Kaylee · 10 August 2008 · Chapter 49: Plots and Counterplots

Ah, and so Oromë isn't the only one hunting...*scowls at Vorondil* *addressing Vorondil* You'd best be glad I have reasons to like you later, youngling. If first impressions were the only thing that mattered, you'd never get in my good books. *back to Fiondil* Anyway, meldonya, it's good to see that Valandur's not clueless and that Vorondil and the others are being watched! ~Kaylee!!

Author's reply

Some people are just stupid enough to think that they are being smart enough to outsmart those who are actually smarter than they. Vorondil and his ilk are like that. Valandur didn't become Ingwë's chief loremaster and spymaster by being stupid. Something that Vorondil will learn to his sorrow soon enough.

Kaylee · 10 August 2008 · Chapter 48: Echoes of the Past, Storms of the Present

"Ingwion, Ingwion, what are you doing?" Elessairon turned his head to see two other Valar standing nearby staring down at the supine prince. One was Tulkas, his golden hair shining even in the gloom, for the storm still raged above them, an echo of the storm occurring below the crystal ceiling. The other was Oromë. It was he who had spoken. The Vala gave a short bow to Manwë before going to the prince who still wept and lifting him up, gave him a slight shake, his expression not unkindly. "Have you forgotten everything I ever taught you about the Hunt, child?" he asked quietly. Ingwion did not respond, going still, the light in his eyes flaming with something bordering on glee, dark and manic. Elessairon struggled to understand what was going on, but could not. He leaned against Erunáro who had never released him and felt the Maia stroke his hair, sending soothing waves of comfort his way. "Is this what this is, my lord?" Ingwion finally asked, speaking in a harsh whisper that sent chills up Elessairon’s spine. "The Hunt?" Oromë nodded. "And is Glorfindel the Hunted?" Now Ingwion’s tone became dark again with anger. "Nay, child," Manwë said. "He’s the bait." Ingwion looked between the various Valar, their expressions ranging from neutral (Ulmo) to feral (Tulkas) and took a deep breath, stepping back from Oromë’s embrace. He walked over to the knife and picked it up, then, turning to Oromë and never taking his eyes off the Vala, he sliced the palm of his right hand and began calmly bloodying his hair. "When you sound the Valaróma, my lord," he said flatly as he ran his bloody palm through his golden locks, "I will join you in the Hunt... and Eru help anyone who gets in my way." *SHIVER* I can see why Ingoldo fears Ingwion!!!! What or who else has Ingwion Hunted with Oromë before, then? ~Kaylee!!!!!

Author's reply

We may find out someday about the first Hunt that Ingwion went on with Oromë. And you missed reviewing the previous chapter. *grin*

Kaylee · 10 August 2008 · Chapter 46: A Belated Begetting Day

Happy Begetting Day, Glorfi!!! And as usual he has to cause trouble in Lorien. *shakes head* Namo's pet Balrog-Slayer, is he? Heh! I love the elf-stone that Olorin gave Glorfi! And the ring of course! Glorfi really needed to take better care of that ring! ~Kaylee!!

Author's reply

I thought it would be fun to give a backstory to the stone which we first encounter in Fellowship when Aragorn finds it on the Bridge.

Kaylee · 10 August 2008 · Chapter 45: Slipping the Leash

Ai, our little Balrog-Slayer just gets more and more troublesome by the minute. *wry grin* I suppose he can't help it. He must be very amusing to Atar, lol. ~Kaylee!!

Author's reply

Which is probably why he was allowed to be born in the first place. LOL Atar definitely had a twinkle in his eye when he got Glorfi's parents together.

Kaylee · 10 August 2008 · Chapter 44: The Spiral Maze

I like the Maia honor guard and the descriptions of places in Valmar, also the descriptions of the Valar's various colors and emblems. I think that spiral maze is very pretty, but also very annoying. *folds arms and glares at it* Getting your guests to faint or throw up isn't very nice, Namo. ~Kaylee!!

Author's reply

I think the spiral maze is Námo's little joke. As he says, it cuts down on repeat visitors, although I suspect that there are other entrances less stressful but made available only to those whom the Lord of Mandos really wants to see. *grin*

Kaylee · 7 August 2008 · Chapter 43: Meeting With the Elder King

"I said drink, not spit." *snort* Heh! And the Valar, know everything? Perish the thought! Of course they don't know everything, that's Atar's job! *grin* Hmm...I wonder what game they're playing...*grin* although I probably already know what it is, to a point. Brilliant as usual, meldonya!! ~Kaylee!

