The dwarves are loving this, aren't they? Practical joking par excellence. Although, hopefully, they felt guilty for making Elrohir take the long way when he was wounded. Still - Thandir and Eluwen deserve a bit of light entertainment after the trouble the twins are giving them.
I do like the bright-eyed young twins - everything is so new and exciting for them.
Author's reply
Yes, the dwarves are having a good time with the twins and probably spent many a evening afterwards laughing over their performance.

I love the way you keep going back between all of the parties concerned,it gives so many view points of the story, Elleden and Elrohir are blissfully ignorant of all who are trying to protect them, but that is youth is it not?,I know I have been felt to a degree some of the panic about some of the things my kids tried when they were younger(glad those days are past)sometimes,I hope the twins make it okay will be waiting for more!
Author's reply
I don't think any of us truly realize just how "closely watched" we were by our elders who only wished us the best. Only when we are older do we really appreciate what they went through for our sakes. Hopefully the twins will come to realize this, too, someday.

Oh my - those dwarves (what a great bunch they are!) turned up at just the right moment. Elladan and Elrohir were in a very dangerous situation there - but the luck of the twins held. And Thandir and Eluwen managed to retain their anonymity, too.
And this.... What the goblins did to them then was done in the dark. ... is brilliant. Ominous and scary and far more effective than any amount of description.
I am enjoying this tale!
Author's reply
Hi Bodkin! Glad you're enjoying the tale. When I came to this scene with the goblins attacking it was very scary for me to write and that line just sort of popped into my head. I find that just a hint of a suggestion is often more powerful than all the descriptions in the world. Our imaginations are quite capable of "filling in the blanks" if we let them, and far more effectively than mere words can do. Thanks for your encouragement.

· Chapter 2: Goblins, Wargs and Bears, Oh My!
This is going to seem a very long journey for Thandir and Eluwen - a very, very long journey!
The results of the journey are likely to seem very long for Elladan and Elrohir - they have aroused the wrath of some very formidable elves.
Author's reply
You think so? *grin*. I suspect, though, that in comparison to some of their scouting assignments, Thandir and Eluwen would consider this "light duty". As for the Twins.... I definitely wouldn't want to be in their shoes when "adar" catches up with them.

I am enjoying this story quite a bit. I think most of us older ones can remember the time when our parents watched or had someone else watch our every move. We didn't appreciate it at the time, but, usually, it kept us out of serious trouble. Ditto for Lord Elrond & his lovely, albeit, trouble-prone boys....
They will come to appreciate it after all is said & done- though, it may take a few centuries. ^__^
Author's reply
Yes, growing up is hard. You think you can handle things, but your elders often know better and try to help you, even if you don't know it or appreciate it. I guess it's as true for Elves as it is for Men... Glad you are enjoying the story so far.

I thought they were both going to be Orc dinner for sure or tortured, but Im glad to see them rescued, as I said before I love the couple tracking them and their personalities! What luck they have all had ,this could of turned into a tragedy. The dwarves are very sweet!
Author's reply
Obviously, Someone is looking out for the Twins (and it's not necessarily the Author!). I'm glad you like Thandir and Eluwen. I've grown fond of them myself. As for the dwarves, I wanted to portray them and their relation with elves in a better light than is normally done. Even though Eregion is no more and Celebrimbor is long dead, there is still friendship (however wary) and commerce between elves and dwarves at this time. It will be another 1700 years or more before Khazad-dûm will fall to the Balrog and the suspicion and mistrust between the races grows.

I like actions and I like this story with lots of those. Elrond will wait for the twins in Lorien, that means he still trust his twins ability to arrive Lorien save. Or...he trust the guides instead?! Please update soon.
Author's reply
Glad you are enjoying the story. As to just how much Elrond trusts his sons... or the guides... remains to be seen. I plan to update on a regular basis, every other day or so until the story is complete. You won't have long to wait between chapters, I promise.

