The enemy of course is no other than saurmon the white. If I spelt his name correctly. Great Job. I hope you write more on the Lord of the ring or even the hobbit.

I've enjoyed this story and cannot stop reading. You've done an awsome job and should write your own books. I needed to make a critque however, I believe you placed legalos in a healing position where estel should have been. After all estel is the King who bring healing to his people. He have the hands of healing; not legalos. This is only my personal opinion and I'll keep reading, as I'm enjoying this. Please keep writing more.

I'm glad I pestered you with my messages and that you answered, for this is truly a great story. I really liked it, and as it was much easier to read it was very enjoyable. Good job done, on this one :) I'll make sure to chek out your other ones.

Wow, GREAT story Sheraiah! I really enjoyed it a lot. It almost felt like 2 separate stories wound as one, and it was really neat. The orc attack to Leggy being healed was the first part and the attack on the Keep (and successive attacks on our beloved elves) to the end would be the 2nd part. Very well Done. I did think it was Saruman, only because the assassin had seen "a flash of white" from the cloaked man. And of course, leave it to me to question ages in my review 2 chapters before you explain the ages of Legolas and Estel! LOL And the 'face-in-the-mud' bit... boys will be boys, whether elf or human! And I really would love to see more of Leggy's visits to Lilia as she grows; does he give his blessing to her marriage to Daeren? (OK.. DUH! LOL) But I have to say, I think my FAVORITE line has to be this: “Come, Ada. I would introduce you to the remaining Fellowship.” He drew his father to the door of the study. “Oh, and Ada, please be polite to the dwarf. He is my friend.” Hee hee! So full of meaning! LOVED it! :) Wonderful, wonderful story my dear. Keep it up! Oh, and don't be surprised by the sudden influx of reviews from me-- a loooong, slow day at work prompted me to sift thru your stories and I read several that day... and am just getting around to reviewing. :) God Bless, Dayna :)

Daynawayna · 29 April 2007 · Chapter 17: 17

Where do I start? Sheraiah, this story is AMAZING! You must know that the "only" reason I started this story was because I was going to read The Conversation and you said I'd be lost if I didn't read this one first. THANK YOU! :) I want to comment on all the little nuiances in the story, but having devoured the first 17 chapters in 2 days, I find I'm 'forgetting' little parts! Grr! This is what happens when you read at work and then forget to review at home! :( Your characters are so well written Sheraiah: I love love love love love Thranduil's watchfullnes over his injured son, and his banter with Elrond. He is such a concerned and doting father; I like seeing this Thranduil a lot. I like that Haldir's there, and Glorfindel as well. And Estel's concern for Legolas... so touching! I like the youthfulness you've written in both Estel and Leggy. It's very fitting and well done. But above all else let me just say that I love your Legolas. I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how old he is though, given that Estel is there and appears very young himself. Elf and Numeneorian aging confuses me anyways, but I like the "younger" Leggy here. I'm guessing this must have been 30-40ish years prior to LOTR? Whatever.. I digress. Your angst is gripping and I'm an angsty kinda gal. Father to son, friend to friend ("adult" elves and "young" elves)... you've got it nailed. And then there's Lilia. What a dolly! I like that she's so taken with Leggy and how she eases his pain and distracts him from his father's illness. I hope there's more of her impishness before all's said and done!

Just finished it, lovely. lovely, lovely. Cheers, Helen

Am really enjoying this story - and I think your assessment of L's age is the most likely (I've always thought that his tendency to be open to new things and his unfortunate habit of befriending short-lived beings was a result of both his youth (hadn't visited Lothlorien before FOTR), his "sad" childhood (was an efficient despatcher of orcs, so obviously a good warrior, therefore Mirkwood had been "visited" by orcs/spiders/whatever for long enough for this to happen) - I think his mother had died/sailed early on in his life, and that there must have been a positive encounter with Men when he was young (Thranduil found Galadriel a problem, dwarves too (remember Doriath) and so probably had a problem with Men too - bar trade ) so L didn't get this readiness to befriend mortals from his father!), and a destiny handed down to him.) Phew - sorry about that run-on sentence, hope it makes sense to you! The only thing I found a bit jarring was that the reason given for Estel to not assist in the healing was that his elven blood was too dilute - but we know from FOTR that he used Athelas to aid Frodo and that it (healing) was a gift - and a sign he *was* the rightful King. This is great stuff (already ready The Conversation and The Aftermath), my favourite fan fiction is set before LOTR, and there isn't enough of it! (at least I haven't found enough ) Cheers and please keep it up - it's great stuff, Helen

