Queen Galadriel · 31 December 2006 · Chapter 21: Laughter and Tears

Oh, you've kept your promise! *smiles with relief* And so you relieve the cliff-hanger and leave us on a happy note for now. Hmm, why does Frodo and Sam's argument seem so...familiar? LOL! "There now, lads..." LOL! Sam sounds just like a mother hen himself! Love it! But seriously, I'm so glad he remembered that bit of his wise mother's advice. :) Thank you for yet another lovely Yule gift! It'll soon be the turning of the year! God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

Familiar? How so? *looking innocently* I was actually wondering if you'd catch that. :) Yeah. And who else often sounds like a mother hen, Hmm? *winking broadly at you* Sam really is so wonderful, isn't he? You're welcome! Yeah....I'd like to sleep to welcome the new year, but I have so much to do. I guess writing it in would be better. :) *gasp* I was just inspired!! Namarie! GOd Bless, YOur Frodo

Larner · 31 December 2006 · Chapter 21: Laughter and Tears

A wise woman was Bell Gamgee. So glad Sam was able to remember her.

Author's reply

Yes, Sam needs to remember his mum. :) I have always imagined her as being so wonderful. :) God Bless, FB

Antane · 5 November 2006 · Chapter 20: The morning

Frodo’s brown curls stuck any which way they wanted to (and they each had a different opinion) - Love it! But trying to lie to his Sam, he should know better than that - must be another sign how sick he is, plain out of his mind. "I’ll bring you breakfast in bed." Frodo didn’t even protest, rose slowly and shuffled back to his room. ‘That settles it.’ Sam thought to himself. ‘He’s most definitely not feeling well.’ Namarie, God bless, Im mil le, Antane :)

Author's reply

But, Antane, I was describing *my* hair! LOL! LOL! Not really. It does seem that way in the morning though. And I just couldn't help add a little humour to coushin the coming angst. *claps hand over mouth* Did I say that out loud? Actually...when Frodo tried to cover up how bad he felt, it proved that he wasn't so bad he couldn't even think of defending himself. Well, perhaps 'defending' isn't the right word. He was well enough to still have an ounce of Baggins stubborness, at least. But the going back to bed without protest was a dead give-away. Namarie, mell nin! Im mil le, God Bless, Frodo Baggins

Antane · 5 November 2006 · Chapter 19: Relief

Finally getting back to this story, sorry to be so late! The Hand of Iluvatar indeed it must have been. Love the ending of Aragorn sleeping in Merry's bed. :) Namarie, God bless, my dear! Antane

Author's reply

*smiling to myself* I thought you would like that part about the hand of Iluvatar. There is no other way he could have been saved. I thought it would be comical to have a man have to sleep in a child size bed. That is one thing I have never had to have experience with. My legs are so short, I can fit almost anywhere, and definitely in any bed. Of course, the fact that I curl up helps a lot too. :) Namarie, God bless, Frodo Baggins Post Script: I forgot, is the letter writing in your court or mine? FB

Andrea · 1 November 2006 · Chapter 20: The morning

It seems I've missed an update! But nothing is better than reading *two* chapters in a row instead :) I'm really glad that Merry is well. Only a broken arm - that *is* a miracle! And when Frodo received the good news his spiritual health improved greatly. But still, there is that bad cough... Halmir, however, is getting worse. He would never admit it, of course. But I think Frodo is right: Halmir is remembering, is haunted by his memories. And so Frodo's mere presence was a relief to him. I'm wondering about the relationship between those two. Does Halmir regard Frodo as if he was his older brother, or more like his father? What do you think?

Author's reply

Hullo, Andrea! That's because I updated two chapters very close together. :) Trust me, I'm glad too. :) I really couldn't have hurt him. After all, he is my cousin and I love him very much. Yes, Frodo did improve spirtually. Physically however...you'll just have to wait and see! Yes, Halmir is getting worse. I hate to do that to him, and all of them for that matter. But this event has been planned since the beginning. Frodo will see him through it. :) The relationship between Frodo and Halmir is very unique. In a sense, they are equals, both fighting pain and deep grief. But also, as Frodo is older and has been through more, he more like an elder brother to Halmir. Don't forget, Frodo's still working through his pain from the Ring and the trauma from the Quest. So, to answer your question, they're more like brothers. :) I must go. Namarie! God Bless, Frodo Baggins

Larner · 31 October 2006 · Chapter 20: The morning

Yes, a bit of healing from one who knows all too well what trauma survived can do to one.

