I’ll bet they never considered who sent the storm. They are in such trouble; the thought of what will happen next has me waiting anxiously to find out.

Author's reply

Assuming anyone sent it... it could just be a storm. As to what happens to them... you'll just have to wait and see.

Tari · 8 December 2008 · Chapter 33: A Conspiracy Amongst Gwedyr

Not knowing everything about the Elves is good for the Maiar. It makes life much more interesting. Glorfindel thinks he can speak in secret even though the Maiar are always around, which is usually the case. I wonder why they were called away. That is most unusal. It doesn't sound good for the ellon. (Blue is my favorite color.)

Author's reply

You're right about that, Tari. Knowing everything would be rather boring. *grin* As to why the Maiar were called away... Irmo knows something is up and knows that the Maiar knowing everything about Glorfindel is not necessarily a good thing. Blue is my favorite color, too. *grin*

Kaylee · 8 December 2008 · Chapter 34: Leaving Lórien

Hey, aren't they at the Fana Nirion? *wonders if Glorfi and Ingwi will be meeting sooner rather than later* I wonder if Glorfi & co. will each have to face his inner demons, too, as it were. Interesting...can't wait to see what happens next!! ~Kaylee!

Author's reply

Yes, they are at the Fana Nírion. As to what will happen to them remains to be seen.

Larner · 8 December 2008 · Chapter 34: Leaving Lórien

Ah, a familiar mist-shrouded valley, and it appears they may be reaping their just desserts! Heh!

Author's reply

They may indeed, but time alone will tell.

Thalanee · 8 December 2008 · Chapter 34: Leaving Lórien

Glorfindel certainly is one sneaky Noldo... I wonder if Irmo let those three get away on purpose? And why are the Valar trying to keep Ingwion and Glorfindel separate even though they suspect that Atar's behind their urge to meet? That's strange... That valley shrouded in mist... isn't that were Ingwion and the others are camping? That would lead me to wonder if that storm was sent by someone. Or am I overinterpreting things? You see I can hardly wait for the next chapter!

Author's reply

The answers to your questions will be revealed in the coming chapters and sometimes a storm is just a storm.

Kitty · 8 December 2008 · Chapter 34: Leaving Lórien

Well, their little trick wasn't exactly honest, but then I don't understand why the Valar try to keep Ingwion and Glorfindel separated when they suspect that Atar is behind Glorfindel's feeling he has to go there, either. As Finrod and Irmo both know the three are up to something, I wonder if Irmo allowed them to slip out on purpose. That's going to be interesting. And of course I hope Celepharn and the others don't get into too much trouble.

Author's reply

We'll see the whys and the wherefores of all this in the upcoming chapters. It's going to take a few more to tell the entire story of Glorfindel and Ingwion.

Independence1776 · 7 December 2008 · Chapter 34: Leaving Lórien

Finrod knows Glorfindel far too well to believe his act. And his response to Irmo just confirms that. Oh, Finrod isn't going to be happy. A blanket tug-of-war! That made me chuckle. At least Irmo knows something and isn't actively forestalling them. Like the three of them, I hope the Reborn don't get into trouble! Uh-oh. That valley sounds very, very familiar. I'm dreading- just a little- what will happen next. Interesting set-up. Things are about to get interesting. ~ Indy

Author's reply

Things are always interesting where Glorfindel is concerned. *grin* But I agree that in this case things are going to get even more interesting. The valley is indeed *the* valley... as to what will happen there remains to be seen. And the Reborn won't be in too much trouble... Irmo knows is elflings almost as well as his brother does. *grin*

eiluj · 7 December 2008 · Chapter 34: Leaving Lórien

Very tricky chapter, with all the who-knew-what-whens and who-suspected-what-whens. So for all their ... dubious behavior, shall we say? ... the first consequence is that Glorfindel, Sador, and Beleg have been drenched in a storm. I'm sure that won't be all that happens to them as a result of this escapade! "Glorfindel is always up to something" -- Truer words.... I'm wondering what Celepharn and his friends have been doing. Painting something else? (Horses? Each other? Estë's lake [in Chicago they dye the river for St. Patrick's Day; it could be done]?) As always, I'm trying to figure out what's going to happen next. In this case, by looking at the comparative timelines: in the Ingwion-Aldundil-Vorondil timeline, the threatened storm hasn't occurred yet (or if it did, I missed it), but in the Glorfindel-Beleg-Sador timeline, the storm hit the Fana Nirion when they arrived there. So did Glorfindel et al arrive in the Fana Nirion *before* Ingwion & co. (and maybe are already at Nienna's, huddled in warm blankets and driving her crazy -- with the Maiar amused in the background)? Or were Ingwion & co. elsewhere (perhaps at their camp) when the storm hit, and by the time the three Reborn arrive, they had already returned to their camp, or even to Nienna's? Or are both groups going to meet up in the Fana in the downpour? Or.... Just answer "Yes" or "No." 8-)

Author's reply

We will see in the next chapter how the two timelines meet up.... This was indeed a tricky chapter but I'm glad it worked out. Next chapter we'll learn what the Reborn in Lórien have been up to.