That was so lovely....I've enjoyed this story so much over the last few months, and really am quite sad that the it has come to its end... Thank you for sharing your writing with us all! I look forward to your future work with much anticipation.... :)

Fadesintothewest · 25 January 2004 · Chapter 23: Epilogue

SO it ends, I cannot say at least b/c that means no more, but hopefully you will bring us more of your brilliant Legolas. Gimli and Legolas' relationship was spot on, their endless banter had me laughing. Yet there was also much sadness as we know how the story ends, but it is a beautiful thing you captured nonetheless, that of friendship and love. Thanks for sharing your story with us!

Sheleigh · 25 January 2004 · Chapter 23: Epilogue

Sheraiah, I have to admit, having sat down and read this from start to finish... I am amazed. I adored the whole of this beautiful story you have; it has truly been a pleasure to read. Can't wait to see more of your works! Best wishes, Sheleigh

LKK · 16 January 2004 · Chapter 22: 22

My guess is Saruman. Great story, Sheraiah. I followed this at various locations but no matter where you posted, I always enjoyed picking it up again. Good job. :-) LKK

It was great to get an update but very sad to see it was the last chapter I have so much enjoyed this story. I love your take on Thranduil and Legolas and their loving father son relationship and the friendship between the two elven realms. In fact I love all of it and can't imagine how I am going to manage without the hope of a new chapter to look forward to Have to look out for sequels instead As for the assassin's boss cold it be Saruman or Denethor? (just hedging my bets there!) J

naneth · 15 January 2004 · Chapter 22: 22

An update-oh thank you, thank you, thank you! I had really forgotten that this was your first LOTR fanfic...Wow! You really did a "bang up" job on your first story. I kind of hate to see it end, but like the hint of sequels to come! I'm too brain dead today to figure out "who done it". So keep writing for all us loyal fans that love your work!

daw the minstrel · 15 January 2004 · Chapter 22: 22

Well, I have no idea who the enemy is, but I did enjoy this chapter. Legolas, Haldir, Estel and company make for a fearsome sight. No wonder the man was nervous. And Thranduil would just wipe the floor with him. Ah the Elven King!

Karri · 14 January 2004 · Chapter 22: 22

Saruman would be my guess, though I shan't add a guess as to why he would want to assassinate Thranduil. Of course, it could also be some mysterious Sindarin elf with a grudge, but assassination doesn't really seem an elvish thing to contract. Well, anyway, a terrific story. I'm glad it wasn't forgotten and left unfinished.

lizy · 11 January 2004 · Chapter 21: Ch 21

i hate cliffies but i loved the story so ill let you off, *evil grin* please please let me know when you update!

linzy · 10 January 2004 · Chapter 1: 1

wow i would really love to read this but,,,,,,,,,,its to freakin small!!!!!could you maybe change the font size? id like to read it and unfortunately i dont have elven sight!

Author's reply

linzy, Try adjusting the font size on your Internet Explorer. That's usually the culprit. ;-) I had to adjust mine, in the opposite direction after one of my kids decided to play with my computer.

Veasse Taure · 30 December 2003 · Chapter 21: Ch 21

I really, really like this story. The relationship between Legolas and Thranduil is pure joy to read about.(eh, not sure if that sentence makes sense...) I loved the scenes with young elven pranks, and Lilia is a wonderful character. Keep up the heart-warming work! ~Veasse

Deana · 25 October 2003 · Chapter 21: Ch 21

Excellent story! Who did that arrow hit? (Humm, who hasn't been injured yet...I think that Elrond is the only one left!) Please post more soon! :)

daw the minstrel · 26 August 2003 · Chapter 21: Ch 21

Good lord. A cliff hanger. Who is hit? All of these elves seem to be pranksters and I think that is consistent with Elvishness.

xsilicax · 26 August 2003 · Chapter 21: Ch 21

Now why do I have an image of someone shooting badly, and Legolas' arrow actually ending up in Aragorn? Oh please update soon and let me know that that is only a product of my twisted mind! Cathy. xx
