LOL More brilliant humor! Thank you!

Two friends and I were on a road trip when we started coming up with these. I just wish I could recall more of that conversation!

Aw, so sweet and sad. The Ents and the Entwives do have a tale of sorrow and hope, and I like to imagine them finding one another again.
God bless,
Galadriel
Author's reply
It would be nice, wouldn't it? Tolkien said in a letter that the Entwives had likely all been killed in the Second Age...but then again, Sam's cousin did see that "walking tree". So there's always hope!
Thank you for your kind words!

· Chapter 10: Sundered
Lovely! The sentences are slow, and considered. They really do sound like Treebeard's thoughts. It very nicely expresses the ambiguous sense that Tolkein left us with concerning the Entwives. Treebeard did not know, and except for the hint that where they once lived was now called "The Brown Lands," no one else knew, either! Treebeard can be difficult to write. You have done him well.
Author's reply
I'm so relieved! I've never even attempted to write the Ents before, and I probably never would have if not requested. Your kind comments are *very* appreciated!

· Chapter 9: Brother in Arms
Ah--to be humbled and brought to reality by the faithfulness of this most unexpected of warriors! I am so glad Merry found his way, and at Dernhelm's side, for what is to come.
Eowyn is learning, and preparing herself in an odd way for what Fate is to offer her when the battle is won and the deeper battle is fought for her integrity is in question.
Author's reply
Eowyn is one of my favorite non-hobbit characters, and my overall favorite female character, because she is so "human". Tolkien places her "epiphany" (as I see it) a bit later, when she talks to Faramir, but I like to imagine it starting with Merry.

"And I wonder, which of us is the truer warrior?" Oooohhhh, this gave me goosebumps. Merry's courage was an inspiration to all who knew him, I am sure. Well done.
Author's reply
I like to think that all four hobbits touched people in that way. Thanks!

Beautiful! Of course the hobbits did not make a very good impression in Bree, but they soon showed their worth!
Author's reply
I've always felt that that was most likely Strider's reaction on first meeting the hobbits...and Frodo dancing on the tabletop probably didn't help!

A nice show of defiance!
That's the worst of endings and separations. Gimli is right, unfortunately - and even without Frodo's frailty, he would have been right. Eight very different lives have been briefly woven together, but, short of all staying in the White City, they would naturally resume interrupted paths.
Author's reply
That's exactly what I've always felt about that section.

And they needed joy, right then. I can certainly appreciate how Frodo refused to look at any of the others at that moment.
Author's reply
Obviously he had some inkling that he would be among the ones not able to be there when the others got together.

Aaawww! That is so Sam. Loving defiance, indeed! And the end is precious (no pun intended).

I've always figured that if Frodo went stubborn on him, Sam would find a way to take care of his master anyway, even if he had to resort to being sneaky about it!

It can be hard coming up with ads to use that will be recognizable to everybody; but it's fun nonetheless.
