"...and when next we meet, beyond the is bounds of Arda, we will have a great deal to talk about..." THAT is what keeps drawing me back to the Good Professor's stories, and those of you who play in Tolkien's world. That sense of HOPE. That sense that "Arda Marred" is not all that their is to our existence, and that none whom we have loved will truly be lost. As always, a Shirebound story is full of Love and Light!
Author's reply
Thank you so much. "Love and Light" is always what I try to convey, and knowing that it's coming through in my tales makes my heart very happy.

Aww, what sweet surprises for Bilbo and Frodo! That was a nice birthday celebration. All that's missing is the birthday cake!
Author's reply
Maybe Elrond will bring around a cake after supper! I'm glad you enjoyed this idea of the hobbits' birthdays being celebrated and honored even in the West.

This is a such a sweet story. It's wonderful to think of them in a hobbit-y home on the island.
I usually don't read stories set in the West but I'm glad I made the exception this time.
Author's reply
I'm glad you did, too! It makes my heart happy to imagine the hobbits living a respected, loved, and fulfilling life in the West.

What a sweet celebration of The Birthday! Those are loving gifts from a beloved king to his dear friends. I love Aragorn's faith and trust that he and Bilbo would meet again and catch up on news and hear more poetry. Truly this is a man who loves his people.
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
Who has learned better to hope, than our beloved Estel? :)
I'm so glad you enjoyed this, and that I had something to share for our hobbits' special day.

How perfect the gift! And the key is absolutely perfect! Ah, yes, a fitting gift from all to these two heroes past all expectation!
Author's reply
Thank you! I like to think that Thorin would smile at the thought of Burglar Baggins being the eventual guardian of that key.

A beautiful story, Shirebound. I love to find another story of yours.
I've always thought that the connection between Frodo and his loved ones would be like that, no matter how many miles separate them.
How lovely to bring in Goldberry - I've often wondered about her and her origins.
Also interesting that water is so often seen as sacred. We have rivers and pools in Britain which are still seen as holy places, and this has been so for thousands of years. No to mention that water was believed to be a gateway between worlds.
Author's reply
Thank you, my friend. Middle-earth represents such magic and potential, and it's wonderful to feel that our world has the same possibilities. I'd love to visit Britain someday.

What a sweet, wonderful story! I am glad Frodo received such a loving blessing when the pain of separation was still so fresh. I add my own thanks to Goldberry and her sister. Indeed there is no separation between those who are joined at the heart. We also know his dreams are visions and more real than ordinary dreams so that is another connection to home that he can share in.
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

I'm very happy you enjoyed this. I know you share my delight whenever Frodo is shown love and respect, and also new paths to growth and healing.

“Waters of Arda,” she murmured, “let the healing begin.”
Wow! I did not know how to describe it, but it is like Lindelea said: It reads like poetry!
I especially like the idea that the Waters of Arda link all places and all people, so that they can always be together where-ever they are.
Author's reply
I'm so happy you like this, Andrea. *beams and bounces* I love the line in The Silmarillion where Ulmo says, "Water is become now fairer than my heart imagined, neither had my secret thought conceived the snowflake, nor in all my music was contained the falling of the rain." There's something special about water in the Professor's world.

How sweet this offering of healing, as he finds a direct tie to Goldberry, and thus to Middle Earth. I am glad her sister chose to come to Frodo's healing. Lovely imagery here!
Author's reply
Thank you. There's still so much to be imagined about Goldberry's 'back story' as well as her life and future. It's such a joy to imagine her remembering Frodo in this way. They certainly seemed to have an instant bond.

This is a great idea to have Bilbo and Frodo compose songs and poetry together. I love the idea that Irmo gave them a shared vision to get them going. That should keep them occupied for a good long while.

My apologies for the delay in responding to your sweet review. It's lovely to imagine the hobbits so at home in the West, still busy and creative and respected by their friends.

· Chapter 2: Never Too Late
I just picked Chapter 9 off of the new entry page. I realized it has been too long since I read anything by Shirebound, and, that I have not reviewed any of these lovely little gems, yet. Yes, I have read all of the discussions as to why it was unlikely any mortal hobbits could have lived long enough to have those grand reunions in the Undying Lands. But I simply prefer not to believe them! Admittedly, both sides of the questions have produced some beautiful, hope-filled stories. But if anyone deserves a bit of special intervention from the Valar and The One to whom the Valar could appeal, it would be these two who called out to Elbereth in the darkness of Cirith Ungol, and who were the special favorites of Yavanna, protector of growing things. There had to be some special dispensation available so that they could discover that beautiful beach together! ( By the way, you were one of the first authors whose stories I read seven years ago when I first discovered SOA. And your are still one of my most favorite! So good to see you are still writing.)
Author's reply
Thank you for your truly lovely comments! I'm happy to still be writing, and very honored and pleased you're still reading and enjoying these tales. It's very important to me to imagine the hobbits' new life in the West -- filled with peace, healing, friends, creativity, and joy.

How beautiful! They should have started much earlier to write together.
“It appears we’re in for a new adventure, Uncle.”
Bilbo beamed at him happily. “And whyever not? Remember what I taught you, dear boy? About the Road?”
“It goes ever on and on,” Frodo said quietly.
These lines are simply perfect!

Thank you, Andrea! I truly appreciate your lovely comments, and especially when you highlight lines that you particularly like. *beams*

Sorry that it has taken me so long to get here, my dear. This is splendid, especially the first line and I think the title too. I hope with Erestor that we will see this new song! Surprised and pleased that Bilbo had the energy to stay up all night but when you are doing something you love, time passes without notice.
