I loved hearing a tale from Frodo like that, and younger Merry is adorable! I especially loved how Bilbo was nodding his head to what the both of them and not understanding a thing

Author's reply

This was a fun story to write. Frodo and Merry had to be best friends, especially when Frodo lived in Buckland.

Adanwen · 23 November 2016 · Chapter 1

This was the sweetest thing to read on a sad day, and it made me laugh so much!:D Thank you for sharing!<3<3<3

Author's reply

Adanwen, I'm delighted this little tale brought a smile to your face when you needed it. Thank you for letting me know that. Bless our hobbits, and bless the Professor for bringing them into our lives!

PSW · 15 November 2015 · Chapter 1

Blue hair, hmm? Yes, that would be quite ... vivid. :-P I bet w all the hobbits running around Brandy Hall, they're not the only two with 'squeezles.' But it's easy to see how they became so close -- there's just something about going through that kind of thing together ... Thanks for writing!

Author's reply

Thank you so much. This was such a fun story to write.

Oh, this was cute. Poor Merry and Frodo, but at least they were together in their misery. So some matronly Hobbits Have blue hair do they, not something you see too much of these days, both blue hair and matronly Hobbits?! Lynda

Author's reply

This was such fun to write. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

WhitewolfofDarkness · 3 November 2007 · Chapter 1

Author's reply

Yes, Frodo's lucky no one really *did* buy his wee cousin! Glad you enjoyed this, Whitewolf. It was fun to write. :)

Baggins Babe · 13 October 2007 · Chapter 1

What a lovely tale - you must know how much I love snuggly, recovering hobbits, and that story was so funny. Fancy Frodo trying to sell baby Merry! I could just see that little hobbit baby covered in lip rouge too! Delightful, as always

Author's reply

Awww, thank you. I definitely share your love of snuggly, cared-for, recovering hobbits, wee or adult.

Larner · 12 October 2007 · Chapter 1

Blue hair? Aunt Amaranth has BLUE hair? Hehehehehe! Poor Merry, for sale and Frodo gets some coins and he gets covered with lip rouge! Lovely tale of two young lads on the mend.

Author's reply

Thank you. This fic challenge on Livejournal was to write a story tailored to someone else's 'wishlist', and I had a lot of fun with it. Poor Aunt Amaranth, assuming everyone's appreciating her lovely hair! :)

Tigger · 11 October 2007 · Chapter 1

Ooooh....What a lovely and wonderfully fluffy thing to find on a blustery and rainy October night. Hurries over and huggles poor sick wee hobbit lads I had the squeezles when I was eight and it was Christmas time to boot!! Not one of my more enjoyable Christmases or favourite childhood memories as I'm sure you can imagine. What is it w/sibling jealousy over a brand new baby and that older brother/sister wanting to sell the little one or give him/her away? It seems every kid tries to pull that one off. I was wondering when my cousin's young lady was going to try it w/her three month old baby brother and sure enough...Guess what kind of an offer was made to my parents when they were up for a visit a couple of weeks ago? Miss Julia's parents were less than pleased as you can imagine. ;o) This was just so wonderfully fluffy. Exactly what was needed after the last few weeks I've had. I'm planning on doing an entry over at my LJ on what exactly's been going on for the last close to five years w/this thing. One of my oldest and dearest friends has been after me to do that and to try and get some advice of what to do or who to turn to next, but after the last three and a half weeks and the visit to the ER last Friday...I don't think time is on my side for much longer. But that is for tomorrow/later today since it's 3:30am here right now. Oh and when ever I read about an elderly lady/hobbit matron having blue/purple hair, I instantly see in my mind's eye that scene in Fried Green Tomatoes when Jessica Tandy's character's had her hair done by the Hair Dressing School students who come in as part of volunteer service they do at the Nursing Home. What kills me every time is the look of delight she has on her face over how lovely a job the little itty bitty girl did of it too. The look on Kathy Bates' face when she sees her w/this...this...blue hair and doesn't want to burst her friend's bubble. One of my very favourite movies scenes period!! :o) This was just so perfect for a windy night and a cup of Chai Tea. Ohhhh....I just can't resist doing this one last time before taking off... Runs over and gives Frodo and Merry one last huggle. :oD

Author's reply

The hobbits are just delighted with all your huggles, Tigger! I'm so glad this could cheer up your blustery night. I don't think either of us can ever get enough of fluffy, happy hobbits. *huggles you right back*

Pearl Took · 10 October 2007 · Chapter 1

Delightful shirebound! I love the "Squeezles", and the story about Frodo going about the Hall offering a cute baby Merry for sale is precious.

