Yes, a stubborn Baggins he is. Do find this one a bit confusing, perhaps, but understand about the confusion between dreams and reality. It's why Elrond determines Frodo is stubborn I don't quite get. But I do love the iamge of Frodo trying to sort it out in his mind and recognizing he'd best beware the voices of Sauron's folks.
Author's reply
Yes, dreams can be so confusing! I've dreamed that Aragorn was shaking me to wake up (I was Frodo) but I was in my modern day room in my bed! And he was telling me we had to go because the orcs were coming! LOL! :)
Actually... You know, that's the funny thing about writing. Sometimes something can just sound perfect in your head, but on paper it doesn't work. I had had it perfect why he was stubborn, but I forgot and had to try to make something up. I am sincerely sorry for the confusion.
Hannon le for your faithful reviewing!

Very interesting and rather scary, scary because I could him experiencing this and the voices seeming to promise one thing but actually meaning another but good that Sam and Elrond are there to help him sort things out. "You hang between the two." And now you can't leave us hanging too! This must continue!
Namarie, God bless, Melinyel, Antane :)
Author's reply
Hannon le! Yes, I imagine it would be scary. Well, I know it's scary when you hear different "voices" and don't know what you're supposed to do or where to go. I always thought that Frodo would be sort of semiconcious at times, like he could hear some things going on around him.
Uh...continue? Well...it was purely the product of a momnet of inspiration. You think I should continue? I'll see what I can do for you. :)

Wow. My poem inspired that? Wow...:) You conveyed the dreamlike quality very well; it seemed that in some ways Frodo was semiconscious, dream and waking mingling. And I had to laugh at the end!
God bless,

Author's reply
*smiling* It did indeed, milady. :) Yes, I always thought that he would be semiconcious, a foot in both worlds, you might say. Did it seem too cliche? I was worried about that. But then I was just posting for the fun of it. :) I thought you would like the end. :) "That's Mr. Frodo!" But the problem was remembering what I had originally had Frodo be stubborn about. LOL!

Yes, people like that are hard to come by. I was sad to kill her, but as Frodo never married in the book, I had to. I felt bad for Frodo. :( Frodo found his true love, and none can take her place, even when she is not phyically there. They will be reunited

In the book Pippin sings this song. It is part of a walking song that's a good deal more cheerful in context than it comes out in the film. But the interweaving of the movie version with Pippin's memories is beautiful.
Author's reply
Yes, Pippin sings this song. The one I used was the movie version because it is more wistful and I love that song. I sing it to my little brother when he can't sleep. :) It has a lovely tune. Hannon le for the review! Namarie!

Author's reply
Hannon le. I was just inspired to write this. I know why, but I won't post my reasons on the internet. Aragorn should consider himself lucky Frodo told him of that. I know that Frodo would have made an excellent father. I have always wanted to explore that avenue. Maybe I will; after all, Lily is AU, and I could "resurrect" her...I don't know. I've got too much on my plate right now to think that far ahead. But she will make her appearence in FOTR. :) Namarie!

Btw-Harrowcat... I don't know who found the words, but I found them in part of a poem in HoME, and I think it made it to the actual book, as a poem in FOTR while Sam Frodo and Pippin are walking to Crickhollow. Just thought that was interesting.
Author's reply
I know this was addressed to Harrowcat, but I found it intriquing as well. I looked it up in the book. YEs, it was written by Tolkein (Bilbo in the story) and sung by Frodo ( I think), but Billy Boyd or Howard Shore or both redid the words and invented the tune. SO my credits still stand, since I used the movie version. Thanks for the info! Namarie!

Oh, Hannon le!! I'm glad this is going over so well. I have this...hm, nerdy? obsession with loving to write tear jerkers and angst! Oh...LOL! Oh, you've got me crying so hard I can hardly type. The way you did this is what got me.
"Home is behind
"Frodo?"
The world ahead
"Yes, Pip?"
And there are many paths to tread
"That's a sad song."
Through shadow
"Yes, it is."
To the edge of night
"Why do you sing it?"
Until the stars are all alight
"Pippin! You *can't* go!"
Mist and Shadow
"I won't stay behind!"
Cloud and shade
"You don't know what pursues me! I can't let you!"
All shall fade
"That will never change the fact that I love you and can't let you go alone."
All shall fade,"*
"Oh, Pip."
*sob* Oh, that is so poignant, and so like what happens in our memories. But now you've got me thinking: "Why *does* Frodo sing it?" Perhaps his mum sang it to him one stormy night, hmmm? I think you've fed a plot bunny! *wipes eyes and goes to attend to the little creature*
God bless,
Galadriel
Author's reply
Well, my dear, I can tell you this much: *I* know why Frodo sings the song. *mischeivous, knowing grin* But I think I'll write that into Forging of the Ringbearer. Hannon le for such a wonderful review! I'm amazed. ALready like five reviews or something, and I only posted it this morning! It's amazing what can come from mowing the lawn, no? That and staying up late. But you did get how his memories jumped forward in time? I mean...I had hoped that it wasn't confusing. This is so sad but lovely. I seem to remember from the loads of stuff on the Extended DVD that Billy Boyd came up with the words for this himself. Or was it the Fran gave the words and Billy made up the tune?. Oh darnit...now I will have to go and watch it all over again to find out. What a chore!! *g*

*shrieks and rolls with laughter* Oh, oh, you are so funny! I can hardly type, and you've got me in tears...of laughter. Oh, that's hilarious, and all the more so because I know what *really* happened. It's so ironic that you've done this, though because, well, you'll have to wait and see. I do have one objection though. *Ahem* Sam did *not* give up that easily! Frodo had to hold him down for like five minutes, and there was a very short wrestling match involved, was there not? LOL! But that's okay. Excellent rendering of this unforgettable...event!

Awww, this is sweet. Dear Frodo, half shy, half eager to go on adventures! :) How like one of his age and disposition! I like how you did this moment from both POVs.
I can see your writing improving, even since your first story, and I can already tell you that you are one of the very gifted authors on this site. There is just something about your writing, a depth, a realness, if you will, that I can't describe. You have that in common with Larner and a very few others, though of course each style is different. Thanks so much for posting here and letting us ordinary writers enjoy it! :) I'm teasing, but I'm serious about being gifted.