Author's reply

It is a fallacy among us 'lesser' beings to think that those who are greater than us (spritually if not physically) must be definition "know more" that we do and that often gets translated into "knows everything" and of course that isn't so. Glad you liked this chapter. As for what game is being played... the game of Life, of course... Valar-style. LOL

Anonymous · 7 August 2008 · Chapter 42: An Appointment in Valmar

"Well, at least you were quiet about it," Ingwion said with a snort. "The first time I was brought here I started screaming." Glorfindel stared at the Vanyarin prince in surprise. Ingwion nodded, smiling wryly. "How old were you?" Glorfndel asked. "About ten I think, maybe twelve," Ingwion replied. "I was being presented to the Powers you see, as Atar’s heir. All the Valar were gathered here in this mansion to meet me." "Why here and not on the mountain?" Glorfindel asked. Ingwion shrugged. "I do not know. I only know that I took one look at this place and started screaming. Atar was beside himself with embarrassment and Ammë was about ready to deny she ever gave birth to me." The prince started laughing and Glorfindel smiled in spite of himself. Alassiel and the others smirked. "So what happened?" Glorfindel asked. "He spent the better part of his stay here sitting on my lap and playing with one of my stars." The elves found themselves scrambling to their feet and bowing as Varda stepped down from the entrance, the wreath of living stars shining brightly above her. Her expression was one of mild amusement. "St-star?" Glorfindel stuttered as he stole a look at Ingwion. Ingwion gave him a weak smile and whispered. "It was a very small star." Varda laughed at that. "Small indeed, but it was the only thing that distracted him enough to shut him up so the rest of us could have a decent conversation." Now Ingwion started blushing as the ellyn and ellith around him sniggered. "I don’t think your parents allowed you to return here until you were well past your majority, did they?" Varda looked at Ingwion, and the amusement in her eyes was not at all condescending. "Something like that," Ingwion laughed ruefully. *falls over laughing* Ai, poor, poor Ingwi. *hugs him* I like Varda's stars, especially the small ones. *grin* And I like the description of Valmar and of Manwe and Varda's mansion. *runs to MS Paint to try to draw a rough map of Valmar* ~Kaylee!!! ~Kaylee!!

Author's reply

I modeled Valmar's layout on some of the ceremonial centers of the Mayans and Aztecs, with a few twists of my own. Glad you liked the description of Manwe and Varda's mansion. It was hard to come up with something that would be "not human" in construction. From the description I give of Valmar you should be able to sketch a rough map with no problem. I had to draw one myself to keep things straight as to whose mansion was where along the Landamalle Valion.

Kaylee · 7 August 2008 · Chapter 41: A Slow Recovery

"Oh, child," Ingwë said as he started to weep himself, but laughing at the same time. "I’ve loved you from the moment you stepped forward to introduce yourself and insulted me to my face. I could not help but love you at that moment." *snort* That's too funny. LOVED Ingwion championing Glorfi, and Findis watching over her "nephew" taking turns with Ingwi. I'm glad Glorfi's going to meet with Manwe and he can bring friends!! ~Kaylee!!

Author's reply

Glorfindel is just one of those people who it is hard not to love. He's so... Glorfi! It's hard to resist him. LOL And you can tell he has a lot of people on his side... Very Important People....

Kaylee · 7 August 2008 · Chapter 40: Damage Assessment

Manwë sighed. "I am afraid our good intentions backfired." "Or not," Námo countered and all the other Valar gave him enquiring looks. "I noticed that in the two cases where the elf made it to his ultimate destination, neither arrived at any spatiotemporal coordinate where they were likely to meet themselves or others who knew them. I remarked to Erunáro as we were pursuing Glorfindel that possibly Eru himself had a hand in it, steering our fleeing elves to a spatiotemporal point well after the significant historical event in question. In Ingwë’s case, that was after the elves departed on their Great Journey; for Glorfindel, it was well after all had perished or fled Gondolin, leaving only a dead ruin." "Then you think Eru was responsible...?" Yavanna started to ask, her expression one of surprise. Námo shook his head. "Responsible for the near disaster to Ingwë and the others? No. Capable of taking advantage of the situation when it arose, I have no doubt." This last was said with a knowing smile. "Nor do I," Manwë said, his eyes twinkling with humor as well. *grin* Eru is always full of surprises, isn't He? not to mention a certain elfling Balrog-Slayer...*grins* I can't remember when someone said Glorfindel was put in the Valar's path simply for his entertainment value, or something along that line...but I have to say I agree with that sentiment *giggle* ~Kaylee!!

