well auctually it's quite funny. there have been alot of other things lately that have made me want to be a fiddler. I have a fiddle. I just dont know how to play it. but I loved that last part when they were talking about Pippin first learning how to play fiddle. thats what inspires me about him.
he sounds so GLOMPABLE

I, too, had a hunch that Pippin must have had odd feelings toward Elrond after the Quest, as he was so set against Pippin joining the Company. Nothing hateful, just odd. I think you brought out those feelings wonderfully and resolved the situation eloquently. :-) I'm glad Elrond has now become a close confidante to the lad.
All of this chapter was excellent; Pippin and music always mixes exceptionally well! But my favourite scene was of Pippin racing Merry to the edge of the moor and then watching them view the Last Homely House at last was heart-stirring for me. I would have kissed the ground, lol.
Excellent as always!
Author's reply
Thank you dear Pippinfan! Again, I hope Golden checks these out - that ending scene was her idea, though she did say she really liked how I wrote it up. Yes, I always felt there would be some awkwardness between Pippin and Elrond for that reason, but also that Pippin would find a way to get past it.
Thank you so much, m'dear! :-)

Ok, that clears up the confusion. I couldn't figure it out for the longest time and I keep trying to figure it out. I always forget about it until I read another chapter in this lovely story. The last chapter in this story makes me want to take up Fiddle... well really alot of things make me want to take up Fiddle. but Pippin's will to get better and overcome his illness make me seriously want to take up Fiddle and auctually learn it
Author's reply
Glad to help, pippinsgirl :-)
Why is it making you want to learn fiddle as he is playing harp at this point? He will eventually be trying fiddle though :-) I'm a fiddler - you really should try it, it is a lot of fun!
Thanks again for reading and responding!

I'm right proud of our dear Pippin! He overcame his shyness and talked to Lord Elrond, which proved to be the best he could do.
Elrond will teach him how to interpret his visions and how he can use them to help his people.
Those visions are a gift indeed. He will be a great Thain when the time comes :)
Last but not least, I liked the picture of Sunshine curled up at Pippin's feet with a smile on her face.
Author's reply
Thank you so much Andrea :-)
The wee bit with Sunshine was Golden's, so I hope she reads this! So glad you enjoyed the chapter. Pippin is a stalwart lad, he's going to be fine in the long run :)

YAY A NEW CHAPTER!! I feel so bad for Pippin because he's got to deal with this sickness, and I mean what are the other hobbits gonna do around him? there not really gonna know what to do. I have to keep reverting to what was going on in ROTK cause I'm reading FOTR right now for my LOTR book club, so I am like having to think on my fingers and back track and such... cause I read ROTK eariler this year. I really want to just go right into the story and glomp the living day lights out of Pip. Merry too for that matter. which fingers are the ones that Pip can't use? is it his Index finger and Middle finger or his ring finger and pinky finger? I am always trying to figure that out. I know it's on the right had, but I'm always like "Well if it's these two fingers then this shouldn't be too difficult....."
I never realized until now that all the fingers have names.....
Author's reply
Hi Pippinsgirl :-)
we're glad you are so happy to have a new chapter. It *will* be interesting to see how other hobbits respond to Pippin.
Pippin's pinky and ring fingers do not work at all and his middle finger is weak. His thumb and index finger are fine.

A very nice chapter. There is a sense of peacefulness about it, in spite of the subject matter. I'm glad Pippin is giving Elrond the chance to show his "kind as summer" side--I'm certain he'd been so intimidated by him, and perhaps there was a bit of holdover from Elrond's early opposition to his taking part in the Quest--but now he can see that there's more to the Elf Lord than that.

Thank you so much Dreamflower :-) I like having Elrond and Pippin find a peace between them and am glad you enjoyed it as well.

What a fascinating and insightful chapter. Pippin's talks with Elladan and Elrond are wonderful, and I'm so glad they've reached Rivendell at last.
Shyly, yet eagerly he asked, “Do you really think I play well, Lord Elrond?”
“It is one amongst many things which you do well, Peregrin Took."
Awwwww.

Thank you m'dear mentor! Golden and I are glad they have made it to Rivendell as well.

Oh, this was a marvelous chapter. The aftermath of Pippin's fit/vision and the hobbits' conversation was so true to the characters.
The harp lessons were so beautiful. And Eledan's understanding of Pippin's feelings was just right.
I have to say that I actually think I like the idea of Elrond becoming a mentor to Pippin.
The only sad thing is knowing that Pip will so soon lose both his dear mentors, Gandalf and Elrond. (sigh)
Great job. Looking forward to what comes next.
Author's reply
Thank you so very much Garnet! Yes, both mentors will eventually be gone but he will hopefully be ready to handle things himself by then. So glad you enjoyed the harp lessons.

Well, again you already know how much I *love* this chapter, but let me tell you again - I LOVE this chapter!! You weaved in the Took Sight and the Faerie blood along with the Ent draughts so well. I really liked the visions Pip had, and the foreshadowing that all is not well in the Shire. I also think it is highly appropriate for Gandalf and Elrond to limit what the others are told by leaving the decision up to Pippin. The Sight is such a personal thing, and also, Pippin needs to have the liberty of making decisions for himself. Like Dreamflower mentioned, I do hope we see what is going through Pip's mind when he learns the whole story!
Lovely chapter, as always, girls!
Author's reply
Thank you so much Cathleen :-) The whole matter of the Faerie just won't leave stories I'm working on alone. I'm glad folks seem to enjoy it though.
Pip does need to make decisions for himself if he's to continue to grow and be strong.
We'll do our best to have him be all introspective ;-)
We're both glad you loved it!

