweet and then bittersweet - the games that are no longer fun and no longer games, the hurts that are first ignored and then understood not be weaknesses, the pain not for oneself but for others. Lots to learn from here. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

A nice look at Aragorn through Elrond's eyes.

Cal, as I told you before, this is a most moving and poignant vignette in which you managed to capture with feeling in a few words the essence of Aragorn. Congratulations

And I'll tell you again--thank you, Estelcontar! ~Cal
Larner · 6 May 2008 · Chapter 1: Tithen Maethor (Elrond and Aragorn)
The child was the promise of the man to come; the man holds the echo of the child who was, and who still is Hope embodied. Excellent POV.

The child was the promise of the man to come; the man holds the echo of the child who was, and who still is Hope embodied. What I like is your ability to sum up a fic perfectly in one line. :) Glad you liked this. Thanks for reading! ~Cal
shirebound · 5 May 2008 · Chapter 1: Tithen Maethor (Elrond and Aragorn)
He comes back to me with deeper hurts, his eyes full of tears—not for himself, but for others. What a beautiful line. It really sums up Aragorn's character, and the kind of King he will be.
Author's reply
I dearly love Aragorn and all his wonderful qualities, but it was terribly hard to sum up his early years with the word limit. It took me a day to come up with this line, and three days to write this ficlet, despite the fact it's only 500 words. For something that started out as a poem, it grew into something bigger. Thanks for reviewing. ~Cal
