Can't wait to see what the kids think of next - or will they rescue Theodred from some peril? Looking forward to the next chapter.

Author's reply

Thanks for reviewing, Raksha! Hmmm, well not sure the kids are going to be doing any sort of rescuing in this story, but there will be some peril in the next chapter. :)

Raksha The Demon · 25 June 2007 · Chapter 2: The Stables

Perhaps his father was right; perhaps this wasn’t going to be as easy as he’d thought. - Gee, Theodred's finally catching on...maybe! No, these kids are not going to be as easy to control as Riders or even horses. I like the interaction between Renward and the kids - I would think that in the stables, the stable-master is King; and it's nice that he's trying to be kind and helpful to the kids. Eowyn doesn't obey the rules? Why am I not surprised?! I like the way she's written here; an intriguing combination of shyness, sorrow, insecurity and strength of will.

Author's reply

Thanks again for reviewing! I sometimes think that people that haven't been around children very much think that children are easy to control, and kids can really take advantage of those kind of people. :) I'm glad you like Eowyn. I keep reminding myself that she's only seven and she needs to have all of those things you mentioned, all of those up and down moments.

Raksha The Demon · 25 June 2007 · Chapter 1: Preparations

"We’re not going far and I am sure they’ll listen to me.” - Why do I think that these are famous last words?! Good luck, Theodred!

Author's reply

Thanks for reviewing, Raksha! Well, they didn't listen to him but at least no one got hurt and things haven't worked out too badly... so far. :)

Linda Hoyland · 19 June 2007 · Chapter 2: The Stables

I love your vivid desciption of the children in this chapter.THey are all so realistic.

Author's reply

Thanks so much, Linda. I guess having 16 nieces and nephews and being a teacher is starting to pay off! :)

Linda Hoyland · 19 June 2007 · Chapter 1: Preparations

I think it is a good idea to make these stories a series. It is so poingnat that we know Theodred will never have children of his own.

Author's reply

Thanks for reviewing, Linda! It is sad to know that Theodred won't have children, but at least he did have a chance to at least interact with young children for a short time in his life.

Agape4Gondor · 16 June 2007 · Chapter 2: The Stables

Great first two chapters, Radbooks. I'm wondering though - the second chapter says 'Chapter 6' on it???? Did I miss something. Hope vacation is good and that you get more ideas for this delightful tale. I happen to be a Theodred fan and am enjoying this!

Author's reply

Thanks for reviewing, I'm glad that you enjoyed it! The 'Chapter 6' was an error on my part and it has been corrected. I originally was going to keep this as part of the first story and it would have been the 6th chapter. Thanks for pointing that out. I had a wonderful vacation but it's nice to be home again. I'll be posting the next chapter on Monday or Tuesday. There should be 5 chapters in all and 4 of them are finished now. Lots and lots of Theodred coming up for you. :) I never planned on writing a story featuring Theodred, but he's really growing on me.

Engaging picture of Eowyn and Renward together, Radbooks. You do a terrific job of bringing out their personalities, and Eomer's and those of the other two boys too.

Author's reply

Thanks for reviewing, Daw, and for your kind words.

harrowcat · 16 June 2007 · Chapter 2: The Stables

You do excel in description Radbooks. I think that the children are doing very well considering. And yes, I, at least, love details like the meaning of names.

Author's reply

Thanks for your kind words, harrowcat. I'm glad that Eomer and Eowyn have each other, that will help them get through for now. Sometimes it takes a while for everything to sort of all sink in and become 'real' to people.

Misty · 13 June 2007 · Chapter 1: Preparations

This is a great start to the story. I can't wait to see what happens on his day out with the children. Now why do I think it won't quite be as easy as he thinks? ;) I did like his memories of sneaking out when he was younger, too.

Author's reply

Thanks, Misty! You might be right about that day out with the children. *grin* I'm glad you liked the memories that Theodred had there... many of us have those sorts of things. :)

daw the minstrel · 13 June 2007 · Chapter 1: Preparations

Nice start, Radbooks. I really like what you're doing with Theodred. He's scarcely present in canon and not much in fanfic, so there's wonderful possibilities there.

Author's reply

Thanks, Daw. I'm enjoying getting to 'know' Theodred myself. :) I never thought to write about him and the Rohirrim at all, I've always been drawn to Aragorn and the Rangers. But I find that it's the children that I really enjoy writing and now Theodred is starting to take over, which is okay with me!

harrowcat · 12 June 2007 · Chapter 1: Preparations

Looking after children makes you realise many things about yourself and your own childhood as Theodred is finding out! Glad he is beginning to appreciate how the other occupants of his home help to raise him.

Author's reply

Thanks for reviewing! You're so right, there are so many things about your childhood you take for granted and I think that in Theodred's case he would have been surrounded by people that really cared for him... at least in 'my world' they did! :)

Larner · 12 June 2007 · Chapter 1: Preparations

Oh, a nice beginning here. And now Theodred is finding reason to take an interest. Excellent. Looking to seeing this play out.

Author's reply

Thanks for reviewing, Larner! Yes, Theodred is finding himself drawn to the children and this little trip will help their relationship along. :) Oh, thanks for the nomination for "Life in the King's House" and for the little nudge! Now that summer is here I do hope to work on it. This story is almost written and then I'll turn to that one.

Lady Bluejay · 12 June 2007 · Chapter 1: Preparations

Glad to see this story - not enough written about Eomer and Theodred.LBJ
