Okay. This will probably never be finished, and that makes me sad. It's a really intriguing gap-filler! Unfortunately, we will never see the ending. :') Too bad I read it years late!

Ah, Jo, I didn't look back through the reviews to see if I'd left you a good word on this chapter, because if I did it was so long ago I don't remember anymore. This was a fun way to start the day. Frodo certainly *does* give lively parties! I love Fatty and his comment about food, drink, and entertainment. LOL! And Folco, casting back in his memory... reminds me of another scene I've read somewhere, with one character concentrating, trying to remember, and at least one other character trying to stop the process. It's so vague in my mind, all I remember is that much, and the name triumphantly popping out to somebody's consternation... *hug* Hope this finds you well.

“Oh-ho, Cousin Frodo! Better not be scolding me, had you? Glori taught me kissing and that’s as far as it went – what have you been up to, eh, to make you so edgy about the lass’s name?” LOL!!! What did Gandalf say? "There's more to this hobbit than meets the eye!" More indeed ;-) I'm looking forward to reading more!
Agape4Gondor · 2 May 2008 · Chapter 2: Kissing Cousins
Oh good grief - I was laughing out loud at this one - twice! Once with Pip and the kissing and with Frodo and the flowerbeds. Such fun!
Author's reply
And I laughed for joy that you had such fun with this chapter - and then hung my head for shame to be so slow in responding to your nice review! i'm sorry... jo
Agape4Gondor · 2 May 2008 · Chapter 1: Restless
Oh my! What an incredibly interesting beginning! Sounds like a very nice adventure - though I'm with Sam on Frodo returning alone. I can almost smell disaster in the air with Pip as his only companion from Buckland... Yikes!
Larner · 29 April 2008 · Chapter 2: Kissing Cousins
Our Frodo said THAT? Hehehehehe! He may be restless, but he does know how to have a good deal of fun in spite of it all. And dear, responsible Sam, forgiving him for the squashed mums. Now, how will the walkabout go, I wonder? Heh!

“Mr. Frodo? What’s going on here? You’re in the flowerbeds, Mr. Frodo; you’re squashing them flat, all them mums, begging your pardon, sir –“ Poor dear Sam. He doesn't know what to be more concerned about, his master or his well-tended flowerbeds!

Oh, this is going to be lovely! I haven't read anything of yours in such a long time. I'm looking forward to more.
Author's reply
It's been so long since I've written anything - thank you for such a heartwarming welcome back!
mews1945 · 20 April 2008 · Chapter 1: Restless
It's wonderful to see something new from you. I believed in Frodo's restlessness, and it makes sense that he needs to get away from home for a while. But it's worrisome that he's going on his own. Makes me wonder if he's going to get into difficulties. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.
Author's reply
Of course Frodo sees himself as the responsible adult of the excursion - and it's only a little walk through the Shire, how much trouble could he get into -
Queen Galadriel · 13 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Restless
Hi! Haven't been around here much lately (life is busy, between school and the writing of my own original stuff and oodles of other tiny things that pile up), but I'm so glad to have found something new from you just beginning! You write restlessness very well. I could feel it quite keenly. Poor Frodo, that's a horrible feeling. But I'm gladhe found something to look forward to...though I have the oddest feeling that all is not going to go well and all will wish Sam *had* come before it's over...but maybe that's my sense of the potential for angst running away with me. :) And the end made me laugh. That couldn't have been easy! :D Can't wait for more! God bless, Galadriel
Author's reply
>And the end made me laugh. That couldn't have been easy!< Indeed! I have enough trouble with Spanish verbs - Elvish doesn't even bear thinking about! But Frodo is far more the scholar than I'll ever be. I'm so glad you liked the beginning of this new story. Thanks for reviewing, and God bless you too! jo
Cuthalion · 13 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Restless
That's beautiful - like coming home to a beloved house, after a long trip through coldness and rain (even if Frofo's trip is just about to begin. *smiles*)My heart is bleeding a bit for poor Sam, though I can understand Frodo's wish to run free for a while very well. And Pippin's letter was a hoot! Can't wait to see more, m< dear. Cúthalion
Author's reply
Ah, poor Sam. Frodo loves him, but not yet as much as he will. He'll probably regret leaving him home, however... I'm so glad you like it, amiga! jo
Lindelea · 11 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Restless
Well, didn't get to read yesterday--when dawn came I was trying to grab a few more winks, after being wakened several times in the night by the young hobbits, for one reason or another... but today is another day. Right off you remind me of why I love your hobbity writing, with a delectable meal I can nearly smell cooking. Frodo, restlessly prowling Bag End, his dissatisfaction coming to a sharp point in surveying the shabbiness of Bilbo's room, brings to mind an echo of his friends watched him anxiously Ai, Daisy Boffin and her husband! I wouldn't invite them again, either. (I do hope Merry and Pippin and Folco and Freddy stuck up for Frodo and Bilbo, even if they made a jest of it.) Images that hang in my mind... a trail of ink droplets across the page chrysanthemums under the study window shining gold as a dragon’s hoard Frodo's restlessness embodied in the wind and weather, the flock of sparrows winging their way to summer lands. I wonder what his dreams of Bilbo mean? I haven't seen any gap-fillers describing Bilbo's wanderings after he left the Shire for good. Ah, Lotho, that hobbit we love to despise. Poor fellow. Putting the walking party together was fun to read. I can hear your Folco's voice in my head, well characterized in a sentence or two. Sam the spaniel! (Faithful fellow... ah, but Frodo, you're the devious one, knowing just what handle to take him up by--was going to say "button to push" but that doesn't sound hobbity) There is much more I could say, but then the review would go on longer than the story! (And young hobbits ought to be pitter-pattering about at any time, now.) Hmm. I wonder just what trouble Frodo (with or without Pip) is going to get himself into. In the meantime, I'm thirsty for fresh-pressed cider, but will have to settle for tea. Looking forward to more!

