What a lovely chapter

So Merry's that kind of drunk.

Rhapsody · 27 October 2006 · Chapter 8: PART EIGHT: Mother's love

Oh Anso! What a fantastic story so far. I love your descriptions of Merry's wandering in the desert and his giving into the darkness - slowly -. This is just great writing. It's filled with angst, friendship, family love and the family members and friends of the Brandybucks really come to life for me in this piece. But, well I am curious what will happen next... especially when you are leaving us with such a line!

Hi! Thank you for such an encouraging and wonderful review. I think I have a bit more of the story lying around but I haven't finished it (and I don't know when that will be). I shall put the remaining story up now if I can find it. It won't give you all answers but it will provide an answer to the ending of this chapter though. ;)

Andrea · 22 August 2006 · Chapter 8: PART EIGHT: Mother's love

He looked at her searchingly. “Mum! You are in pain. What are you doing here?” Esmeralda shook her head. If anyone in her family was perceptive, it was her Merry. That is true! Merry is the most perceptive person, I've ever known. Well, I did not really knew him, but I would have liked it ;-) That was a wonderful moment of peace and quiet between mother and son. I'm really glad that the Shadow is gone, I would like to say "for ever", but I'm not so sure if this was the last battle. “Lads,” Saradoc said gravely, looking each ot them in the eye. “We have a problem.” That doesn't sound good! What could have happened? Please update soon!

harrowcat · 22 August 2006 · Chapter 8: PART EIGHT: Mother's love

Oh I am so glad that Merry is better and has made that promise to Pippin. “Lads,” Saradoc said gravely, looking each ot them in the eye. “We have a problem. Anso's internet conncetion is being very tenuous and she isn't able to post our story as often as she would like. This means her loyal readers are fretting about her, and all of the rest of us too. What can we do to help?” *Harrowcat grins sympathetically and slinks back into the virtual woodwork quietly with tongue in cheek!*

Grey Wonderer · 20 August 2006 · Chapter 8: PART EIGHT: Mother's love

I enjoyed Esmeralda's thoughts as she waited for Merry to wake up. I also liked the way she insisted on sitting with him in spite of her own injury. Great chapter but now you have me wondering what trouble is in store for everyone at this point? What a cliff-hanger!

Grey Wonderer · 20 August 2006 · Chapter 7: Part seven: Chasing Away the Darkness

I was very relieved to see Merry was awake again even if he still seems to have a lot of recovering to do. I liked the way the scent of the food helped bring him back. So very hobbity! Now, I wonder how long it will take him to get completely back to his old self?

Grey Wonderer · 20 August 2006 · Chapter 6: PART SIX: Explanations

Pippin certainly had a great deal to explain and in a very short time. I do hope Frodo receives word of this and comes as fast as he can. It looks as if Merry will need both of his cousins and his parents to get through this time!

Larner · 18 August 2006 · Chapter 8: PART EIGHT: Mother's love

Oh, dear, another problem? Just when things are finally looking up? Oh, dear.

Larner · 18 August 2006 · Chapter 7: Part seven: Chasing Away the Darkness

Safe to wake, now. Poor Merry, caught with the pain of his own memories, recognizing Frodo's headed into his own as well, but remaining in Buckland to be by his mother when he'd wish to be able to be by Frodo's side for his time of need.

Larner · 18 August 2006 · Chapter 6: PART SIX: Explanations

Finally able to catch up a bit. Poor Merry, caught indeed in the memories of a year past. Now to call him out of it.

Dreamflower · 18 August 2006 · Chapter 8: PART EIGHT: Mother's love

Oh my. It was going so splendidly up until that last sentence! I love your Esme. She is such a warm, loving and supportive mother, and her thoughts and tenderness for her son are shown so beautifully. I also love the encounter with Pippin. That is one of the things I like the most about your stories, Anso, is all the love and heart they show. Even through sorrow and angst there is joy and comfort underneath, because all know they are loved and valued.

EstellaB · 9 May 2006 · Chapter 7: Part seven: Chasing Away the Darkness

This is really goo, so far :) Please continue

PIppinfan1988 · 7 May 2006 · Chapter 7: Part seven: Chasing Away the Darkness

Good old Pippin watching over his beloved Merry. I so love dream scenes! The desert and inner thoughts are limitless. Very good! Pippinfan

PIppinfan1988 · 30 April 2006 · Chapter 6: PART SIX: Explanations

So many people are helping our Merry--how wonderful! I'd like to read more of his dream sequence...lol, I rather like them. I'm odd in that way. Pippinfan

PIppinfan1988 · 29 April 2006 · Chapter 5: PART FIVË: Delayed

Wow...poor Merry! Poor Esmeralda...! Merry's succumbing to the darkness is going to be interesting. I'm looking forward to more of that (I sound sadistic, don't I?). Mmmm! Those Sun Buns sound delicious! :-) Pippinfan

Periantari · 24 April 2006 · Chapter 7: Part seven: Chasing Away the Darkness

Oh i do wish there will be more! i love your h/c--glad that Merry is back... :) I love Pippin's concern and Saradoc for being so strong for Pippin as well. I thought (in my little version of things...) there would be more angst before Merry is saved. :) But i liked this a lot too. And also--will we hear from Frodo? Since Pippin did send out a letter to him about Esme's condition and such. I hope there will be more. :)

Author's reply

This is not the end, by all means. And don't worry, there will be angst. Lots of it too if the muse cooperates. :D

PIppinfan1988 · 24 April 2006 · Chapter 4: PART FOUR: Frodo's Letter

It was nice to see Merry getting out and about at the Inn. You're right--I don't think Merry's family will ever stop worrying about him. ;-) It's a fact that he must live with. I'm looking forward to them visiting Frodo--that is, if Aunt Esme isn't too bad off. This is going excellently--I'll be back for more! Pippinfan

Author's reply

Thank you! :D I am glad you are enjoying it. There is much more to come.

Dreamflower · 24 April 2006 · Chapter 7: Part seven: Chasing Away the Darkness

Aww...hopefully this first bout will soon be past for our Merry, and he can once more be his cheerful self! Pippin, Sara and Esme have taken such good care of him! And perhaps by the following year, Pippin will have gotten some athelas from Aragorn to help!

Author's reply

They do take good care of our lad, don't they? There is yet much more to come so more care will be given and recieved of course.

Periantari · 16 April 2006 · Chapter 6: PART SIX: Explanations

I was so excited to come back to this tonight after work and i'm glad to be pleasantly surprised that there was more that wasn't included in the first posting. :) ooo things get interesting indeed! Poor Merry--i hope he gets "found" soon. :) I hope that Esme will not be overburdened with knowing that his son is afflicted by Shadow--seems like both mother and son have to get better soon. During the last chapter i was afraid for Esme because her heart had just been through a lot too. :p Dear Pippin--indeed when he was writing the letter to Frodo he has to be careful of what he says. I love responsible and caring Pippin in this. :) can't wait for more. :)

SlightlyTookish · 16 April 2006 · Chapter 6: PART SIX: Explanations

It's good to see Saradoc and Esmeralda getting involved with healing their son. And I love seeing a mature and knowlegdable Pippin :)

Grey Wonderer · 12 April 2006 · Chapter 5: PART FIVË: Delayed

How will Merry manage to get through this? Poor Esmeralda! I do hope that she is all right but just now I am wondering why Merry isn't reacting to his mum's coming awake. I think Pippin and Saradoc are about to have their hands full in a very big way. I only hope the shock doesn't harm Esmeralda more.

Author's reply

Pippin and Saradoc are definitely having their hands full now. :)
