Grey Wonderer · 6 August 2006 · Chapter 24: Ever After
Beautifully done. So like Pippin to keep the little farm. I loved every word, Pearl. Merry made me laugh with his purposal to Estella. That was, as they say, the icing on the cake. Brilliant!

Grey Wonderer · 6 August 2006 · Chapter 23: A Ceremonious Day
A beautiful wedding! I enjoyed Sam's thoughts of Frodo as he performed the ceremony and I was near tears when Eglantine gave Pippin in marriage. As the mother of a son that rang true to me.
Bodkin · 1 August 2006 · Chapter 24: Ever After
Oh ... nice. Happy Peregrin and Diamond. Joyfully betrothed Merry and Estella. And Merry gone one better by asking her as someone else to wed another. It'll take her a while to get her head round that one. (Sorry to have missed commenting. I've been away.)
Author's reply
Quite all right, m'dear. Glad to have you back :) Yes, Estella had best get used to it. As long as Merry is best mates with Pippin odd, convoluted things will keep happening ;-) Thank you so much for staying with this and for writing responses!
PIppinfan1988 · 30 July 2006 · Chapter 24: Ever After
Wow....what a beautiful ending to a most beautiful story! Oh, I had lovely snicker with Merry's marriage proposal to Estella...or what is Peregrin's after-marriage proposal to Diamond? hehehe Either way, my dear, it was lovely! It was an exquisite story the first time, and even more so the second time round. I think you did an amazing job yourself in not straying much from the original tale--I usually succumb to the temptation. :-P I'm glad you didn't. Actually, I think you did well with enhancing it with the closet scene and such. Thank you for sharing! Pippinfan
Author's reply
Thank you so very much, Pippinfan :) I'm relieved and glad to know that you not only like it, but like it better than the orginal! You are so very welcome and thank you for staying with the story to the end and for responding.
Lindelea · 28 July 2006 · Chapter 24: Ever After
This is the last chapter? And here I am with no more reading time. Ah. Will save to savour. Hope to leave a "review" review later. *hugs*
Author's reply
I'll eagerly keep an eye out for it! Thank you, Lin.
Lindelea · 28 July 2006 · Chapter 23: A Ceremonious Day
Oh! I realised that I'd missed this chapter when the new chapter announcement took me to a post-wedding chapter! (I was sure you wouldn't have skipped such a momentous occasion. I do love the way you have with words. Such a load of happiness for one rather short day to carry. And then the touching tribute to Diamond's father, brought tears to my eyes. And the reaction was completely appropriate: There were some murmurs heard about the room and many looked at the small group of hobbit lasses that had huddled together when the ceremony began. Most of the girls within the group now shook their heads and moved away from Violet Boffin; no words against Pippin's marriage to Diamond would be spoken. And the wedding ceremony itself, and the vows that Pippin and Diamond exchanged: more happy tears. Seems that I always cry at weddings, even hobbity ones! MEWD, dear Pearl.
PIppinfan1988 · 27 July 2006 · Chapter 23: A Ceremonious Day
Whoa, baby! Those kisses at the end were the cherries on top of the cake! That was indeed a very beautiful ceremony! I thought the symbol behind the hand-holding was especially nice and well done on the non-customary exchange of fealty/promises. I had a wee chuckle when Pippin lay in his bed before rising, thinking of how his life would be changed in just a few hours. I thought this story was a bit longer, but you said you shortened it a bit--I hope there is still a little more to go! I have enjoyed this tale so much! Pippinfan
Author's reply
Thank you, m'dear Pippinfan! I'm glad your liked the ceremony and the kisses at the end ;) There is one more chapter to go. I did combine some of the earlier chapters and so the story is now 24 chapters long instead of 31, but its actual length is most likely close to the same in actual # of words and pages. Maybe longer as I don't remember removing any lengthy sections but I did add a few (Merry and Pippin in the linen closet and Merry teasing Pippin about being in the barn). Thank you for sticking with this and responding :)
EstellaB · 26 July 2006 · Chapter 23: A Ceremonious Day
:) You finally reached the wedding! This chapter was so...*hobbity* in every way! It seemed exactly as I picture a hobbity wedding. I'm really enjoying the rewrite, and it's just a shame that there are only one or two chapters left. Thankyou :)
Author's reply
Thank you! I'm glad you like the wedding and feel that it's hobbity :) Only one more chapter, sorry to say. Thank you so much, EstellaB, for staying with this and for leaving responses :)
PIppinfan1988 · 25 July 2006 · Chapter 22: Overheard
Oooooh! Good old Sam to the Rescue! Love his down-to-earth hobbit sense. Rosie has her own, too! This was just one more storm to bring the two lovebirds closer together. :-) The happiest days are just around the corner! Pippinfan
Author's reply
Indeed they are, Pippinfan :) Tolkien had Sam being the salt of the earth, my muse felt Rosie should be the same. Thank you so much for reading and responding :)
Lindelea · 25 July 2006 · Chapter 22: Overheard
O I am in haste and cannot quote all the bits I want. Although Lanti thoroughly approved of her daughters’ actions, it really was not something to be presented as proper behavior to such a little lass. This was priceless! And then Rosie's wisdom, and what she said about love being sharing the load. That's worth stitching on a sampler! And Pippin's graphic portrayal of his despair, and Sam's solution. He and Rosie certainly are well-matched. (And then Pippin's crack about Sam being Thain as well as Mayor, and Merry's rejoinder!) VWD!