Once again you have me laughing and thoroughly enjoying the (mis)adventures of the Twins. I am glad that you are able to give us another traveling story. I am enjoying this one as much as Tâd Edhel a Firion!
I can't wait to read about the look on the twin's faces when they see their father waiting for them!
Author's reply
Glad you are enjoying the story, Idril. I enjoyed writing this story as much as I enjoyed writing "Tâd Edhel a Firion" (if not more so). I guess having traveled a bit myself I can appreciate how people can "fall" into (mis)adventures quite easily and unintentionally.

The twins are in for it...
I hate to think what Elrond would do to them....
:-P
Author's reply
Probably what every parent has ever done: give them what for and then hold them close as if he never wants to let them go. At least, if I had any children, that's what I would do....

Wow - they did get into a lot of trouble rather quickly, didn't they?
Author's reply
Well what do you expect from the sons of Elrond? They may think they're grown up but they're really a long ways away from it still. And trouble seems to be their middle names anyway.

Fiondil,
That was hilarious. Do me a favor, lock El & El in a room for the next century (or two) please. I would ask how is it possible for two people to get into so much trouble in so short time but unfortunately I already know.
Thindir and Eluwen are going to be ready to sail after this.
Until next time, your fan
Eliza

I did have a lot of fun writing the scene with the bear cub and could see the twins running along the ridge with the cub after them so clearly. I was laughing myself even as I was writing it. And the scouts will probably think long and hard before they ever except another such assignment as this one is turning out to be.

this is great! I can't wait to see what happens next! the poor scouts, though. I wonder what they'll have to say to Elrond when they get to Lorien? Or what the twins will say? Or Elrond himself? I'm sure Galadriel will find the whole thing completely amusing, though......Of course, that is, if Elrond can make it to Lorien without incident himself. He IS their father, after all......hmmmmm. Will Glorfindel be going along as well? :D Please, hurry with the next chapter!
Author's reply
Glad you're enjoying the story. Yes, Elrond is indeed their father and you will have to wait and see what, if anything, happens to him along the way. And you know Elrond can't go anywhere without Glorfindel tagging along *grin*. The story is completely written and I am posting chapters as my schedule allows, though I suspect it will be completely posted within the next week or wo, so just hang in there.

It must be very handy to be able to send the Secret Service out to pursue your sons through their first brave, on-their-own adventure. A great comfort to the folks at home! Only, typically of Elrond's heedless offspring, they seem to have put themselves in the way of rather more danger than anyone expected.
Looking forward to more!
Author's reply
Thanks Bodkin. Glad you're enjoying the story. Yes, the Twins are very adapt at putting themselves in the way of more danger than they need to be, and obviously an avalanche won't be the worse of it. Stay tuned.

Well, that has potential. It'll be interesting to see what sort of trouble the twins get up to - and would be somewhat funny if they ended up rescuing their 'protectors.'

Sounds like the twins are off on a great disaster adventure! I am glad Elrond sent people to watch over them, though it sounds like they may have their own troubles.
So do you have Celeborn and Galadriel visiting Lothlorien for an extended period of time? It is always interesting to imagine where they might be early in the Third Age and what they might be up to.
Author's reply
"Disaster" is probably closer to the truth! As for Celeborn and Galadriel... you'll just have to wait and see, won't you? *grin*

· Chapter 1: They'll Be Comin' Round the Orod When They Come
Welcome back Fiondil,
Since I loved your other story, I'm estatic to see this one and what a great beginning.
So now it is the terrible twins turn. As a mom of twin 13 yr old boys I shudder to think of what trouble El & El can get into. Can elves hair turn white? I really enjoy the way you write the couples in your stories especially Eluwan & Thandir, nice to see a little passion in our elves. And as always love the chapter titles (Valar, I'm getting old) though now I'm going to have that little ditty going around in my head all day with a West Virginia accent! LOL
Update soon
Eliza
Author's reply
Glad to be back Eliza (though I never really left). *grin* And I'm glad you like the way this story begins. I think elves are more passionate than we give them credit for and I wanted to show that in certain ways. I had a lot of fun with Eluwen and Thandir. I think they're very interesting characters in their own right.
Don't worry, I'll be updating fairly regularly. This story is only about half as long as the last so you won't have too long of a wait.