Author's reply

Thank you, Pearl. I do love wee!hobbits. :)

harrowcat · 10 October 2007 · Chapter 1

Oh *happy grin*. I almost wish I had the squeezles. But only if I also had Frodo AND Bilbo to tell me a story!

Author's reply

I agree, the squeezles would only be bearable if we were surrounded by tale-telling, snuggly hobbits. :)

Armariel · 10 October 2007 · Chapter 1

The word "cute" certainly does come to mind, for some reason...must try to think why. Gimme a few days, I'll come up with something or other.....:D:D:D:D *tries to think why the word "cute" comes to mind* *clueless* *sighs* *thinks some more* *getting exasperated* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<<<

Author's reply

Oh dear, did some 'cute' get into this story by mistake? However does that keep happening... :)

Andrea · 10 October 2007 · Chapter 1

Perfect, shirebound! And with the last two words you even answered my question concerning aunt Amaranth's hair colour ;-) “He didn’t, though,” Merry said confidently. “But I got all kissed so he got the squeezles with me, because Aunt Amaranth said so.” LOL!!! If I didn't know better, I would say that this is "Pippish" :)

Author's reply

Awwww, Pippish! I love that word. I'm glad you enjoyed this bit o' fluff. :D

Antane · 10 October 2007 · Chapter 1

A fun story! Bilbo's reactions are just adorable. Just a tad of angst/heartache for Merry though who doesn't know that his world is about to collapse. But nice to see Frodo joyful. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

It's very important to me that Frodo is joyful. Thank you for reading!

Lily · 10 October 2007 · Chapter 1

*grins* That's lovely!!! And it reminds me of a story I wanted to write - multi chaptered!!! Hopefully I will find time for that one fine day in 5 years.

Author's reply

Glad you enjoyed! I hope we *all* find time somehow to write all the stories we want to share.

Dinossiel · 10 October 2007 · Chapter 1

This is a very funny story. I think that Frodo was very naughty to try and sell Merry, and I think they both deserved the measles for all their pranks.

Author's reply

Thank you, Dinossiel. I had fun writing this. :)

Lindelea · 10 October 2007 · Chapter 1

Oops, just realised I meant "favouritest" cousin. I knew that didn't look right when I typed it! Tiniest hobbit is ill today, might be strep, we're tootling along to the doctor's later this morning for a swab. I'm going to read Aunt Amaranth's Revenge aloud, as soon as I'm done typing this, to cheer the miserable little soul, and thanks so much for providing such appropriate and cheering reading matter. (Come to think of it, littlest was awfully cute as a baby...)

Author's reply

I hope this little fluff-fest cheers up your wee one, and that he (or she) feels much better soon.

Lindelea · 10 October 2007 · Chapter 1

*leaning back in my chair with a chuckle* O but this was *exactly* what I needed this morning! Pure fluff but such *pure* fluff if you take my meaning. I love the obvious love between Frodo and Merry (poor Merry, about to be abandoned by his favouritist cousin, and blissfully unaware of the fact), Bilbo's easy way with the boys, the *vivid* shade of hair (but don't say it to her face)... Perfectly done, as always. (And Merry is to swoon for, o so cute. How *could* Frodo bear to leave him? Bet he was tempted to smuggle him along in the baggage.) Merry started to count that up, but ran out of fingers and toes.

Author's reply

Yay, I'm glad this gave you a chuckle when you needed it. Thank you so much. :)

White Gull · 10 October 2007 · Chapter 1

Oh, this was so sweet and funny. And a bit sad, thinking of Frodo getting his payback. I wish it truly was getting "spotted" like Merry, only maybe not by doting gammers. :) WG

Author's reply

I can never get enough of sweet 'n fluffy! Thankfully, the lads are recovering nicely, and it made for a fun story to tell Merry.
