does he have to survivie, if he seuvives he might B-R-E-E-D, and you know mold is tough to kill if it gets a toehold.

LOL! Cedric is rather deplorable. Hopefully, this will teach him what he needs to know about respecting lasses. If not, well, he won't be able to breed if he never manages to get the ban lifted. :D

Read it all in one go. I love your Pervinca and Ev romance/war. It's so real and your Pervinca is such a strong character. I like that very much. I really felt sorry for Pip when Pervinca confronted him about the note. LOL He was innocent this time and he still had to hear about it. For me the topper to the whole thing was this line!((“It worked. The egg fried almost instantly, but then it caught fire and exploded. A piece of the yolk burned itself into his eye and to this day, the healers can’t get it out,” Ferdibrand elaborated with much gusto.)) and the fact that Eglantine made that up was priceless! I wonder how many of these she's told and how many Pippin still believes? LOL

Author's reply

There's certainly no holding Pervinca back. She'll say what she likes, when she likes. Even I can't seem to detract her sauciness. ;) Pippin always seemed to get blamed for everything, doesn't he? But he wasn't entirely innocent, even if he meant no harm in telling Ferdi about his sister's plans for the day. LOL! I'm sure Eglantine has made up all sorts of crazy and elaborate tall tales over the years to keep Pippin out of (some) trouble. And Pippin's just gullible enough to believe it! After all, his mother wouldn't lie to him, right? ;) Thanks for reading! I'm glad you enjoyed the story!

What an awful lad Cedric is! I really liked your take on this story. Pervinca being a "shrew" and the lads all being afraid of her. Poor, Percina! Really she isn't all the different from other lasses, she just wasn't quite as taken with the lads yet! I loved how things turned out for everyone involved. Cedric got what he deserved and it seems Pervinca and Everard might be on an altogehter different track :) Thank you for the lovely story! It was quite nice and greatly appreciated :)

Author's reply

Every society has to have a lad who just doesn't get it. Thankfully, the hobbit lasses only have to put up with one. Cedric will at least think twice before harrassing the lasses of Great Smials again. Pervinca might not be a 'proper' lass, but she's still a lass. Deny it though she might, she does want all those things that other lasses wants. If she can manage to find a lad who isn't quite as onery at the others, there might be hope for her. And for Everard, who really isn't as bad as Pervinca thinks he is. ;) Thanks for reading!

This was a neat story. I liked how you showed that even Pervinca has insecurities, and that her tough exterior is only there to protect the scared little hobbit lass inside. I'm also glad to see that Cedric got his comeuppance. He deserved it, the rascal! Well done.

Author's reply

Pervinca has been a terror from a very early age, but it's only been recently that her antics have taken a darker tone. She was hurt and she's not one to stick her hand in the fire a second time. Still, she does need to learn that there are lads who can be trusted. Cedric won't be living this one down any time soon! His reputation has been marred and he knows it. :D Thanks for reading! I'm glad you enjoyed the story.

*grin* What a lovely little treat to come home from Scotland to! You know, I do love your feisty Pervinca, but I particularly love your devious Everard! He's a sharp one, he is, and is going to be quite worthy of Pervinca when the two of them finally realize that the feelings that lie underneath their fireworks are mutual. Cedric's comeuppance was well-deserved. I do think, though, that at some point in time you could reveal the outcome--perhaps a throwaway line in one of your other stories or something. Does he *ever* learn his lesson about respecting lasses, or will he end his life a lonely bachelor? Great story!

Author's reply

*grins* Pervinca and Everard are so much fun to write, and Cedric is a hoot as well, for all that he's a prick. Everard had this one figured out pretty much from the get-go and he didn't waste any time in stringing his friend along. There will be payback of some sort for this, without a doubt! Cedric well be burning over this one for awhile, but knowing him, he will figure out a loophole before too long. Mora though won't let him forget his debt to the lasses of the Smials, who have to put up with him on a daily basis. She'll keep him on track! I'm glad you enjoyed the story! And welcome back from Scotland! (hugs)

Haha! That serves him right! It will take Cedric are very long time to break the "courtship ban", I wager. But what's more important, this day promises to be the beginning of a friendship that will turn into love eventually, for Ev and Per! Thank you very much GamgeeFest, for this wonderful story :) You made my day!

Author's reply

Cedric will be quick to start helping the lasses in his efforts to fill up that vase, but he won't get anywhere until he remembers the "selfless" part of the deal. Or, until he finds a loophole! At least he'll be more honest about his courtships from here on out, if nothing else. It will take a long time before Everard figures out what Ferdi already knows: that he is besotted with Pervinca. It will naturally take even longer for Pervinca to realize that she reciprocates. Once they do though, you can bet their love will be just as fierce as their 'wars'. :D Thank you Andrea for reading!

A most satisfying ending, GamgeeFest. Oh, how satisfying! The OTHER lasses managed to put Cedric in his much-needed place, Everard is starting the much-needed truce with Pervinca that will lead them to the marriage they deserve, and the other lads have learned the truth about Cedric's real exploits, which are nowhere as impressive as his boasts! Oh, how very wonderful! Beautifully done!

