As you know I'm not a Lothiriel/Eomer lover -- solely a lover of your fine writing -- but I simply didn't get it. Should the mare have been a present to Lothiriel? And if so, what's wrong? Maybe one could think a fine foal from the mare and a fine son from Lothiriel -- okay.
I like your stories very much although I don't like so much the protagonists.
But I will continue to read your Lothiriel/Eomer universe!
Author's reply
Hello Irene,
this is just a bit of fun. I wanted the reader to think that the first bit is about Eomer when it's really about his stallion. The mare belongs to Lothiriel and Firefoot got away during the night and covered her, thus causing a bit of a diplomatic incident.
And I'm pleased to hear you like my Eomer/Lothiriel stories. Thanks for reviewing!

I loved it and the descriptions were beautiful, however could there be anymore of this story? It would be a good one. Thankyou for this gift and Merry Christmas a day late and a Happy New Year!!!!!! (confetti flys all over) Hugs The Imp
Author's reply
Hello Elflingimp,
I'm afraid that I'm not really planning to develop this scenario any further. It was really just a bit of nonsense that begged to be written.
A Happy New Year to you as well!

Oh, those crazy kids; starting an international incident by fooling around in the stables. And that's just the horses! Lovely vignette. The breeders' negotiations are going to be very interesting; though I imagine that both Snowflake and Lothiriel will be bound to Rohan before the foal is born. (Lothiriel could thank her mare for getting a good start on the dowry, LOL)
Well done!
Author's reply
Hello Raksha,
it would be interesting to pursue what the legal consequences to this little incident would be. Although like you, I get the impression that the point will soon be moot ;-) Thanks for reviewing!

Oh, this was absolutely wonderful! And well worth waiting for. I've enjoyed all the fics in this collection and this one is just as fun to read as the others were. I can just see Firefoot's smug expression the next morning! As well as Eomer's gobsmacked one when he saw Lothiriel.
WOnderful!
Author's reply
Hello Edlyn,
Firefoot stole a march on his master here, didn't he. Although I get the impression that Eomer won't be far behind. I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed this story and thanks for reviewing!

An enjoyable short piece--there seems to be no limit to the possible scenarios for our favorite couple. Firefoot is worth his weight in gold. ;-D BTW, just a little question, have you considered having her try to seduce him?
Merry Christmas to you too!
Author's reply
Hello Whitewave,
I don't know where all these scenarios keep coming from. There are more, in fact, but I haven't got the time to get them all down. The 'seduction scenario' would also be fun to write, but it might not be very long ;-)

Oooh...definitely one of my favourites in th Eomer/Lothiriel series. I liked the fairly fun flirting between them and also the mischief in Lothy's character.
And I loved her driving Amrothos absolutely mad AND making him lose the bet and his ego.
I also liked the fairytale with the Arabian Nights flavour....I thought that names like Mansoor and Caliph sounded familiar!!
PS: Salwar Kameez? Somehow I find it weird to imagine Lothiriel in one! It's not a muslim exclusive dress btw....its more of a Hindu dress.
Author's reply
Hello Shadowfax,
yes, this is a very light-hearted scenario and was fun to write. Also a more flirtatious Lothiriel than usual, although she got a bit of a surprise there. It might make for an interesting courtship.
I wanted to give this an oriental flavour, so I thought why not have the people from Gondor's south adapt some Turkish-inspired clothing. I've seen the Salwar Kameez worn mainly in the Muslim world, but it's true Hindus wear it as well. No idea who invented it first.
It's good to hear you enjoyed it and thanks for taking the time to review!

I was browsing through my reviews and saw that I forgot to post something for this one. Eomer and Lothy's first meeting scene is so dynamic and very, very funny! Loved every single word and I just thought I'd let you know. Thanks for sharing.
Author's reply
Hello Whitewave,
it was quite a challenge to come up with as much damage that she could do to him as possible - like you noted, it makes for a dynamic meeting scene. lol! I was thinking I might add some more scenarios to this collection one day. I don't lack for ideas, more for the time to write them down.
Thanks for reviewing!

The start of this story was refreshing in that Eomer was a bit of a pain but very humorous and engaging as well. Loved their outburst in the hall! I could imagine what the others' faces must have looked like!
Author's reply
Hello Whitewave,
I wanted to portray a slightly different Eomer for once, one who is still struggling with the losses in his life, and is not exactly tactful about it. And I'm sure the scene in the hall was quite a sight!

