You took what was a odviously a painful experience for you, and your mother and put it into a story which can serve to help others. I am very proud of you. This story will show others who are now going through difficult situations they are not alone, and someone understands. Very well done. Great job!

Ah, a most proper resolution to a most difficult problem--accepting the loss of that which has given us the most fulfillment through the loss of a beloved family member. And Estel himself is able to rejoice because his mother holds on and is able at last to embrace hope--and Hope--once more.

Author's reply

Thanks, Larner. I'm glad you think the resolution is proper. There's no way I could write *too* happy of an ending because Gilraen still has so much to work through. But at the same time, I wanted to leave the House of Elrond basking in a glimmer of hope. Allee

Linda Hoyland · 24 August 2007 · Chapter 5: One Breath at a Time

What a lovely ending. I hope they can all begin to heal now.

Author's reply

Thanks, Linda. It's going to be a slow process, but healing is coming to this family. Fortunately, they've finally realized that they all have each other. Allee

Linda Hoyland · 22 August 2007 · Chapter 4: Happy Tears

I like the way that Gilraen and Elladan help each other. I hope things are looking brighter.

Author's reply

It's interesting that people going through similar emotions can help each other in a way that no one else can. Gilraen and Elladan have certainly been at odds, but as it turns out, they're really good for one another. At least they're both laughing a bit now . . . and talking! It's an improvement, no? Thanks for the comments, Linda. Allee

Linda Hoyland · 22 August 2007 · Chapter 3: The Mother of Hope

You portray the different personalities of the brothers well here. They remind me a little of the brothers in "Supernatural"!Thank Goodness they found Gilraen.

Author's reply

Thanks, Linda. Yes, I wanted to give Elladan and Elrohir distinctly different personalities. Much more interesting that way! ;-) Allee

Larner · 22 August 2007 · Chapter 4: Happy Tears

That kind of humor can be so very healing.

Author's reply

Gilraen sure needed to laugh for a change. Actually, so did Elladan. It did them both good. Thanks, Larner. Allee

Larner · 20 August 2007 · Chapter 3: The Mother of Hope

At least they got to her in time. Healing will come, but it is difficult in such cases.

Author's reply

Gilraen is so often left out of young Estel stories altogether that you'd think she really did die when her son was a child (and, of course, there are myriad AUs in which she does die when Aragorn is still a boy). But, yes, healing is on its way for Gilraen. It will be a slow and painful process, but it's coming. Thanks again, Larner. Allee

Larner · 20 August 2007 · Chapter 2: End It

Oh, dear. It does seem a permanent solution--too permanent and not really a solution at all, of course. But it is a seductive one.

Author's reply

Yes, a seductive solution, but as you say, not really a solution at all. Poor Gilraen is desperate, I fear. Thank you for your comments, Larner! Allee

Linda Hoyland · 18 August 2007 · Chapter 2: End It

Poor Gilraen, this is heartrending, but all too true to life.Very well written.

Author's reply

Thanks, Linda. I'm glad you find it true to life. I was concerned that because it varies from the typical fan fic portrayal of Gilraen that people would find it inauthentic. I pleased that you think otherwise. Allee

Linda Hoyland · 18 August 2007 · Chapter 1: The Boy Called Hope

This is very moving, poor Aragorn and poor Gilraen. Grief does indeed make people add oddly. It is brave to draw on your own experiences, but in so doing, makes your work richer and maybe you will help others.

Author's reply

Thanks, Linda! I'm flattered that you think I was brave. I'll just say this: this story wasn't an easy one to write. In fact, I started it, got nowhere with it, and set it aside for *months*. When I finally came back to it, I discovered that there where certain parts that I was avoiding because they were just too emotionally difficult for me to write. Well, I finally got through it (obviously), and now that it's done, I have to admit that it's been somewhat therapeutic. Writing is wonderful that way, isn't it?

Larner · 17 August 2007 · Chapter 1: The Boy Called Hope

I believe this is my first experience with resentful Celebrian. Alas for her.

Author's reply

Resentful Celebrian? Or did you mean a resentful Gilraen? Gilraen is indeed a mess right now. And I'm afraid things are only going to get uglier. Allee