Author's reply

Eru is indeed full of surprises... and with someone like Glorfindel to deal with He has to be two steps ahead of everyone else. LOL

Kaylee · 5 August 2008 · Chapter 39: Rescue Mission Into the Past

Oh, Glorfi, Glorfi, Glorfi...whatever are we going to do with you? You even give the Valar pause. Thank Iluvatar for Erunaro, whose brilliance got them on the right track (he's almost as brilliant as you, meldonya!) *amused* So Glorfindel stole a sword. What is it with these Reborn and stealing? So...Lord Namo punished him by filling Glorfi with divine Love? That's a punishment? *ponders* ~Kaylee!!

Author's reply

He didn't so much steal it as borrowed it. I'm sure he had every intention of returning it to its proper owner... eventually. *grin* Only Glorfindel thought he was being punished or should be punished. Námo of course wasn't punishing him at all, though he played Glorfindel's game so as not to make things too confusing for the poor ellon. Glorfindel already was suffering a psychic break and Námo didn't want to make it worst. Filling him with divine Love was Námo's way of bringing healing to Glorfindel.

Anonymous · 5 August 2008 · Chapter 38: Ingwë Alone

"The Valar summon thee, High King. We are sent to escort thee." Ingwë stared at the Maia for some time. "And the Valar deem it necessary to send fourteen of you where one has always sufficed in the past? Have I fallen so low in their esteem that they must needs assure my presence by force of numbers?" Fionwë shook his head. "Say rather that our Masters value you too highly to do other than honor you with their most trusted servants as your escort." "And if I refuse the summons?" Ingwë asked quietly. "I do not wish to leave my people alone and defenseless in their slumbers. Someone needs to keep watch over them." Now Fionwë smiled and came to Ingwë, putting his hands on the High King’s shoulders with great familiarity. "Child, do you really think your people are alone? Look now." He breathed gently upon Ingwë’s eyes then turned him around. Ingwë gasped. Everywhere he looked Maiar stood, each beside a slumbering elf. Each one’s gaze was intent upon the sleeping form over which they stood guard, never taking their eyes off their charges. Ingwë felt faint and Fionwë had to steady him. "Come, Ingwë," the Maia whispered. "It is best not to keep the Valar waiting." I liked this whole part, not to mention Manwe finding Ingwe and holding him, and singing to him. I liked his explanation of what elder brothers were for. *grin* But the part I emphasized in that bit reminded me a bit of the "fairy ointment" in tales I'd read that when applied to the eyes, let you see things you didn't know were there before. ~Kaylee!!!

Author's reply

I actually modeled this scene from biblical stories where the eyes of mortals are opened to the spiritual world by such measures.

Kaylee · 5 August 2008 · Chapter 37: An Ancient Lullaby

*sighs* Lirulin, Lirulin...*shakes head* Glorfi is right about Lord Namo. He doesn't like quitters. He doesn't at all. *hugs Ingwe* Manwe's a very good big brother. *dryly* and probably only a big brother would think it was a good idea to leave his little brother asleep on the floor of his own dining hall. *rolls eyes and grins* ~Kaylee!!

Author's reply

Never thought of Manwë as being Ingwë's big brother, but I think you must be right. And of course as a big brother he acts accordingly. *grins* I'm sure he found it most amusing to lay Ingwë on the floor the way he did.

Kaylee · 5 August 2008 · Chapter 36: A Lesson In Forgiveness

Well, here I am at the end of the chapter and Alassiel is now friends with Glorfi...Lurilin is fading! :( Namo is back on good terms both with Glorfi and Alassiel (however much 'on good terms' was with Alassiel in the first place, I wouldn't know, lol) And...Namo has been thoroughly scolded by Manwe. *winces at the Elder King's threat* Would...would Manwe really do that to Namo? Or is this like in Wars of the Valar when he was being mean to Namo that one time because he had to be? *bites lip nervously* Poor Namo, he never gets a break. *hugs him* ~Kaylee!!! *on second thought, it's not good to be on Manwe's bad side....* *looks at Lord Manwe* M’avatyaruvalyë nillo yando, Aran Meletyalda?