GoldenFlower · 7 December 2008 · Chapter 34: Leaving Lórien

Oooh. Thunderstorm. I would kill for a thnderstorm right about now. Storms are much, much nicer than snow. And both are nicer from inside a warm, cosy house. -winces- Poor Glorfindel/Sador/Beleg That being said, wonderful chapter and, as usual, I cannot wait for the next. And, apparently, I cannot type after playing my flute for an extended period of time. I had to put this through spellcheck. O.o. ~GF

Author's reply

I prefer my thunderstorms (and snowstorms) in the safety of a nice warm, cosy house myself. *grin* I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter and am looking forward to the next, and the next, and the next.... *grin*

Hel · 7 December 2008 · Chapter 34: Leaving Lórien

The three should be worried about the trouble they are in. They are at the Fana Nirion, aren´t they? Maybe they will met Ingwion faster than they think. I still wonder why Glorfindel has this need to talk to Inwion and what Irmo knows about the plans of the three. This storm sounds like it is there with the purpose of getting them to a special place. And what action did the Reborn start in Lorien?

Author's reply

The reasons behind all this will be revealed before long, however, given the nature of the situation, it will take a couple more chapters to tell the entire story so you just need to be patient. We'll see just what the Reborn started in Lórien next chapter.

Agape4Gondor · 7 December 2008 · Chapter 34: Leaving Lórien

Oh my! A wee bit of deviousness... I do hope Glorfindel is right - that his comrades back in Lorien are not going to be in a heap of trouble... He, at least, has asked for trouble himself...

Author's reply

We'll find out in the next chapter just what Glorfindel asked his Reborn friends to do and just how much trouble they get into (and out of).

Agape4Gondor · 7 December 2008 · Chapter 33: A Conspiracy Amongst Gwedyr

Sometimes the 'notification' email does not come and I'm befuddled as I read a chapter that seems out of place. Then I go back a chapter and find out I am lost and must begin somewhere. I missed this chapter and am delighted I found it... if for nothing else to see the beginnings of another adventure that will probably end in near disaster...... Good grief - I had hoped Glorfindel would listen to Finrod - but I suppose that was too much to ask... Though, it seems when these elves follow their hearts - good does come from it... if given the chance. Great 'blue' chapter. :)

Author's reply

You may want to contact Nilmandra about not receiving alerts. I had to do that when I wasn't receiving review alertts and she was able to fix it. I'm glad you found this chapter nonetheless and enjoyed it. Whether good comes from their planned escapade or not remains to be seen.

Thalanee · 2 December 2008 · Chapter 33: A Conspiracy Amongst Gwedyr

I wonder how dear Glorfindel wants to get rid of the Maiar guarding him... propably by causing mayhe... ahm trouble. I can just see another round of rolling on the floor with laughter coming up ;-) Greetings, Thalanee

Author's reply

We'll see just what Glorfindel has planned in the next chapter. *grin*

Larner · 1 December 2008 · Chapter 33: A Conspiracy Amongst Gwedyr

Ah, the schemers are themselves being schemed upon! Heh! Now to see what it is they manage to accomplish--or ruin. Elves may be capable of being very devious, but that is even more true of the Maiar!

Author's reply

Scheming within scheming... just how it all ends up will be revealed soon enough. And the most devious of all are the Valar!

Independence1776 · 30 November 2008 · Chapter 33: A Conspiracy Amongst Gwedyr

Blue. His flet is bright blue. In a *mallorn.* Yes, I can see why the Nandor are avoiding it! Oh, this is not going to go well. If the Valar are afraid... "Disobey the Valar and you may end up as something much worse." *nods* I wouldn't want to find out personally. I really wouldn't. Sador and Beleg! Nope- Reborn will be Reborn and they're connected to Glorfindel. Makes them far more likely to get into trouble than anyone else in Valinor. Uh-oh... Reborn resentment against the Valar. This is taking a darker turn than I expected. Methinks the Valar will have some explaining to do sooner rather than later. So Irmo may be on Glorfindel's side. The next few chapters should be very interesting. I look forward to reading the Valar's reactions! ~ Indy

Author's reply

Thanks, Indy. I'm glad you are enjoying this. It may not be as dark a turn as you think, just typical Glorfindel. *grin*

GoldenFlower · 30 November 2008 · Chapter 33: A Conspiracy Amongst Gwedyr

LOVE the bright blue flet xD. You know, I always though Irmo to me more the silver/mithril type. Huh. Gar, my email is buggered. It doesnt send me alertssssses for EI anymore. That, or it updated a few seconds after I clicked off of Gmail. -nervoustwitch- Anyhow, wonderful writing, can't wait for more conspiring ellon, update soon! ~Gf

Author's reply

Thanks, GF. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. You know I update every week, so just be patient.

