· Chapter 6: Vinegar and Onions Were Brought
Yes, this is a wonderfully good show! Frodo and Gandalf were so wise to slip off to the West for some peace and quiet. And I do love passages like, The fire billowed smoke that Smaug would have been proud to own. *grins*

*grin* Pippin really has a hang to find trouble, hasn´t he? Glad he has a Merry ( and now also Diamond) to avoid the worst!!!!
Very nice Chapter! :) And I really wanna know now, what Sam and Frodo-lad are doing!
And don´t worry, I offer lifts to no one... and no one would borrow me a car anyway...or is brave enough to get inside there...not even I.
Imagine an automatic car, a parking space and a tree. Car is rolling inside the space, but it is not easy to step on the right pedal you know. ;) Well so when you step down the gas instead of the break, the car is able to do a big jump into the tree with a loud BANG and you can scare the hell out of innocent passengers, that just walk behind the tree and the friend that sits next to you. Quite funny! ;)
Another nice way is to loose the way of the street and drive into a cornfield, because the stars shining like diamonds and are much more interessting than the road. Thats to undertsand isnt it? Well but not everyone was amused.
etc.

· Chapter 5: The Shortest Thainship Ever?
ROTFL!!!
Well, sometimes the clutch is very important!
"Best get on lad. I should know better than to worry about your Uncle Pippin – he always seems to bounce!"
Sam is right, as always. But that "infernal" machine could have hurt the Thain badly! So, let's see how long it takes Pippin to hurt the machine ;-)

Marvelous!!!! Hilarious as always :-) :-)
"And Merry, I don't think I'll stop it. I think it will just run over me."
Duh! Ya think so, Pippin? LOL LOL
"I should know better than to worry about your Uncle Pippin – he always seems to bounce!"
A very good quality to possess :-)
I'm loving this, Llinos!!

· Chapter 5: The Shortest Thainship Ever?
I am so glad to have found this story as it really gave me a good laugh. Love Sam's thoughtful and clever demeanor contrasted with the impetuous enthusiasm of Merry and Pippin. My favorite line so far, I think, among many: "...they had both grown rather too accustomed to late nights and rising, as Pippin put it, 'at the crack of lunch!..." Thank you!

I still maintain that this is one of the funniest things that I have ever read! I'd quote my favourite bits at you here but that would mean quoting the entire chapter!
I especially liked Pippin's Olympic calibre flip over the engine, Merry's saving his cousin from being chopped into mulch, Faramir's pride in his father's athletic ability, all of the dialogue...all right, I especially liked every bit of it!
I am really looking forward to the rest of the story!

(he always seems to bounce!") LOL He does, doesn't he? Bravo! Poor Merry running after the machine and trying to save Pippin from himself. This was entirely too funny.
(Later reports claimed that the Thain had merely been showing off by executing a double backwards somersault from 10 feet up over the top of the mighty engine.) How very like the Hobbits to turn Pippin's accident into something impressive. I do love they way they tell a story and I love the way that you are telling this one!

I like this story, it's quiet funny but I have one question (not to sound rude) but isn't this story aginst the rules? I have read loads of stuff on this website and loads of it is stuff that I might write, but none of my stuff never gets submitted (alright I get it I suck at puncuitaion, but Im working on it)

You definitely have me giggling full-time, Llinos. Poor Pippin--but Sam's right--the Thain does appear to bounce well!
The race, I fear, is becoming ever more a rout. I wonder when they'll manage to destroy the poor engine?
Thanks for today's laugh!

ROTFLMBO!! This scene had me rolling -- no, this entire chatper, lol. I'm sure my neighbours are wondering why someone is laughing so much at 8:30 in the morning.
Yes, my dear, Pippin, the clutch is *very* important! :-) I am so enjoying this wonderful tale!

· Chapter 4: I Knew I Shouldn't Have Let Him Drive!
Great story!
I've often wondered where the English word "contraption" came from, but when I imagine that *thing*, I'd say that word suits it best ;-)
And I remember many times when I tried to follow the rule "First read the manuel", but ended up with the trial-and-error method! LOL!!!
It seems Sam and Frodo-lad are following some plan? I'm looking forward to reading more!
Author's reply
"Contraption" is apparently a portmanteaux word made from "contrive" and "trap" - an unnecessarily complex device that will probably go wrong. Seems to fit.
Oh nobody reads past page 2 of the manual - do they?
A cunning plan? Sam? Surely not!

"Bury it in the sandpit, along with the other villains!" LOL!!
This machine only confirms my opinion that the Industrial Revolution was a Very Bad Idea. But it's certainly entertaining the hobbits!
Hmm, wonder what Sam and Frodo are up to?
Author's reply
Sam and Frodo-lad are just minding their own and keeping busy - you know - business as usual.
Never thought of the Industrial Revolution as a form of entertainment before.

A race? Seems that those that race machines against men--or Hobbits, in this case--don't always come off too well in the endeavor.
Pippin getting in and doing, Merry and his technical jargon and schematics, and wise Sam and his retreat to a speech in preference to getting caught up with this--thingamabob! So wonderful!
