Thranduil in the bath couldn't leave my thoughts today!!!! This story is really wonderfully written!!!! It would be great if Gwaelas could find a wife but if it is possible to find a girl who would be understanding enough to share his time with the king? Somehow it is difficult for me to imagine that he would leave Thranduil. Love political background. I still don't like Mithrandir. He is just too arrogant and doesn't sometimes show Thranduil the proper respect as a head of the realm. It was awesome to read about another duel of wills between Thranduil and Sauron. Hopefully they will get some peace for a while. Do you think Legolas will fall in love again? You are a brilliant story-teller!!!It is past midnight and I am still reading but every second is worth it!!! Stay safe!!! This update is the best thing for me today!!!

I always love seeing a chapter alert! I am so glad Mithrandir chased the Necromancer away for a while so now Thranduil can have a little rest and peace.

Conquistadora! I cannot tell you how happy I am when I see your name on top of the storylist for it means the return of a story that I truly love. At this point the characters are like old friends returning for another visit! This passage made me laugh with remembrance. >Thranduil blinked, torn between triumph and indignation. “Indeed?” he said at >last, his voice thick with irony. “How shocking.” As I recall Thranduil's information at another council in times past was looked upon askance and so was he. There is so much in this story that I love. The sheer scope of it is amazing! I am so happy that Gandalf has chased the Necromancer away and giving Thranduil a little peace after a thousand years. >"I had the distinct impression that I caught him unawares. It seems his will >was entirely trained elsewhere at the time.” Again I almost snorted by my tea as I was reading thinking! "Yes, well. I wonder why that was!" Thank you so much for the lovely breakfast treat of reading your story! Stay Safe, Mellon nin! ((hugs)) MM

You're welcome, and thank you! I'm trying my best to update as much as possible before life gets in the way for a bit. In a few weeks we'll be juggling a newborn and plans for a long-distance move, both very exciting and slightly terrifying. :D
mystarlight · 25 July 2020 · Chapter 30: The Pieces Are Moving
Of course the longer meeting with the king the better :D but this chapter greatly shows that life just goes on and links some threads. Before the army marches to the war they have to be prepared well or they will just lose. This chapter shows Thranduil as a king who cares about his people's lives and doesn't wait idly as a miracle or Valar appear to save him but he is the one who thinks, cares and saves people. He is a host of his realm and he really cares. Love this aspect of his. It is not trivial because it spares lives.
mystarlight · 24 July 2020 · Chapter 30: The Pieces Are Moving
I was in the seventh heaven when I saw the notification about update!!! Thranduil is so clever to use additional reinforcement for the breast plate and it could create additional income for the realm if they decided to share this innovation. Being presented to such ancient King had to be a bit scary experience for the king of Men. I tried to imagine how I could feel in such occasion and even if I knew the king was friendly I would definitely be scared because it is difficult to comprehend how many ages he survived and what opponents he faced and still he was alive. It is so sad Amroth died. I really love your idea that he was Celeborn's son. I wonder if Legolas tries to find someone to fall in love with or he waits to get to Valinor and perhaps reunite with his ex fiancee. He must be a bit disappointed that they postponed the wedding because they could face together difficulties and now he surely wonders if perhaps she builds her life with someone else. You are a WONDERFUL WRITER. I couldn't be happier with your update!!!!

Mirkwoodmaiden · 23 July 2020 · Chapter 30: The Pieces Are Moving
Conquistadora! Quite the whirlwind of history in this chapter. I really enjoyed the mention of the peoples who will become the Rohirrim! Tragic what happened Amroth and his love. Thranduil must feel besieged at times and as ever he seeks to protect his people. I continue to love this story so look forward to see where you take it. Stay safe mellon nin! MM

May I ask what happened to the people who were saved by Thranduil? I know they were offered a shelter in Mirkwood but what happened later to them?

I imagined they carried on living happily in Mirkwood, maybe joined the Woodmen. :)
mystarlight · 18 July 2020 · Chapter 29: Blood and Roses
I couldn't get a better gift today!!!! The battle scenes are incredible!!! I felt as if I was standing there with my king ready to follow him. Wonderful scene when his guards did everything to rescue him. It reminds me of the Hobbit where lords surrounded him to fight with him. It shows how much he is loved and respected. I absolutely loved the scene when they found out that Thranduil was rescued by Lin's pendant. Is it possible to know if she is still in Mandos Halls or she was given another life in Valinor? Is it possible that lord Namo allowed her to reach her somehow to him? I loved Mithrandir' s remark that if more like him Elves still lived in the Middle Earth it would be easy to defeat the enemy!!! The bond between Thranduil and Legolas is so well written!!! It is wonderful that each of them knows that he is loved and appreciated. I am mesmerised by your story and you made my day with update!!! I fell in love with multidimensional characters from the first page and I love them more and more with each chapter you have added. The world you created is stunning. It makes me to immerse myself in this world and never want to leave. This story is extremely well written with a thrilling plot and unpredictable twists and turns. A cast of unforgettable, engaging and complex characters that often make reread chapters and can't have them enough!!! Thank you for offering me the opportunity to take part in this epic journey. Stay safe!!!

Conquistadora! You cannot imagine my delight on seeing that you had posted a new chapter to this story! It remains wonderful! Like the return of an old friend! May we expect updates a little more frequently? Hint! hint! ;-) The depth and richness of this story is one of the reasons it is so compelling. One question. Where are we in the timeline of the Third Age. I think I remember when the Rhovanion plague happened but was the battle just after the plague? I have something of a permission to ask. I am currently writing a story about Thranduil and Legolas which will eventually lead to their reunion after the Ring War. When writing for Thranduil I find that I am referring to his memories of having dealings with Sauron in his guise as Annatar in the Second Age remembering your story. Is it OK that I am writing that these are memories that Thranduil is having? You wrote it so well and so vividly it stuck with me. I hope you don't mind. So happy to see an update! Stay safe! MM

Thank you! I am slightly mortified that it takes me so long to update. According to my master draft timeline, we are currently in TA 1700, roughly 60 years after the plague. (To think that file has been a work in progress for sixteen years. Yikes.) Feel free to reference the Annatar bits in your story! I think that's awesome. Maybe include a footnote pointing your readers my way. :D

Celebriante · 24 April 2020 · Chapter 28: Hands of a King
Hi! I just finished this 3-part story while being locked down, so thank you for writing it. I've always loved the Elvenking, so it was a pleasure to see him throughout the ages and not merely the third one. He has become a really powerful sovereign and I really like how you portray him. I was really saddened by the death of Lindoriel, but I suppose that makes Thranduil stronger and eager to fight the evil of Sauron. Please, keep up with the good writing. I can't wait to read the next chapter. Celebriante

Mirkwoodmaiden · 20 February 2020 · Chapter 22: Winds of Ruin
First of all the Dwarves really drove a hard bargain, didn't they. Small wonder Thranduil's opinion of dwarves is not high. Love the introduction of the crown of twigs and berries and leaves though. Very nice touch! MM

Mirkwoodmaiden · 20 February 2020 · Chapter 13: Whispers in the Dark VII
Conquistadora! The power and vibrancy of this chapter is truly beautiful. Thranduil as you have always written finds a way when his back is against the wall and pushed to find new ways to not only to survive but to thrive! He simply draws upon the will within himself and his extended family to protect his realm and his people without rings to protect. The communing with the forest was a sheer joy to read. The joy and resilience of the Nandor are a wonder. The combined force of his family and Thranduil's sheer force of his will to touch and then harness the lifeforce of the forest in an effort to protect was brilliantly rendered and compelled me to comment on this chapter! Simply lovely! Thank you! MM