Wow -- Pippin's after-affects from the Ent Draught was an excellent pointer to the Took Sight. I can hardly wait to see how more enhanced his gift becomes as time passes on.
Well done again!

Thank you, m'dear Pippinfan!
Well, we shall see, but unless the muses have other ideas, I don't think it will have much more effect. It will show up again, I think, but not much and not often.
Glad you enjoyed and hopefully the next installment will be up sometime next week :-)

I agree--the reasoning used is very considered and logical; and they are undoubtedly wise to leave it to Pippin to explain to the others that at least part of what he's undergoing is due to his faerie heritage. We do love the abiding love of our faerie wife toward her Took descendants, after all!
Author's reply
Hi Larner :-)
Glad we're doing well and that you enjoy having the faerie blood brought into the mix.

Very interesting, indeed!
So, the falling sickness in combination with the Ent draught opened some "channels" in Pippin's brain to let him have visions?
It's likely that he won't remember anything, but on the other hand even Elrond does not know all the effects of the Ent draught. I'm looking forward to reading of the conversation between Pippin and Elrond.
Frodo decided to go to Rivendell despite Pippin's words. I understand him, of course. No-one can be sure if what Pippin saw will really happen. But I wonder if they could have changed the future, had they gone back home immediately.
Last, but not least: I very much liked your description of Sunshine's observations. Like a fit, but somehow different!
Thank you, Pearl and Golden!
(P.S.: Since today is my birthday, I consider this as a present :) Thanks, again!)

Them going back to the Shire early would be interesting, but alas, a different story from this one ;-)

This was a very interesting chapter. I'm really excited to see you weaving the Took Sight into this story.
It was clever of Gandalf and Elrond to blame it on the Ent draught to the other hobbits. I hope you plan to write the conversation between Pippin and elrond. I really want to hear what the elf has to say and how Pippin accepts it--or doesn't.:)
You know I get so excited when I see an update to this. (Does the happy dance)
Great job one again, Pearl and Golden.

That conversation will be in the story.
I'm glad you're excited about the Faerie Blood. A part of me wants to never write it again, but it keeps working it's way into stories I'm writing. It helps to know that there are readers who enjoy its appearances :-)

So this is how it worked out!
I like the idea that Pippin is now going to have some foresight--which may stand them all in good stead shortly! I hope you show Pippin's reactions when Elrond tells him it has to do with his Tookish heritage.
I also liked Elrond's consultation with Gandalf. It reminds me of Gandalf's assertion to Frodo that when it came to the hobbits' past, he knew more than the hobbits did.
Will Pippin share that knowledge with his Aunt Esmeralda, recalling her presence with him on the Quest, I wonder?
Author's reply
I'm so glad you liked it dreamflower! :-)
He will have some times of foresight, but we don't know how much yet. There is a scene coming, though not immediately, of Pip and Elrond's chat.
I'm glad you liked the talk between Elrond and Gandalf as well. We also don't know what or with whom Pippin will share this bit of information.

Very nice chapter, Pearl!
I needed something to cheer me up, and little Pippin playing the fiddle did the trick :)
I agree with the others that music, particularly creating music can help Pippin greatly. And I loved Elladan's song!
Last but not least, I loved it that Tulip appeared in this chapter. And I had to smile again when I read that Bilbo, like Frodo in Cathleen's stories, noticed the change in Tulip's facial features, but dismissed it as nonsense! There's more about that piglet than meets the eye!
Thank you very much, Pearl, Golden and Cathleen :)

Yes, this chapter *did* turn out delightfully, and I think the lightheartedness was a perfect little and much needed break for the characters. I'm pleased to know that I was able to help, and as I told you, it was a lovely and very flattering experience for me to have the opportunity to write with you! And Tulip was equally flattered, although she *does* tend to let these things go to her head....

And with music helping to soothe the savage breast, Pippin has a better time keeping calm and free of further seizures. Poor lad! And love that they actually told the proper ending.
And I can just see Pippin, Tulip tucked under his arm, forcing himself to applaud and then retreating. Wonder where Errol was this visit? Heh! I love BOTH of these watchful playmates, you must realize. And love that her eyes also widened with horror at having to listen to him play the more!
Author's reply
Making music will be good for Pippin, I've no doubts.
Tulip sneaked in because Cathleen was helping with the brain storming and Golden thought a flashback to little Pippin learning to play something would work well here. Had it been GW in on the brainstorming, then it would have been Errol :-)

Oh Pearl! How nice to see an update tonight! And a musical Pippin--even better! I really like the way you have Elladan teaching him to play the harp--it will be great that he has an instrument that will allow him to compensate for the weakness in his hand.
And the account of the early lessons was very funny also--I really liked the way Pippin made them finish the story, and the cousin's pride in one another at the end--very beautiful and "un-angsty"--a nice change of pace for this story!
Author's reply
Thank you so much Dreamflower :-) I had always felt that Pippin was musically inclined, even just from reading the books, so I enjoy having him be so in my stories.

Ah this is a very cute chapter of the story! I know how hard it is to listen to someone when they first learn how to play an instrument. or rather for the second time over. My friend (who's name is Pippin) has had to re-learn how to play an number of instruments, since he can no longer play them. the Piano isn't that bad.... because it mostly sounds good no matter how you play it... but with like String instruments (like Fiddle) can Agravate the living daylights out of you!! Ah but it's funny anway lol
