Wonderful! Good move on Gimli's part. I'm sure the horse will never tell (he hopes to get more apples, I'm sure). Well done!

Gimli lightly rubbed the horse's forehead. "You're not so bad, I guess…for a demonic beast." That was a nice little story! Your portraying of gruff, yet gentle Gimli is wonderful! I think, Legolas would never have made a joke of this. But, hey, with Dwarves and Elves you never know ;-) Thank you, Misty!

I think you're right about that. If Legolas had happened to witness this event, he would likely have kept the knowledge to himself. At least, in my version of things, he wouldn't tease Gimli about it. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I liked this! I'm sure Arod understood Gimli quite well, and accepted Gimli's peace offering. Thanks for making me smile this morning!

Author's reply

I do enjoy bringing smiles to people. ;-) I'm glad you liked this little story. I do think that Arod understood and accepted the peace offering, too.

What a lovely tale of a truce - drawn between two beings who are both remarkably fond of the fool elf.

Author's reply

Yes, I think that since they share a common friend, they could make peace with each other. Gimli may never enjoy riding a horse, but at least he doesn't have such an enmity with Arod any more. :)

Ah! Gruff exterior, soft heart! *g*

Author's reply

That's Gimli all right! He just doesn't like people to know about the soft heart part. ;-)

Adorable! And who knows how much Arod understands... and keeps to himself? This really made me smile. :D

Author's reply

Oh, I think Arod took that as a sign that Gimli did not dislike him after all. I'm always happy to bring a smile to someone's face. :)

What a wonderful little story. I know, as everyone does, that under all that gruff exterior, Gimli has a heart of gold. Rewarding Arod for saving Legolas was a thoughtful thing to do. I wish Legolas had seen the encounter. But I'm glad *we* did. Nicely done!

Author's reply

Thanks. I can almost see Legolas standing in the corner, staying quiet and watching this happen. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