Author's reply

Hannon le! :) Yes, Frodo would know all too well about trauma. Well, Happy Yule and Happy New Year! Namarie! GOd Bless, Frodo Baggins

Elanor Silmariën · 31 October 2006 · Chapter 20: The morning

Ooh, poor Halmir! Poor Frodo! But Merry's alive! *bounces* I didn't think you'd kill him, but I wasn't sure in there, it didn't seem possible he was alive! I love how concerned Frodo is for Halmir, and Miriel is so sweet! Can't wait to hear what happens next! God bless, Ellie

Author's reply

*smiling at you* You should have known that I wouldn't really hurt my Merry bad! I modeled Miriel after QG. The author, not the character in the book. She's my Sam and trust me, she's very motherly. You should see some of the arguments we have! :) Namarie God Bless, Frodo Baggins

Queen Galadriel · 30 October 2006 · Chapter 20: The morning

Oh, dear, dear. The suspense is already up again, but a different kind this time. Sounds like Frodo's got the flu or something similar, or maybe a really bad cold. Maybe pneumonia, but I can't say since I've never had it. He beats all I've ever seen! Saying "all right" one minute and then showing how false it is by just giving in. But I wouldn't want to argue then either, poor dear. And I can see why this ordeal would bring back bad memories for Halmir. He's so young and has already seen too much. What made him cry this time? And are you going to go ahead with you-know-what? :) Or *can* you, with two men...er, Hobbits down already? Can't wait to see what happens next, as always! God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

I can't stand *not* having even a teeny bit of suspense. You should know that, dear. Why, think of it, I've only been here(NC) a year now and just think how many pranks and gifts and what not we've given each other! He's got the flu, because I know what I'm dealing with and I really don't feel like researching right now. The poor thing is going to lost most of his voice soon. It'll come back though. Give him a break, he's a Baggins! And he's Frodo Baggins, at that. He has to at least try to keep up his stubborness and say he's alright. And the reason he gave in so easily is that he was just feeling miserable, and at this point wanted to go back to bed again. Did you like what I did with Halmir's past? I was afraid to post that, knowing you invented him in the first place. You also gave me a little synopsis of his life, but when my computer crashed, I lost all that. I think what I had was close. Well, do you think I should go on with the you-know-what? ;) I want to, but as Frodo is there when the you-know-what happnes, perhaps I ought to wait until he heals. What are your thoughts on this, O Elven Queen, fair and wise? *dodging frusterated blow from you, smiling misheivously* Namarie! God Bless, Frodo Baggins

Larner · 30 October 2006 · Chapter 19: Relief

A miracle indeed. Am proud of all of them, and glad Merry was spared.

Queen Galadriel · 29 October 2006 · Chapter 19: Relief

Oh! Wow! That *is* a miracle! Only a broken arm, I never! But I'm worried for Frodo now. This comment sounds ominous: Then a racking cough sounded from down the hall that stopped Sam dead in his tracks. It was the first time Frodo had coughed, but he knew that it wouldn’t be the last. Oh no. Pneumonia? Yes, they'll certainly need a residential healer, even if Merry can get along pretty well with his arm, and they'll know it by morning, if that's what he's got. Oh dear, and he's just come from Mordor too, where the air is none too kind to the lungs, you know. But isn't it strange how when someone is sick or hurt, there are cozy, quiet times in spite of all the worry? I think that's why I love fics with lots of "healing" or h/c in them. God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

*mischeivous grin* I told you so, QG. Did you actually think *I* could hurt my sweet Merry? Oh no, absolutely not. But the cliffhangers were ever so fun, and I do love (being on the giving end of) suspense. :) Yes, it is the sweet comforting moments that make life so dear and remind us of what is really important in life. But I must go. Namarie, mell nin! Ever your Frodo Baggins

lotrgirl1415 · 29 October 2006 · Chapter 19: Relief

*wipes sweat from fore-head* PHEW! I was worried there for a second...Poor Merry *kisseshisarm to make it feel ALL better* And also Poor Frodo...I was just about to cry along with him.. I love this story soooooooo much! Keep up the GREAT work!! --Katie

Author's reply

Oh, Hannon le, Katie! I just love your reviews. They always make me smile. ;) I wouldn't relax *just* yet, if I were you. But I'm not saying any more on the subject.*Baggins mischeivous grin* Merry is alright, thankfully. Now I am shocked at how everyone thought me capable of really truly hurting my Merry! I'm so glad that you "love this story sooooo much". That really makes my day! *blushing a little* Namarie! God Bless, Frodo Baggins

Larner · 29 October 2006 · Chapter 18: Storms

Bless them all, and particularly the boy. He's been through so much already. And to not realize Merry is yet living must be tearing Frodo's poor heart in two.

