Indeed I feel like faramir is an unsung hero In lotr and therefore I appreciate him so much more. Really like these ficlets/drabbles especially this one. Faramir should be proud of himself :)

I never did see Boromir as truly evil, and I don't think many people have. I'm glad I found a little something explaining why he tried to take the Ring from Frodo
Celeritas · 28 November 2008 · Chapter 18: The Shadow
Very nice. Frodo's self-identification with Gollum is something I usually set aside since the films Subtlety-Maced it into my head--so it was nice to be mildly reminded of this in a voice that sounds genuinely like Frodo's and does not descend into Gothic angst. (The choice of drabble for format helped, too.) I think, though, that Sam may understand a bit more than Frodo's willing to admit. He, too, after all, bore the Ring, and through that experience pitied Gollum enough to spare him when it mattered the most.
Author's reply
Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed this drabble and agree that Sam probably understands.
Larner · 28 November 2008 · Chapter 18: The Shadow
I seem to remember reading this before. It used to be said that the soul resides in the shadow, and so someone who lost his shadow had also lost his soul. I've often seen Frodo and Sam as opposite sides of the same coin; in ways this is also true of Frodo and Gollum, both of them starting as Hobbit Ringbearers, one's natural bent toward corruption allowing the Ring easy purchase on his soul, the other finally taken by the Ring. Perhaps Frodo should hope that this particular shadow DID find its way across the Sea, that together they might search for and find the lost innocence. And yet, in taking the finger wearing the Ring Gollum managed to free Frodo of Its domination--temporarily, at least. A powerful piece.

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed re-reading this. You did indeed see it before when you reviewed it at MEFA. I always like it that in your universe Smeagol is redeemed as as I guess he was.
Antane · 27 November 2008 · Chapter 18: The Shadow
An interesting little piece. Those two were indeed kindred spirits in a way. I would hope in some way Frodo did come to terms with his 'shadow' and so be able to completely heal. Happy Thanksgiving right back! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

I like the way you present Frodo's loneliness, his feeling of isolation. A beautifully written, and rather chilling, drabble - well done!

Virtuella · 27 November 2008 · Chapter 18: The Shadow
Excellent. I think this is an aspect that has been little explored. Yes, it is entirly credible that thoughts of Gollum would take up much of Frodo's mental energy. Well thought out and well worded.

Wow, I feel for Frodo, really, always have. It must have been hard for him after the ring was gone. Lots of emotion in just a few words, very powerful.

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you liked this and found it powerful. I rarely write Frodo I must admit.
Larner · 22 January 2008 · Chapter 17: The Rival
Interesting that Aragorn first sees Faramir as a rival, much as Denethor had seen him. So glad he overcame the urge to let him go. Much the better person for doing so.
Author's reply
Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I think that Aragorn's generous heart is what most makes him differ from Denethor.

Raksha The Demon · 20 January 2008 · Chapter 17: The Rival
A lesser man than Aragorn might have let his rival, already so close to death, slip away, thereby helping to assure that his claim to Gondor's crown would meet scant opposition. Luckily, Aragorn was no ordinary man; and could rise above such pettiness. Well-written look at a crucial moment in the history of Gondor.
Author's reply
Many thanks for your much appreciated review, my first for this drabble.I think this the moment Aragorn proves his quality, like Faramir does in resisting the Ring.
Raksha The Demon · 20 January 2008 · Chapter 16: The wink of an eye
Excellent and very amusing drabble - who knew that Sauron had a sense of humor! He does, I suppose, as long as he laughs last. Poor Denethor's not laughing at all. What's next in Sauron's bag of tricks - whoopie cushions on the Nazgul's saddles?

Aragorn would have to occasionally think of what Arwen gave up for his sake - good thing Faramir is there to help him balance that equation. Nice drabble!

It is so hard to not feal guilty some time in our lives. However, feeling guilty over someone else's decision seems to be rampant in human hearts. We have enough to feel guilty over without adding someone elses decisions to our own. Acquittal is a good title...a great title. Love, Neilia

Aragorn would probably miss the freedom he enjoyed as a wandering Ranger; but there are compensations, and hearth & home & Evenstar can make it all worthwhile.
Author's reply
I think Aragorn must at times feel conflicted but hopefully it is all worthwhile for him to exchange freedom for the crown and Arwen.(and knowing Faramir too,of course!)
Raksha The Demon · 11 October 2007 · Chapter 13: No Regrets
This is one of my favorite of your drabbles - we can feel Faramir's contentment and the beauty of the princedom he rules. Well done!
Author's reply
Thank you, I'm pleased you like it.It is funny how things sometimes turn out as I dashed this off in ten minutes on my way to bed as I wanted a true drabble for the Faramir fics contest!

And I see why it would have won had there been five times the number. Yes! This I can so see, Linda. You are another who does well with drabbles, unlike me!
Author's reply
Thank you so much.It took me years to try writing a drabble as I was sure I couldn't do it,then the drabble Muse bit me and I've written about 60.Beware,it might strike you one day !
