"I do not believe we have even begun to witness that of which they are capable."
Right he is! Hobbits are remarkable, especially our four heroes.
But five days without sleep? Wow! That I call remarkable, too!
Author's reply
Right he is! And that's why we'll be writing fanfic for years and years to come.
I hope Aragorn got a *few* hours' here and there! If you can't snooze in Rivendell, I don't know where you can.
:D
Author Reply: Ooops, I meant to say, a 'a few hours sleep'. *sigh* I think I need more sleep, too!

These two stories are so touching, Shirebound.
"There is something yet untested within these small beings," he continued thoughtfully. "I do not believe we have even begun to witness that of which they are capable."
If only Aragorn knew how correct he is and how painful the sacrifice will be when the end comes.
Author's reply
Oh thank you, Ami. It's nice to think that the true worth of "these small beings" was recognized by so many.

Awesome! "Something yet untested"...I like that--and very applicable to these special hobbits. Hmmm...have you written a tale that hints at the blood of Númenor in the hobbits? Now that would be something interesting to read. :-D

Author's reply
Now that *is* an interesting idea. I don't think the Professor ever explains the exact origin of the hobbits. *grins*

How utterly befitting & beautiful! It's just so ... so perfect to use the saved orc rags poor Frodo wore this way.
Author's reply
Thank you so much. I always wondered what happened to those ragged (yet very special) garments.

So very apt, as without the Hobbits in their Orc rags there would be no coronation.Very touching.
Author's reply
Thank you, Linda. I love imagining scenes like this one.

Oh, how wonderful! I have their clothing in the Hall of Memorial in crystal cases; but to keep the Winged Crown on the orc rags--how marvelous an idea, indeed remembering the sacrifice even of identity in the end!
Author's reply
Oh, thank you so much. Oooh, I like how you word that -- "the sacrifice even of identity". Indeed, it should never be forgotten.

Ah Shirebound, this was beautiful, and just what I needed today. Such a wonderful idea, to show everyone that the crown of Gondor rests upon the orc rags of the two who saved the world.
Thank you!
Author's reply
Thank you, BB. Hobbits must be honored! *looks insistent and stern*

Absolutely wonderful! Freedom is never free, this we know. A perfect canon Aragorn moment. TBC... really? please!
Author's reply
Thank you, demeter! I don't know if this particular scene will have a continuation (at the moment), but hopefully the teensy (unrelated) scenes to come will be enjoyable.

“As long as Gondor stands... as long as the West endures... you will never be forgotten, my friends.”
That was beautiful, Shirebound!
I'm quite sure you know that beautiful song the minstrel sang in Dreamflower's "Chance Encounter" about the hobbits' part in the quest: "Perhaps it was to humble us ...". And that's what Aragorn had in mind by displaying the crown on the orc rags, I think.
Thank you!
Author's reply
Thank *you*, Andrea. Yes, it never hurts to have a visual reminder of how a folk so small accomplished something so large.

Innocence lost...very poignant. The Orc rags will serve well to aid the Kings in always remembering the sacrifices made by one and all. Very beautiful.

Thank you, Pippinfan. It might take such humble rags to remind future kings of what was sacrificed.

Oh, *sniff, sniff, blindly reaches for hankie,* this is just, *sniff*, so beautiful Shirebound. It is so true that memory is much of who we are. I often curse that mine is so poor. Visual reminders are so very important.
Author's reply
They really are! So much can be forgotten if we don't have proof of an event right in front of our eyes.