Author's reply

yes, poor Frodo's heart is torn in two. Hannon le for always being such a faithful reviewer! Namarie, God Bless, Frodo Baggins

Andrea · 28 October 2006 · Chapter 18: Storms

Do you have a younger brother? Well, I have, he's eight years younger than I am. And when he was little I told him lots of made-up stories, but I never created a lullaby! I like yours very much! I think what Frodo needs most is to be assured that Merry is alive! But as long as he won't wake up, he will remain captured in some terrible, dark dream. I really hope, he'll wake up soon! To me, Halmir is a hero! But maybe he is too young to understand that. And what about Merry? I don't know if Budgie read these chapters, but she would have been proud of you ;-) Please update soon - and don't forget my Merry :)

Author's reply

Yes! My younger brother is seven. In the authors note, I put "while I sang him so work" but I meant sleep. Thank you for the encouragement. That was the only lullaby I've made up that sounds half way decent. I'm not a song or poetry writer unless a fit of inspiration hits me. I tell my brother stories too, but he likes to hear songs more. :) Yes, he does need to be assured. I am working up a tear-jerking scene for that. *mischeivous grin* I'll take care of him, don't worry. Yes, Halmir is a sweety pie! I'll be sad when the story ends. But he may come back yet. He's sitting here staring at me begging me to let him come back. He understands too much for one so young, I'm afraid. Wow! That's a compliment! Budgie is one of the best authors on SOA! :) I wrote these cliffhangers especially for her, so you could recomend the story if you want. I will update soon! I will be very good to Merry. After all, he is my cousin! God Bless, Frodo Baggins

Antane · 28 October 2006 · Chapter 18: Storms

A lovely song, my dear! I thought it was one of the queen's, but you show great talent yourself, but of course I already knew that! :) Namarie, God bless, Im mil le, Antane

Author's reply

Oh hannon le! If you seriously thought it was the Queen's...inspiration must hit when I'm tired! LOL! I only get inspired for poetry and songwriting every so often. Namarie, God Bless, Im mil le, Frodo Baggins Post sript: Have you recieved my letter?

Queen Galadriel · 28 October 2006 · Chapter 18: Storms

Oooooo! Oh, my dear, I lovelovelovelovelovelovelove that lullaby!!!!!! I really do! Especially this bit: Take you now my hand my hand Let your mind be free be free From cares of this world this world Let the wind take you, take you And just follow the dream song To the land of the dreams. Wow! Sometimes I wish I could write songs like this, not really rhyming but beautiful and haunting. Now you've got a lovely tune running though my head. Probably not the right tune, though. Oh, poor dear Halmir! All that fear and exhaustion is catching up with him and he just needs to be loved as much as Frodo does. I love Miriel! She's so motherly and sweet. A beautiful, relaxing chapter, and a beautiful, beautiful song! God bless, An admiring Galadriel

Author's reply

*blushing* *you* admiring *me*? I don't even have a tune to this! YOur tune is probably as good as any. It's far better than anything I could ever come up with. I just remembered what you had said yesterday about how you can sing a poem with the same amount of syllables. So I did that. It just kind of came to me while I was typing. I'm glad you thought it was good. *smiling wryly* Yes, Halmir does need as much love as Frodo does. Do you think I should still go on with...you know? The next thing? I modeled Miriel after you! They all need a mother figure right now. And when Merry comes back, they will need a residential healer. Namarie, mellon nin! Im mil le, God Bless, Yours humbly, Frodo Baggins

Larner · 15 October 2006 · Chapter 17: Hope fading

Most likely the major thing Frodo needs right now is the knowledge that in going on this exploration of the city he didn't inadvertently lead Merry to his death. He needs reassurance that he doesn't always lead others to wounding.

Author's reply

Oh my goodness! I haven't replied to you! *feeling guilty* I am so sorry! And I got your review and loved it and everything! You are so right. Just wait until the next chapter... Hannon le! Namarie, God Bless, Frodo Baggins

Antane · 14 October 2006 · Chapter 17: Hope fading

You had me a little scared with that chapter title, but I think all will be well, at least they are safe now and will be treated physically, drowned in love and I hope for that one particular hobbit, some grief counseling or something! Namarie, God bless, Im mil le, Antane :)

Author's reply

Titles are so very important, because that is what catches people's attention. Don't worry, they'll be drowned in love. I'm kind of stalling now. THe end is very near, and I'm going to miss the lad. :( Don't worry about Frodo. He's a Hobbit, and a Baggins after all! Namarie, mell nin! God bless, Frodo Baggins

Queen Galadriel · 14 October 2006 · Chapter 17: Hope fading

*squirms* Oh, Frodo B! Oh my goodness this must be so much fun. I guess I'll find out soon when I have my own cliff-hangers to play with, but I'd so love to find out now! :) Oh well, both of our sick/hurt ones are in the best of hands now, and more help is on the way to the guest house. Yea, we get to see Miriel again! :) A young woman after my own heart, that one. As usual you have me on the edge of my seat, very very anxious to see what happens next! God bless, Galadriel...who can hardly type for shivering with suspense and because it's so dratted clod in here! Brrr!