Author's reply

Thank you Larner! I was a bit worried about this ending, so I'm glad you enjoyed it! Everard had this all planned out from the beginning and his reputation for getting the job done comes through. The lasses (and lads) will be talking about this one for a year and a day! It will be a long time yet before Everard realizes he is besotted with Pervinca, and even longer for her to realize she returns those feelings. Those two crazy kids were meant for each other. :) Cedric might have been a *tad* bit more successful than Mora and the lasses have let on, but he was in no position to contradict them! Now no one will believe his boasts, and the ban should be quite humbling for him - until he finds a loophole anyway. He will have much to get back at Everard for. ;)

This is superb GamgeeFest!! Absolutely superb! I'm sorry to see it end . . . or does it? Have you written further about Ev and Per? If you have, let me know as I've missed it, if not, you should :-)

Author's reply

Thank you so much, Pearl! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :D I don't have much else on Pervinca and Everard yet, but this is a prequel of sorts to "The Trouble With Love", which picks up a few years later. I think you will enjoy that one also. ;)

Andrea · 25 September 2007 · Chapter 2: Part II

“You know, I think Cedric would look good with a broken nose,” he said. “He’s the one more likely to be put in his place if you ask me, and I for one will applaud Pervinca if she can manage it. Maybe then he’ll stop plowing through all the lasses in Tookland and leave a few for the rest of us.” LOL!!! "Plowing through the lasses" - that's exactly what Cedric is doing all the time! He doesn't know yet that he will have a large number of lads against him and, what is even worse, for Pervinca. I'm really curious what will happen next! In my opinion some of the lads (NOT Cedric though) have an astonishing knowledge of a lass' mind (looks weird, is the spelling right?). They are more grown than Vinca might imagine.

Author's reply

Cedric certainly does enjoy sowing the field. ;) He's rather clueless, the silly hobbit, about just what he's creating here, but he'll find out soon enough! Everard certainly understands lasses more than the average lad. Growing up with three older sisters, he's spent more time with lasses than his friends have - including Cedric! Even Pippin knows more about lasses than Cedric does! The others just have good hobbit sense. Even if they don't understand the way a lass's mind works, they know this is a bad idea all around, made worse because they're targeting Pervinca.

harrowcat · 23 September 2007 · Chapter 2: Part II

“Yes, even them,” Eglantine said. “You value honesty so much, then you listen to this. If anyone is impolite to you, it is only because you are so combative. Lads play at pranks, it’s what they do, and most lasses know to ignore them. You’re the one who has created this waking nightmare, if anyone has. The lads do something and you have to push back, and push them you do. If you aren’t careful, you’re going to end up old and alone, without ever knowing love. Is that what you want?” Ouch - the truth can hurt a lot! But what the lads have planned sounds even worse than Eglantine's honesty.

Author's reply

Pervinca wasn't expecting such frankness from her mother and it cut her deeper than she'll ever admit. Certainly it effected her more than Eglantine could have guessed. Cedric isn't planning on pulling any punches. This plan truly couldn't have come at a worse time.

Larner · 23 September 2007 · Chapter 2: Part II

Alas for Pervinca--her one admitted crush having turned so sour. And am with the lads who expect to see Cedric very much bested by Pervinca! Go, gal!

Author's reply

Pervinca got burned, that's for sure. She went out on a limb and it backfired on her. It's no wonder she's so cautious now, especially with all the pranks she's had to endure. Cedric does need to be taken down a peg or two himself! He talks about Pervicna, but he fails to realize that he's just as bad. It will be a rude awakening for him to realize that the lads are against him and not Pervinca. ;)

Larner · 23 September 2007 · Chapter 1: Part I

Cedric is a bit thick with the heat, I think! He truly thinks merely "talking" to Pervinca's going to get through to her? And love the discussion of the dress and poor Fendon's wants and dislikes! Heh!

Author's reply

Thick with the heat, in more ways than one! ;) He's certainly not thinking clearly at all, or he would realize that no amount of "talking" will get through to Pervinca's soft side. Pervinca truly does know how to be persistant. By the time the wedding arrives, they're all going to be cringing every time Pervinca says "cream". :D It's just a good thing Fendon isn't around for all this planning, or he'd be walking away with a headache of his own!

Andrea · 20 September 2007 · Chapter 1: Part I

“You’re the one who insisted on teaching her to talk,” Pimpernel teased gently when Eglantine rubbed the bridge of her nose LOL!!! After having read the second part of this chapter I can understand very well, why the lads are that determined to set their plans in motion as soon as possible! I'm looking forward to reading more!

Author's reply

Pervinca is quite a spitfire! She'll say the darnedest things! The lads have had to put up with a lot from her over the years, but she's had her share of harrassment from them also. Both camps are justified. ;) The lads will be going to work on their plan soon, but even the best laid plans go astray and they really didn't stop to think this one through. :D

harrowcat · 20 September 2007 · Chapter 1: Part I

Enjoying this GF....more soon? pleeeeeeeese!

Author's reply

I would have updated yesterday, but the internet was playing with me. I'll have the next chapter up soon. Thanks for reading! I'm glad you're enjoying the story!

Lindelea · 20 September 2007 · Chapter 1: Part I

Aargh! I am interrupted only half-way through the chapter by a dog that *must* go out, and then glancing at the clock I see I have only six hours of sleep to look forward to, if I go to bed immediately after... But scrolling quickly to the bottom to leave this word of encouragement, I see the equally encouraging "To be continued" and so I am satisfied to read more later, at a more opportune time. You have such a way with words! Your descriptions put me into the scene, that I can see everyone and their surroundings in a most satisfactory manner, and your turns of phrase are wonderful. Case in point: cautionary tale of curious lads and poultry products But no time for more. Looking forward to the rest of this chapter and whatever is to follow.

Author's reply

Thank you Lindelea! I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far, interruptions not withstanding.