Author's reply

I'm not sure if Manwë really meant what he said or not but he is the Elder King and no one to mess with. Námo knows this so I suspect he takes him at his word. Something to remember if ever you meet up with Manwë. *grin*

Kaylee · 5 August 2008 · Chapter 35: Post Mortem

So here I am once again, meldonya, to tell you that I officially love Ingwion (well, you know I like Ingwion anyway, but here I do love him) for apologizing to his atar and promising to do his best to care for Glorfindel. He's so wonderful. *grin* *muses* Is Ingwion married? Does he have elflings? If he's Arafinwe's first cousin, surely he's old enough? What about Indil, how old is she? ~Kaylee!! *hoping you have fun in Moscow and St. Petersburg, meldonya!*

Author's reply

Ingwion is cool and he definitely grows on one. I think he's one of my favorite OCs although he's something of a canon character in the sense that in earlier writings Ingwë's son is mentioned though there he has the name Ingil. I was unaware of that initially so I gave him the name Ingwion instead. He is certainly old enough to marry as is Indil. Her wedding is mentioned in my short story "iLálala Vala" found in "Fiondil's Tapestry".

Kaylee · 5 August 2008 · Chapter 34: A Lesson In Manners

I love Namo's witty comments..."Do I look like your mother?" *snicker* But I can't say I cared much for his actions toward Alassiel and Glorfindel. I wouldn't want him to force any memories of mine on someone else either, no matter what they called me. Speaking of which...Ingwion? Isn't "Etyangol" a bit uncalled for? *raises eyebrows at the Vanyarin prince* Well, at least he changes for the better, meldonya, a lot faster than his cousin. *sighs* Who are Elessairon and Undomion really? They've mostly stayed in the background and this is the most I've heard from them, I think. Who are their families and why did they go with Glorfindel? I saw Glorfi briefly think of Elessairon's father and I gather they don't like each other (Elessairon's atar and Glorfi)? ~Kaylee!!!!

Author's reply

Námo did sort of cross the line here but for a reason. The Amaneldi need a wake-up call and this is the beginning of it. Elessairon and Lómion are ellyn who are part of Arafinwë's court. They are junior courtiers (along with the others who accompanied Glorfindel to Vanyamar, including Vorondil) who are being fostered in Ingwë's court for a season to further their education. Elessairon's atar is something of snob and has no use for Reborn or anyone else for that matter. Glorfindel definitely does not like him though he does like Elessairon. They're friends.

Kaylee · 5 August 2008 · Chapter 33: Connecting the Dots

*glares at Turgon* How...how could he...*Huggles Glorfi* Oh, wouldn't I love to be a fly on the wall for that Judgement...I think my dislike of Turucano would be just as great as for Morgoth (and as great as it was for Feanor, until "Ascent" showed up...) IF Glorfi hadn't stepped in to defend him. Gondolin being for another's benefit...Earendil, as you said to another reviewer...Hmm, any chance of an AU-fic where Earendil comes into his own? I like how both Ingwe and Namo call Glorfi "yonya". He has lots of atari...Arafinwe, Ingwe, and Namo! which means his new amilli are Earwen, Elindis and Vaire. *grin* And a new Auntie, Findis *grins more* ~Kaylee!!

Author's reply

Turgon does have much to answer for and someday I hope to tell his story (or part of it including his judgment). I have no plans to doing an AU-fic about anyone. I prefer to remain as close to canon as I possibly can. Glorfindel does indeed have lots of 'atari' and 'amilli'. If anyone needs them, he certainly does. *grin*

Kaylee · 5 August 2008 · Chapter 29: Travel Plans

How did I skip reviewing this chapter??? *sighs* And one of my favorites too, at least until a new favorite comes along...*sideways grin at Edlyn and Rhyselle* But seriously, meldonya, some of my favorite parts are here. Sador is going to Tol Eressea, Laurendil and Manwen are headed to Lorien (which isn't a punishment! of course not!) and Netilmire is all excited to go with Sador, yay! (good for her, he needs the support and company...poor elfling, if he's going to come out with lines like "if Finrod can have a stuffed toy, why can't I?" he wouldn't be much good at the guild meeting by himself.) Although I admit, I did love that line. I also liked the fact that Arafinwe's been practicing his Sindarin. *grin* ~Kaylee!!!!!!! *who is very sorry for somehow managing to miss reviewing this chapter!!!!*

Author's reply

Well, I'm glad this is one of your favorite chapters. *grin* There is certainly a lot going on in it with everyone getting ready to depart Tirion for other parts of Aman. And poor Glorfindel feeling left out of it all.

