I am sorry- I did review this but am having trouble posting recently and I see mine has not registered. Hopefully this is now fixed. I loved this story. It captures some of the open-mouthed wonder that an elf from a world where the shadow is very present must feel when in Imladris. And Legolas' own prejudices do confont him beautifully here although I usually root fro Mirkwood in any head to head with Imladris. I really do appreciate your sense of humour with Elrond's first words- I felt he was equally aware of the irony in referring to our dwarven friends! But its a good finish with Legolas perhaps opening his mind up and the first steps towards the Fellowship. Great stuff- really enjoyed it. Thanks.

Thank you so much, Ziggy! I just can't imagine what it must've been like for Legolas to first encounter Imladris. He must've felt like he was in another world. I always picture Elrond as having a wry sense of humor, so yes, I'm certain that his use of the phrase "dwarven friends" was quite intentional. Even though Legolas still doesn't want anything to do with Gimli at this point, I like to think the seeds for their friendship were sown during this period. Again, thank you so much for your kind words. Allee

Impressive! I can see why this piece would be singled out for recognition...well done! BC

Thank you so much! Those are kind words, and I am most happy to receive them. This story was fun to write; I particularly enjoyed writing the letters because it was so much like writing dialogue. I'm pleased you enjoyed it. Allee

Definitely a time of learning tolerance and appreciation for others. And a time indeed to increase his fluency in Quenya as well. A few problems with homonyms--the people ought to have *fared* well; but considering I, too, catch myself using the wrong one, who am I to speak too much on the subject. (I keep writing "peak" when I mean "peek" and am embarrassed every time I catch myself at it.) Glad to see Elrond's influence works so well over the younger Silvan Elf.

Thanks, Larner. I imagine Elrond's influence would work well over just about anyone! Thank you, thank you, thank you for pointing out the fair/fare confusion. I promise: I do know the difference, but there it was, nevertheless! Even my beta reader didn't catch it. It has been taken care of. Allee