Loved how the fairy tale foreshadowed what happened. Very cleverly written! Felt very sorry for Amrothos during the "coins" scene--what must be running through his mind!
Author's reply
Hello again,
I've read a lot of fairy tales to my children over the years, so I enjoyed mixing some into an Eomer/Lothiriel scenario. And lol about poor Amrothos. I bet it wasn't the first time that Lothiriel made him want to tear his hairs out. But now Eomer can take over that duty ;-)

· Chapter 1: Letters to Edoras
I loved this very much, as usual! Loved how the couple's closeness increased with every letter, with subtle signs here and there and at the start I did not expect that he will come over to Dol Amroth for her. Very nice and sweet and the length was most satisfactory--I didn't look at the clock at all. My favorite was the Belechtor incident--t'was so funny.
Author's reply
Hello Whitewave,
this one is probably my favourite amongst this collection of short stories and it flowed really easily when I wrote it last summer. Probably because I tend to write chatty letters with lots of PSes!
And yes, Lothiriel reeled him in quite effortlessly without ever intending to. A good start to their relationship.

This is my favorite of your one-shots. Belecthor is always good for a laugh, but here he has outdone himself. I loved Lothiriel burning his book. A fitting kind of revenge.
I loved the tension you created between Eomer and Lothiriel. For a while I was really worried for her, but luckily Eomer got himself under control before he did irreparable harm. But I can understand him, too. Comes there this raggedly looking boy, sets his camp ablaze and absconds with his favorite horse. No wonder he was livid.
I hope RL gives you a breather now and then so that you can give us some more stories.
Author's reply
I might have to make a little compilation of Belecthor's sayings one day - he's so inspiring! One of those calendars you hang up in the kitchen with a quote for every month ;-)
And it's good to hear I got you worried for Lothiriel - that was the intention. I hope he would have come to his senses eventually anyway (or else got hit over the head by Eothain), but she really did add insult to injury!
Unfortunately RL still hasn't eased up, I've had one cold after the other the last month. The only thing I wrote was a short oneshot for Christmas featuring Eomer and Lothiriel from 'Yours to Command'. But I'm hoping for the new year.
Thanks for reviewing!

Oh, what a lovely scenario. I love grumpy Eomer. The description of the scenery at the proposal site was very vivid. I could really see it in my mind.
Author's reply
LOL, in fact 'Grumpy Éomer' was my working title until I conceived of the one I used in the end. And thanks for your praise! I tend to put in too much dialogue and not enough description, as I find the first much easier to write.

Hi Lia!
These are stunningly original and absolutey delightful! I have enjoyed reading each vignette even more than the last, and must confess that I felt a bit disappointed when I realized this one was the last... LOL!
I hope you do add to them as your muse and your schedule allow. Very well done!

P.S. I'm sooooo glad she burned Belecthor's book!
Author's reply
Hello Barbara,
Thank you for your praise! I had a lot of fun writing these and would like to add more...unfortunately real life keeps interfering. There is another story in the works at the moment, but it looks like turning into a multi-chapter one. I will have to see how that develops, but I hope to add to these vignettes again some day.

P.S: And I'm against burning books, but in this case maybe there are extenuating circumstances...

Lia, I just loved this! It may be the best by far! The quotations are hilarious. Your description of when Lothiriel was running away from the baker and all the way to her running from Eomer because she stole Firefoot was very suspenseful and descriptive. The part of including Morwen is something I've never read in any fanfic for Lothiriel and Eomer until now. I always thought she was dead by now, but with the age note at the end it's quite probable that she could be alive at the end of the War of the Ring.
Thanks so much for this and I do hope that you still have to time to relax between now and next year!
Alquawende
Author's reply
Hello Alquawende,
Making up the quotations was actually a lot of the fun, plus thinking what other unladylike things Lothiriel could do to poor Eomer. As for Morwen, I always thought as well that she'd be dead, but I was looking for some information in the appendix the other day, found her date of birth and thought I could get away with her still being alive. It makes a nice connection between them (and a reason for Eomer to visit his grandmother!).
And thank you for your good wishes. I hope to have more spare time again in the new year - there is no lack of plot bunnies, just of time!

Lovely, lovely lovely! The moment I read the name of Morwen of Lossarnach, I started grinning, and then this delightful little tale unfolded in all its glory and gave me everything from happy, little shrieks to loud laughter. I thought you might enjoy a little more Belecthor, I'm getting rather fond of him myself! I was rereading the appendix to RotK, researching the House of Eorl, and realized Morwen would not have been impossibly old at the time of the Ring War, so this seemed to be a good opportunity to bring her into a story. As a counterpoint to poor Aunt Ivriniel so to speak. Good to hear I made you laugh!

I do like the assumptions made and the comedy of manners feel to his attempts to brush off yet another "ambitious lady" :) That she rises above it with such style much have provided a few irksome moments before he reassessed the situation.
These ficlets/vignettes/things are wonderful, with this one being my favourite (so far!).
Thank you, looking forward to more.
Author's reply
This started off as a serious fic, but descended into humour the moment I considered how he could put off prospective Queens of Rohan - and how he meets his match in Lothiriel, who doesn't even want to marry him.
There is one more oneshot to come, the longest one, but then I will unfortunately have to take a break for RL. I did start another story, but it shows signs of turning into a multi-chapter one, so I will have to see how that develops.
Thanks for reviewing!