Naine · 30 November 2008 · Chapter 33: A Conspiracy Amongst Gwedyr

I have been rereading the chapter for the tenth time and I still must laugh aloud. The three of them plotting ... Glorfindel is even without Finrod a menace to civilization as the Amaneldi knew it ... and with the gwendyr of his. I'm looking forward to see the inevitable havoc when they reach Lady Nienna's. She will be probably sorry, that she did not issued a red carpet invitation for Glorfindel.

Author's reply

Hi Naine. I'm glad you are getting such a kick out of this chapter. *grin* We'll see soon enough the results of all this plotting. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.

Hel · 30 November 2008 · Chapter 33: A Conspiracy Amongst Gwedyr

A bright blue flet. Well, Tolkien said that the Noldor like bright colours. I wonder why the Valar think that a meeting of Glorfindel and Ingwion dangerous. And why glorfindel has such a strong feeling that he needs to met Ingwion. But I´m not surprised that those three attemp to get into trouble again. It sounds like Lord Irmo is suspecting that the tree wil try something. Why else would he call the Maya away? It will be interesting to see how they try to trick the Valar and Maya to get to Lady Nienna´s house.

Author's reply

Hi Hel. The next few chapters will show how the plotting works out and what happens because of it.

6336 · 30 November 2008 · Chapter 33: A Conspiracy Amongst Gwedyr

An unhappy Glofindel is not a pretty sight, I am glad he has his 'tree house' to retreat to and think. I think the Valar are misguided in not letting Glorfindel and Ingwion meet, they need to discuss what happened to them, it would help them heal. I have an idea just what route our three gwedyr will take to Tirion, it will involve a very large detour, westwards! More please, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. As to your idea of the route... we'll find out soon enough. *grin*

Sunny · 30 November 2008 · Chapter 33: A Conspiracy Amongst Gwedyr

Welll, bright blue isn't so bad. It could certainly have been much worse. Like bright _pink_. Or anything neon. *shudders* So there is plotting going on. Not a surprise, that. The only question is _who_ is plotting and _what_ they are plotting. This time it is obviously Glorfindel with Beleg and Sador. And it is a good thing he wasn't discussing any of his ideas with Finrod - first, since Finrod obviously doesn't approve of Glorfindel _insisting_ on going to see Ingwion when the Valar don't want them to meet right now, and might possibly even tell on him to the Valar; and second, that because of the synergistic effects of Finrod and Glorfindel being in cahoots about something, the Maiar would have been ten deep around the two of them, just to figure out whatever it was the two of them were going to be up to ;-) I suppose that Beleg and Sador just don't have a reputation for trouble beyond the usual. Yet. And Irmo has called off the watchers, has he? I suppose he may suspect that Glorfindel will want to go to Nienna's, no matter what anybody else are saying - and that Beleg and Sador might want to help with the plotting. That way he can be officially unaware of just _where_ the three of them are actually planning on going. As Sador said: "One thing I’ve learned since my release from Mandos is that there are no accidents, not where the Valar are concerned"

Author's reply

Irmo may well be practicing 'plausible deniablility' with the removal of the Maiar watch on Glorfindel. *grin* We'll see soon enough. And Sador is quite correct, with the Valar nothing is accidental or coincidental.

eiluj · 30 November 2008 · Chapter 33: A Conspiracy Amongst Gwedyr

Bright blue -- not a *bad* color, and it's a minimalist sort of flet at this point, and blue goes well with the tree's normal colors, so I don't see a problem. If it were a deciduous tree, there would be a very different effect during the winter. *blinks at the mental picture* But all in all, I think Irmo's gold would have been a better color scheme. The good news: Glorfindel's no longer moping. The bad news: he's making plans.... So Irmo called the Maiar away on purpose? Hmmm. But "perhaps in a few weeks"? That sounds as if maybe they're keeping Glorfindel away from Ingwion et al only until they get past something (maybe what just happened in the last chapter). Well, I'm looking forward to seeing what misadventures this merry adolescent crew happens upon on their way to "Tirion." Not to mention the inevitable havoc when they reach Nienna's.

Author's reply

With Glorfindel it's always a good news/bad news situation where that ellon is concerned. *lol* We'll see what he and his gwedyr come up with and the consequences that follow from it soon enough.

