· Chapter 12: Not as Was Intended
Oh, very chilling indeed. Alas, poor Sam! (And I don't have to say the same for Frodo, though how ironic that the master of pity, in this scenario, deserves it far more.
Thank you!
Author's reply
And thank you, my friend! Hope your birthday has been a joyous one. I hope someone finds a way to remove that Ring from Frodo's finger without being taken by it themselves!

Oh my, that is indeed scary!
Frodo IS the Lord of the Ring and Sam has to obey him whether or not he likes it. I don't know how this new situation will affect first the Shire and then the rest of Middle Earth, but there will be an effect!
Author's reply
Oh, yes, so true. You are so right that there will be an effect, starting with white roses becoming red as blood! Heh!

O dear! I'm not entirely sure what's happened here, save that Frodo clearly didn't give up the Ring.
Will you think me terribly dense for asking for an explanation?
Whatever's happened, I feel quite worried for all our dear Hobbits!
Kaylee Arafinwiel
Author's reply
How do you think that the Ring might have completed Frodo's corruption once It took him in the Sammath Naur? You have good reason to fear for all of our beloved Hobbits, particularly as Frodo is apparently the most intelligent one of the lot, one who knows and is related to fully half the Shire, if not more, by blood or marriage, not to mention his ties to Buckland. After all, it appears that he might now be the (at least temporary) Lord of the Ring. Heh!

Too scary, glad this might have been never was!
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

I agree--I, too, am glad this didn't happen.

I liked this. It reminds me of Alice in Wonderland.
Author's reply
In spite of its rather macabre undertones? Thanks, Linda!

That was a disturbing start to my morning. :)
So simple yet so chilling. Poor Sam, and poor Middle-Earth.
Thanks for the birthday present.
Author's reply
Sorry to give a strange start to your birthday. And I suspect that Sam will probably not call Frodo Master any more, except when he is being particularly ironic. Not the pleasantest of circumstances for him. And you are welcome. Hope it was a good one.

Ooh! Wow! So much in so few words.
Author's reply
Indeed! Thanks so, Harrowcat! Love to your dad and the dog. Mine tried to poison himself, getting into a box of chocolate-covered macadamia nuts, and in this case the nuts were more dangerous than the chocolate. Silly little dog!

· Chapter 11: Devilling Lobelia
Oh my! It is amazing how perfectly well this fits into the context, although Primula is totally changed.
I'm glad though, that in truth she and Drogo were not like that. Just imagine how a child of theirs would have been like!
Author's reply
Well, we were supposed to write in such a way we go against preconceptions, either or own or those generally held within the fandom. I, too, prefer to think Drogo and Primula were quite different from this, and I agree about the chances their child would have been quite different!

· Chapter 11: Devilling Lobelia
That might be one reason why Lobelia was so mean, but it's hard to think that Primula might have provoked her.
Author's reply
I agree, which is why this is in my AU collection! Heh! But when I was asked to write a story in which I wrote against my own beliefs on Tolkien's characters, then this is what came out. Thanks so, Tari.

Loved this!
Very believable. I love all the little details you include that make the scene come to life.
Author's reply
So glad that this pleases you, Lindelea! But if we were to put the movie version back into proper shape, this needed to be written, I believed. Thanks so!

· Chapter 11: Devilling Lobelia
Somehow I almost like the idea of poor Lobelia being unjustly accused. Almost...
Author's reply
Almost, eh? Heh! But if we were to turn fanon on its head, why not see Lobelia and Primula both in a different light, right?
Thanks so!

Hm, not too sure I like this version of Primula, she sounds almost as bad as Lobelia really was!

Author's reply
I agree, Lynda. But the challenge was to reexamine our own perceptions of the story and its characters, and so this idea presented itself. Thanks so!

My Goodness! What a turn up for the books!
Author's reply
Isn't it, though? Heh! But it was fun to write, even if I can't quite bring myself to add this to my own head-canon.

Oh, my. You leave me speechless. Yikes.
Author's reply
Well, we were to re-examine our own head-canon as well as general fanon, so this was the idea that presented itself. It was fun to write.

· Chapter 9: The Turning of the Year Approaches...
I was just looking for things to read, noticed this, and click in this chapter first. Oh. My. Gosh! This is the funniest thing I have ever read. Dear Frodo, bless his heart, even wishing for joy for the bitterest enemies of ME. And this is how Namo interprets that wish! That is absolutely the most hilarious poetic justice ever. I loved this!
Author's reply
I had a good deal of fun writing this one. Armariel's request for how the baddies might get together for the holidays got my evil imagination working! Heh! So glad you enjoyed it, and thanks so for the feedback.

Yayay!!! Another clever little piece that we're all thankful didn't really happen. But who knows...it could have. Yes, preciousss, it could have! Gollum! Gollum!

· Chapter 10: The New Master of the Hill
No-one can beat Sam Gamgee. *nodnod* Although it's interesting to see Gollam as a somewhat benevolent tyrant of Middle-earth. Funny that he wouldn't want world domination, but he'd try to live Frodo's life.
Okay, funny perhaps isn't the right word, but still...
Author's reply
I don't think that Gollum has world domination in his heart any more than is true of any other Hobbit. But to seek to take Master's place and remake the Shire in keeping with his tastes and imagination--It makes me shudder just thinking about it! Thanks so, Soledad!

This was truly chilling and gripping to read.Such a clever idea!

· Chapter 10: The New Master of the Hill
Okay, now that is seriously disturbing, Larner. I certainly hope Sam gets free and does Gollum in. And I don't even want to think about what happened to Aragorn or the Elves. *tries to resist a shudder*.
Author's reply
But what will the Ring do to Sam once he's killed Gollum? Bilbo began his ownership of the Ring with mercy, and so It did little evil to him during the sixty years he carried it. And you are right to worry about what became of the rest of the Fellowship and the Elves of Middle Earth--I doubt that this Lord of the Ring will allow any of them to live, or not free, at least.
It makes me shudder, too! Thanks so!

· Chapter 9: The Turning of the Year Approaches...
Interesting discussion between the former allies.
**just where is Lord Námo when he is needed to pronounce dooms? I thought that was his duty, after all….** Now that made me laugh, particularly considering who that came from! They should be careful what they wish for, though.
Aside of that, this has to be the strangest party I have ever heard or read of! The guest list alone was unexpected, to say the least, and the entertainment seemed so ... tame ... considering who was there. Frodo really meant well, but I'm not sure Morgoth and the others appreciated his intent. Námo, however, is another matter altogether – I get the feeling he enjoyed himself immensely!
Author's reply
Taking the wicked prompt Armariel gave me and doing my best to make a story of it turned out to be wickedly pleasant, or so I found. And I do think that Namo had a delightful time, although I don't think that the honored(?) guests enjoyed it anywhere as much as the Lord of Mandos did! Heh!