Oh, I do love your reviews! Thank you so much for enjoying the story - it's fun to write, and then more fun to read the responses - THIS is what I've been missing! >I wonder what his dreams of Bilbo mean? I haven't seen any gap-fillers describing Bilbo's wanderings after he left the Shire for good.< Hmmm... plot-bunnies? That could be a fun trail to follow. Spring's peeking out in my corner of the Shire - hope it is in yours, as well. jo
Andrea · 10 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Restless
An intriguing start, indeed! So, Frodo managed to get rid of Sam? Clever hobbit ;-) No, really, he had to put a stop to this, or Sam would be moving into Bag End lock, stock, and barrel, and he'd never draw free breath again. That I can understand, very well! Let's see what awaits our three cousins without Sam to help. P.S.: I have no idea what a "corker" might be, and my dictionary neither. Would you give me a clue?
Author's reply
A corker is - well, a bit of a wild card. Never know what they'll do next, but it will almost certainly be exasperating, and if you're responsible for said corker, may involve you in embarrassment and possibly paying for broken windows, etc. Funny, it's a word I've used all my life, but I can't find it in the dictionary either! Thank you for the kind words, Andrea! jo
shirebound · 10 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Restless
A most intriguing start, Jo! I love Pippin's exuberant reply, and Sam's obvious devotion. :)
Author's reply
Thank you! (it's funny, you know - I think my idea of Pippin owes as much to Lindelea as to Tolkien, by now...) jo

Two Daisy Boffins, are there--his Uncle Dudo Baggins's daughter who married Griffo Boffin and this unknown cousin of his mother's? Interesting! And this one does sound a corker--her and her husband! Glad he doesn't have to have much to do with her, and don't blame him for not inviting her again! And it was a clever way to keep Sam from accompanying him, I must say! Heh!
Author's reply
(blushing) Ah well, I suppose hobbit parents have the same problem I do: there are only so many flowers that make nice names! There must be a lot of Daisies and Rosies residing in the Shire, when you think about it.
Lindelea · 10 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Restless
O Jo!!!! So glad to see this! Am just checking email at bedtime, and set this aside for early morning reading. Wonderful motivator for getting up out of a warm, snuggly bed! *hugs*

Sorry to be so late in replying - I saved all my writing for Saturday - but your warm welcome back to writing really brightened my day! Hugs you back - jo