Kitty · 30 November 2008 · Chapter 33: A Conspiracy Amongst Gwedyr

Glorfindel offering to help Celepharn is quite a difference to the incident at the beginning of their acquaintance, but I have to admit I like this new Celepharn much more than the old one. They painted the fleet bright blue? Hmmm ... though blue is my favourite colour, I think I’d chosen green or yellow or maybe red to blend in better with the wood. Even gold would have been better. But of course, that wasn’t what these two had in mind *grin* Oh well, it was only to be expected that Glorfindel didn’t take well to the refusal to let him meet Ingwion. The Valar do that on their own peril, if you ask me *evil grin* Btw, wasn’t the name of Glorfindel’s friend Ecthelion, not Echthelion, as you spelled it twice? What a surprise to have Sador and Beleg showing up in Lórien! Was following their scheming alternating between amusement and worry, not being sure what will happen when they really try to sneak off to Nienna’s. And that Irmo called the Maiar away is highly suspicious, really. Can’t wait for the next update!!

Author's reply

Hi, Kitty. It's always a pleasure to read your reviews. You're right about the spelling of Ecthelion's name. Not sure how that got by me. Thanks for pointing it out to me. We will see in the next chapter just how clever (or not) these three ellyn truly are. *grin* And Irmo calling off the Maiar is indeed highly suspicious.

SgtBilko625 · 27 November 2008 · Chapter 32: Cilmë

Well, I figure I've haunted this place enough (and read all your stories enough times) to warrant a review. So: I absolutely adore all your stories; how you manage to balance good plot and characters (and good original characters - yeesh, I tend to have a lot of reservations about OCs, but you've proved that it *is* possible to have a decent OC!) with humor. I actually end up dropping by about once a day in hope of updates *blushes* (actually, I have no idea how I manage that - I have practically zero free time, *ponders the conundrum...*) I know a lot of people have mentioned this, but I just have to add that I LOVE your portrayal of Lord Námo! And Glorfindel! And Lord Námo and Glorfindel! I've always loved reading Námo and Glorfindel's interactions because it strikes a chord within me; I guess that while Glorfindel may be Manwe's apprentice (kind of) Námo seems to have taken up the role of father-figure (although technically Námo has to love all his charges equally - I guess there's just something special about Glorfindel. =P ) Sometimes I wish I could just stick those two in a room and watch the drama unfold! Great chapter, by the way! I thought the mysterious elf might have been Vorondil (elder) at first or maybe Eru, but then, Eru's been mighty busy of late with certain ellyn who shall remain nameless, and we can't expect Divine Intervention all the time, right? :) I'm very happy that Vorondil, Aldundil, and Ingwion are on their way towards healing - they deserve their peace. Eagerly awaiting the next installment, SgtBilko625

Author's reply

Hello, SgtBilko! I'm so glad you have been enjoying my stories, especially my portrayal of Námo and Glorfindel. They are certainly a pair, aren't they? I know a number of people were thinking the 'mysterious elf' was Vorondil, Sr. but he's only just been released from Mandos proper and is still in the Gardens of the Reborn. It'll be some time before he even makes it to Lórien. We may meet him eventually. I know many people are wary of OCs (including me!) so I've striven to make them as three-dimensional as possible, giving them back stories and keeping them as much within canon as possible (i.e., keeping them plausible within the framework of the Middle-earth universe). So I'm very pleased when people tell me they enjoy my OCs as much as they enjoy the canon characters (if not more so). At any rate, thank you so much for your review. I really appreciate you taking the time to letting me know how much you've been enjoying reading my stories. It means a lot to me.

Tari · 24 November 2008 · Chapter 32: Cilmë

At first I thought Iluvatar had assumed a body in order to get his children on the right track. I was delighted to find out it was Nienna. I really like Nyéreser, and sincerely hope we hear more from him.

Author's reply

No, Ilúvatar would not make an appearance in Eä at this time. Why do you think he had Glorfindel and Ingwion brought to him for their little chats? *grin* I'm glad you really like Nyéreser. He literally showed up in that valley, much to my surprise. *grin* We may see more of him in later chapters.

Agape4Gondor · 23 November 2008 · Chapter 32: Cilmë

I think I have finally figured out why I love Vorondil so - he is a typical Elf, per Tolkien... full of angst and sorrow and I really ponder if the elfling will end up slain in the future.... seems only plausible for an elf.... A very sad chapter as I just cannot stand to see the little one suffer so - though father and Ingwion suffered too - my heart broke for Vorondil...................................................... *heavy sigh*

Author's reply

Well, they are all typical Elves to one degree or another, and suffering is part of life, even for elflings. The key is does the person use their suffering to learn and grow or not. That, of course, is true even for us Mortals. I think this chapter was less sad and more hopeful considering *who* was behind it all and why. Each of the Elves needed to face certain truths and decide: Life or Death? It's a choice we all must make every day of our lives, whether we are aware of that or not. All that being said and done, I'm glad that you love Vorondil so much... he's quite adorable now, isn't he? *grin*