Kaylee · 31 July 2008 · Chapter 32: In the High King's Garden

Meldonya!!! First of all, I love this: Ingwë then reached down and pulled Glorfindel into his embrace, rubbing his back to calm him. "It does no good to cower child," he said almost in a whisper, though Olórin heard him well enough. "It only makes Them more eager to see you in such a state." Olórin raised an eyebrow at that statement and saw Ingwë wink at him. He smiled and nodded. "Wh-why?" Glorfindel asked, curious in spite of himself. "Because, deep down they’re like elflings poking a stick into an ant hill just to see the ants scurry around. Give them a reason to see you scurry even more and they will take it with all the manic glee of a twelve year old." Somehow that image forced a giggle out of Glorfindel and he began trembling again, but with suppressed laughter rather than with fear. Ingwë continued to rub the ellon’s back as he held him through the spasms. Soon the laughter ended to be replaced by tears. Whatever Ingwë might say it had still been a shock to read those words from Námo. Ingwë held him then as well, never scolding him for breaking down. Finally, Olórin decided to take a hand and stood up, gently pulling Glorfindel out of Ingwë’s embrace and into his own. I think Alassiel needs to learn some humility...*wry grin* but of course she will, who am I kidding? *winks* And Findis is just lovely...especially here: "Glorfindel?" Glorfindel looked up into Findis’ eyes, full of concern, and smiled. "Your brother allows me to call him ‘Atar’." Findis nodded, smiling in return. "Yes, he told me." He gave her a sly grin, then. "So does that mean I get to call you ‘Auntie’?" Her laughter was merry. "I would be honored... Nephew." She took him by the shoulders and planted a kinsman’s kiss upon his cheek and he returned the gesture. "Now, I was asked by Uncle Ingwë to escort you back to his study, my lord." *grins* ~Kaylee!! *hoping Fiondil is enjoying his travels*

Author's reply

Ingwë has dealt with the Valar for a very long time now and knows (or thinks he knows) how they are and I think his image of them here is more for Glorfindel's benefit than anything. Findis is much like her brother, Arafinwë, and Alassiel could certainly learn a few things from her if she bothered, but we know of course that she will get her comeuppance sooner rather than later via Námo and Finrod. *grin* Fiondil is enjoying his travels very much, thank you! LOL By the way, you missed reviewing chapter 29... no fair skipping chapters now. *grin*

Kaylee · 29 July 2008 · Chapter 31: Glorfindel Among the Vanyar

*Huggles Glorfi* Well, he did deserve that note from Namo for his outburst. But I can understand his feelings too...and apparently (thank Eru), so can Ingwe. I am very glad of that. How *did* Ingwe know he was a Balrog-Slayer? did Olorin or Manwe tell him? or Namo? ~Kaylee!

Author's reply

How did Ingwë know that Glorfindel was a Balrog-Slayer? He's the High King of all the Elves in Aman... it's his business to know these things. *grin* Ingwë will prove to be a powerful ally for Glorfindel and the other Reborn, though we won't actually see that happening until Book Two.

Kaylee · 29 July 2008 · Chapter 30: Departures

I dislike Tinwetariel very much. Just where does she get her ideas about Glorfi and the other Reborn? *shakes head* She's just impossible. *sighs* Poor Glorfi, having to deal with the likes of her. ~Kaylee!!

Author's reply

Tinwetariel is like many of the Amaneldi believing that because they never rebelled against the Valar that they are somehow superior to those who did and that the Reborn should never have been allowed to leave Mandos at all. Of course, it does not make it any better for her that her own son is presently in Mandos, having died during the War of Wrath. She definitely has a lot of issues.

Kaylee · 29 July 2008 · Chapter 28: Judgment Passed

Well, I'm glad "little Finda" had his "atto" and "emme" to help him after his Judgement. And I'm also glad he remembered his promise to be good for his atto, and went with his "unca' Namo" (my fingers wanted to type "unca' Fiondil" *snort*) like a good little elfling. *hugs little Finda* And I'm also glad that not-so-little-Finda had Namo there to help him cope with his memories. Namo's pretty handy if he can conjure baths out of thin air. *wry grin* That was nice of him. And I'm glad Finda decided to keep the toy. But since when is Finda Namo's favorite elfling...I thought Glorfi was! *pretends to pout* *grin* ~Kaylee!!