Author's reply

Yes, they are in the best of hands, but that does not put them out of danger. Also, have you guessed what I was hinting at yet? I'll give you a *major* hint...it's about Halmir. I know. I modelled Miriel after you. She is actually the Galadriel in our universe, but with a different name. :) Namarie! God bless, Frodo Baggins P.S. It was actually very funny, because as I was writing "Frodo shivered violently"I myslef was sitting here shivering with gooseflesh, and wishing someone would come and wrap me and blanket and carry me to bed. :) FB

Antane · 13 October 2006 · Chapter 16: Hope Renewed

Good - help is on the way! Finally! Glad Pippin was there to wake them up as it were and get them out there to start looking. Namarie, God bless, Im mil le, Antane :)

Author's reply

Leave it to a Took to "wake them up" as you say. :) It is a very good thing that they were found when they were. (if that didn't make sense, my apologies. It's late..er, early, rather. But don't tell Sam:) ) Frodo is still working on reply. He sends his humblest apologies and deepest regrets. He also wishes me to tell you that he is well, and he awaits the chance to write your reply. Namarie, melinyel! God Bless, Frodo Baggins

Larner · 13 October 2006 · Chapter 16: Hope Renewed

Anna heard them, and great hearted pup that she was came to find them! Wonderful that they did go out that night after all.

Author's reply

Yes, or it would have been too late for poor Merry. :( Anna saved the day again! :) God Bless, Frodo Baggins

Elanor Silmariën · 12 October 2006 · Chapter 16: Hope Renewed

Go Anna! Just when I thought it was going to get worse, with Frodo getting sick and all, the others FINALLY start searching! What will happen next, I wonder? God bless, Ellie

Author's reply

Oh you'll just have to wait and see about what happens next. *This* adventure will get better, but there is still a few more adventures to go before the final breaking of the Fellowship. :) *Anna licking your hands, and trying to lick your face* God Bless, Frodo Baggins

Queen Galadriel · 12 October 2006 · Chapter 16: Hope Renewed

Hip hip...HOORAY!!!! Hip hip...HOORAY!!!!!! Our heroes will soon be found! Darling little Anna! *sends virtual doggie treats* :) I'm excited now for what will come after; for I'm sure the adventure won't be over once they reach the safety of the house. Frodo and Merry still have to recover. Oh my goodness, where's Pippin been all this while? Poor Hobbit, I'd forgotten all about him in the worry over his cousins and friend! Ah, I see my maternal side is definitely not wrong in this instance. Poor lads, all of them. I hope we'll see Miriel again? They need a motherly figure now, I think. :) God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

*Anna gobbles up doggy treats and licks your hands. Enjoying all the praise* LOL! OH the adventure is almost over. But there is still more adventures to come, so don't you worry. :) Our dear Pip has been doing Guard Duty. I thought I had put that in the earlier chapters, but I guess not. But, I was just reading over the story and was appalled about how dry and...just terrible it sounds! I am dreadfully sorry to have butchered our story so. :( Once again, your maternal side is correct. Miriel will be that residential healer and mother figure, both of which you suggested. Namarie! God Bless, Frodo Baggins Author Reply: Oh my goodness! I just put "There is still..." and I meant to put "there are...". What am I going to do with myself? FB

Larner · 12 October 2006 · Chapter 15: The Long Night

Now, to heed that wisdom and find them before it is indeed too late.

Author's reply

Don't worry. They will go to find there friends. But there is one more delay yet to happen.... God Bless, FrodoB

Elanor Silmariën · 11 October 2006 · Chapter 15: The Long Night

Oh, Halmir is such a dear! There he is frightened out of his wits and still wanting to help and protect Frodo. And Anna's there! YAY! Please send Aragorn and them soon! God bless, Ellie

Author's reply

He is such a dear. Though I have to credit QG for making his character, and giving me this little sweety to work with. :) Yes, faithful Anna is there. And Aragorn is comeing soon! I think... GOd Bless, Frodo B

Queen Galadriel · 11 October 2006 · Chapter 15: The Long Night

I know I just reviewed, but I had to leave another one: Ooooooooooo! I'm sooo sooo sooo sooo excited about this!!! *dances* This is a thriller if ever there was one!!! :) God bless, Galadriel