Author's reply
Thank you, m'dear Lin! I'm glad there was so much here to your liking :) My muse was generous with this chapter. It is so kind of you to take time to read and respond, I know your time is limited these days. Thank you :)
Grey Wonderer · 24 July 2006 · Chapter 22: Overheard
I dearly love your Sam! He is my new hero. I want to know someone that knows the things Sam knows. He would have made a good Thain or a good Master but most of all he makes an excellent friend.
Author's reply
Thank you so much, GW! Wow, you have made my day :) We could all use a friend like Sam ;)
harrowcat · 24 July 2006 · Chapter 22: Overheard
What horrible things to happen this day but what a lovely description of love.
Author's reply
Thank you, harrowcat :) Persimmone is a mean wench alright!
PIppinfan1988 · 22 July 2006 · Chapter 21: A Special Wedding Gift
Awww! That indeed is a very special wedding gift! As far as I know, siblings have never been good at conveying their softer feelings for one another. I thought the book was a very creative idea for the Took Sisters to come up with. ;-) Sweet Pippin will be very well taken care of for a very long time. :-) Pippinfan
Author's reply
I know of siblings that once they are older get pretty good at being friends, and even affectionate, but yeah, they usually drive each other crazy :) Thank you so much, Pippinfan!
Grey Wonderer · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 21: A Special Wedding Gift
I love the idea of the wedding present. I do think most husbands should come with instructions. It's a grand idea all around.
Author's reply
Thank you :) That is one of life's problems, so little of it comes with a manual - although even when someone does write one, they often don't help all that much, we're too unpredictable, LOL Thank you for all your encouragement, GW :)
Grey Wonderer · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 20: A Knight in Smallclothes
That was entirely too funny! I loved every word of it. Merry was such a tease which is exactly what I would expect from Merry. I loved the fact that Paladin got in on it too with his line about the whip. Bravo yet again!
Author's reply
Thank you, thank you, GW! The scene with Merry was new and has gone over well, I'm glad to say. I couldn't let Merry have all the fun ;)
Lindelea · 21 July 2006 · Chapter 21: A Special Wedding Gift
From tears to laughter in the space of a page. Most masterfully done, my dear hobbit-chronicler.
Author's reply
*blushing* Thank you, Lin! I was needing find words today and you have supplied them. Thank you so very much :) :)
Bodkin · 20 July 2006 · Chapter 20: A Knight in Smallclothes
I love the idea of Merry and Paladin sitting there watching over Pippin and Diamond - chaperoning them as they sleep. And the morning teasing is well-deserved - Merry can't tease Diamond, so Pippin has to take it on the chin. It's probably a very good idea to go back to Bag End, but I reckon Eglantine is a hero to agree to it.