Author's reply

Námo is pretty handy to have around, that's for sure! LOL Anyway, I think with Námo every Reborn is his favorite elfling at the time that he is dealing with them. *grin*

Kaylee · 28 July 2008 · Chapter 27: Judgment Recalled

"Why did you leave, Findaráto?" Námo asked from his throne. "And more importantly, why did you not turn back with your atar?" Manwë added. Finrod sighed. How could he possibly answer either question, especially, when, in his mind, they were one and the same? It wasn’t because of his cousin, Fëanáro. Erm...Wasn't Feanor his uncle...half-uncle to be specific? AW! *huggles Finda* crimeny...why did he have to be so arrogant with the Valar here? *shakes head* oh well...at least he's got Namo here at the end to hold him through it all... ~Kaylee!!

Author's reply

You're right... it was his uncle... I had made a correction elsewhere in the story but failed to remember this. Thanks for pointing it out. I've since made the correction. If you find any other such errors please let me know. I want this to be as perfect as humanly possible. I think Finrod had decided that now that he was dead and had to face the Valar for his rebellion against them, that there wasn't much else they could do to him. He left Aman the son of the youngest prince in the House of Finwë and returned the King of his own kingdom though he abdicated the crown at the end. He was not the same Findaráto who left for love of his cousins Turgon and Fingon.

Kaylee · 28 July 2008 · Chapter 26: The Cost of Kingship

"Ávartyara nillo, aranya," he said sheepishly. "Ú-moe an ngohenad, Glorendil," Finrod replied softly. *puzzled* Why does Laurendil speak in Quenya and Finrod answer in Sindarin? and I think the imitation of Lord Namo was too funny...wonder if Lord Namo appreciated his elflings mocking him *wry grin* I liked the whole chapter, meldonya, but for some reason those things stood out most! oh, and the "the truth of the matter is, we're bored." When that was NOT the truth at all... ~Kaylee!!

Author's reply

I think Finrod speaking Sindarin to Laurendil was his way of telling him that Finrod has not forgotten their lives in Beleriand. It was a way for him to honor that without having to come right out and say it. Laurendil would've been speaking Quenya as a matter of course since he is now in Aman, so Finrod replying in Sindarin was just a way for them to reconnect after a thousand or so years.

Kaylee · 28 July 2008 · Chapter 23: Initiation

*blinks* I skipped reviewing here? *frowns* Ooookay... "You two look positively barbaric." And... The Queen laughed and turned to Sador standing to one side. "You look lovely, too, dear. That tabard fits you well." Glorfindel and Finrod had stopped twirling by then. "Yes, he does, my lady," Glorfindel said, "but he’s not completely dressed." "You’re right, brother. I should have realized," Finrod said, with feigned shock, for he and Glorfindel had planned this earlier, though they had told no one, not even Arafinwë. He took a bemused Sador by the arm. "Where are your warrior braids, penneth?" Sador raised an eyebrow at that and shook his head in denial. "I-I don’t deserve..." "Nonsense," Finrod stated flatly. "You fought against my cousins’ armies, twice. Don’t think I don’t know about what you did in Doriath, young Sador. You’ve earned those braids and you will wear them." "B-but I died!" was the only thing Sador could think of in protest. Both Finrod and Glorfindel laughed, their faces lit with not only humor but with joy. "So did we," they said almost simultaneously and laughed even harder. *snicker* Really? I hadn't guessed. *wry grin* Brilliant as ever, meldonya. I especially liked the warrior initiation ceremony thing. *grin* Where did you get that from? Did you make it up? Was it Tolkien's? ~Kaylee!!!!

Author's reply

The warrior initiation is definitely not Tokien... I pretty much invented it myself, starting with the question: How would Elves fighting against Melkor initiate their young warriors? And the rest, as they say, is history....

Kaylee · 28 July 2008 · Chapter 25: Feasts and Follies

*raises eyebrows* And where, pray tell, did Varda learn the words to verse thirty-one? *snicker* Well, at least Amarie kept her temper this time...well, for longer than she did last time, anyway. *snorts at Finda and Glorfi throwing their clothes off so their atar and Laurendil's would both lose the bet* And Amarie called him Finrod! And threatened him in a way that would make Lady Vaire proud, LOL... "Wait until you're married, dears..." I love it! *grins* And Olorin saw the whole thing!!! ~Kaylee!!

Author's reply

This was a fun chapter to write, especially from Amarië's POV as we see her struggling to keep her cool and be the new and reformed elleth. As for where Varda learned the words to verse thirty-one.... she is a Valië... I'm sure she has her methods. *grin*