Author's reply
For some reason, folks just seem to feel they need to watch over Pippin ;) He has a wonderful father and a wonderful first cousin. I think it was very hard for Lanti to not have them with her, to not get to be in the thick of things as she would otherwise. But, in my Shire she's a healer and she would know it is for the best. Thank you again, Bodkin, for reading and your kind responses. They mean a lot to me :) :)
PIppinfan1988 · 20 July 2006 · Chapter 20: A Knight in Smallclothes
LOL!!! Go, Lanti! This chapter was particularly fantastic! I LOVED the teasing the Merry gave his Pippin! I didn't recall so much last time, but I thought it was beautifully done in this one. Pippin's reactaions to Merry's teasing was fabulous, and Merry acted all so naturally--I suppose he's had more experience at ribbing Pip, lol. The scene with Pippin and Diamond (just after the nose bleed, lol) was lovely. I think you can write romance extrememly well! Not too soppy, neither stiff. Exactly perfect. :-) Enjoyed it all! Pippinfan
Author's reply
Aw, thank you, Pippinfan! You know how important the kind words on my writing romance are to me :) :) The whole bit with Merry was new, there was none at all in the original version. I'm glad it fit well :)
AspenJules · 20 July 2006 · Chapter 9: At the Festival Ball
Oh, that was PRICELESS!! However much Pippin and his sisters might tease or torment each other, it does NOT pay for an outsider to tackle them! I loved Pervinca's gleeful counting to twenty each time, ROFL! And finally, dunking her rear end in the water and then marching her into the middle of the dance floor? No doubt in the minds of anyone there that she had gotten on the wrong side of the Took lasses, and no more than she deserved, the wretched little witch!
Author's reply
Thank you, AspenJules :) One oughtn't mess with the Tooks ;) I thoroughly enjoyed writing this bit, hehehe
AspenJules · 20 July 2006 · Chapter 8: A Festive Day
Uh oh! I don't know what I dread more... what Persimonne will try to do, or what Pippin will do to her when she tries it! Hoo boy - fireworks ahead!
Author's reply
The evil Persimmone gets what's comming to her, be assured of that! Thanks so much for responding, AspenJules!
AspenJules · 20 July 2006 · Chapter 7: Festival Bound
I love protective Merry dragging Pip into a closet to demand of him what he thinks he's doing. I can understand how disgusted he'd be that Pip was up to the same old things, fearing he'd be hurt again. Good for Pippin, though, pointing out how different she is, and how she acted. Rosie liking her really is a good thing, that Rosie is an uncommonly sensible lass. And what a thoughtful set of surprises Pip's arranged, with Rosie's help. Such a clever lad, our Pippin.
Author's reply
Merry does keep more than an eye on his cousin. Much as things seem just as quick to Merry, the relationship had a much better start this time. Rosie and Sam are peas in a pod, full of good hobbit sense :) Thank you, AspenJules!
AspenJules · 20 July 2006 · Chapter 6: Fun, Work, and Plans
Oh, and whatever *could* he have in mind for Diamond? She really should be aware of his reputation and be somewhat afraid, LOL. Sounds like he's gained some good accomplices in Topaz and Aster now, though, LOL!
Author's reply
Read on and find out ;)
AspenJules · 20 July 2006 · Chapter 6: Fun, Work, and Plans
Oh that wicked Pippin!! He did a wonderful job on those two girls, though, especially Aster, teaching her a good lesson before moving on to some not-so-good lessons, LOL (at least for the two younger brothers!) What a treat for them to learn from the master of pranks! I'm glad Isengrim is approving. It's fun to see how openly they discuss Pip's attraction to her. No game-playing here. Oh, and I really like your Pippin... he's masterful and vulnerable all at the same time. Oh, I'm liking this!
Author's reply
Thank you, AspenJules, for liking my Pippin :) :) You've made my day :) He's always willing to help out in anyway he can ;)
AspenJules · 20 July 2006 · Chapter 5: A Little Music
Awww, poor Diamond. What a rough time she's had, but what blessings it will pay off with. She's learned a lot about life already, enough that the flirting and silliness of the lasses is completely foreign to her, but which is exactly what Pippin will need in a wife. Seems like their relationship is well along already - I dread the idea that there will be some snags to slow it down some.
Author's reply
She'll be in good hands in time :) Pippin sure does need someone steady. Thank you, AspenJules :)
AspenJules · 20 July 2006 · Chapter 4: Being Well Cared For
Pearl, Great beginning! I'm loving this so far, though I felt so badly for Pippin when he got such a rude awakening from that horrid Persimonne witch. What a horrible thing to have to go through, and in front of all those people too! I could just feel for him, with his rage and his hurt and his embarassment. I'm glad that Merry understood him and what he was going through, but then Merry always does. I felt badly for Merry too, as his arm begins to hurt as Pip rides away. I'm glad Pippin thought to send him a quick post message. I had to chuckle at the giggles they all got trying to move Pippin to the bigger bed. Sounds like something my family would have done. We were always collapsing into giggles at the most inappropriate times. I'm glad I found this story. It looks to be a great way to pass a sleepless night.
Author's reply
Hi, AspenJules! I'm glad you found this story as well :) Yes, there's a rough start, some rough patches, but some others fun parts as well. I hope you continue to enjoy :)
