Mum's the Word · 11 September 2006 · Chapter 9: The Gift

Antane, this is simply wonderful -- a beautiful tribute! In your opening paragraphs I could see both NYC residents and Minas Tirith residents. But many of the rescues were successful and the tears were of joy and the embraces tight and long... We mustn't forget this amazing truth, thanks to rescue workers and the hand of Providence! Their homes were in ruins, but not their hearts... So uplifting! Some rushed in again and again, some survived to see that end of that day, some did not. All were praised by the king afterwards and all remembered in a memorial built later. Such wonderful parallels you've drawn! I think the extraordinary part of it all was that they were all ordinary. Thank you for this encouraging story, and thank God for the courage and caring displayed that fateful day. Blessings, Mum

Author's reply

Thank *you* for such kind words! People wonder why God was that day - He was right there. We were indeed brought to our knees that day, in prayer. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

vampfan30 · 11 September 2006 · Chapter 9: The Gift

I can only repeat what your other reviews have already said - it's very fitting......

Author's reply

Thank you! The struggle goes on even now and it is the same one. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Dreamflower · 11 September 2006 · Chapter 9: The Gift

Beautiful! Well said, my dear!

Author's reply

Thank you so much, Dreamflower! Your praise means a lot to me! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Larner · 11 September 2006 · Chapter 4: Father's Day

Oh, indeed sometimes the light needs the darkness to showcase it to its best. Frodo and Stinger--what a ring to that!

Larner · 11 September 2006 · Chapter 5: Broken Wings

Yes, the question answered, the rest granted, the peace again bestowed, the joy and freedom found again. I think among your best.

Author's reply

Thank you so much, Larner! And for all those other kind words you have showered with me with today! (And please do a sequel to Requesting Mercy as someone requested - putting the knife away, big hobbity hugs and tears and all that good stuff, and an apology from Frodo for putting his Sam in such a terrible spot! Your reply to my review is way too chilling to think about. :( I did wonder who would be Ring-bearer if not the one who had been appointed). Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Larner · 11 September 2006 · Chapter 6: Heart of Darkness

Very beautiful, Antane. Very moving indeed.

Larner · 11 September 2006 · Chapter 7: Welcome Back, Sam!

Very nice moment, with Sam coming home from his trial with Uncle Andy. Lovely!

Larner · 11 September 2006 · Chapter 8: Obituary

Now, this is one obituary I'd not thought to read. Very nicely done, I think--very proper to newspapers everywhere. Heh!

Queen Galadriel · 11 September 2006 · Chapter 9: The Gift

Oh, Antane, it's beautiful! It's just perfect for 9/11! Yes, all heroes start as just a face in a crowd. I'll bet few of those who fought the fires, in Minas Tirith or America, thought they'd live to see such devistation, and some probably doubted they'd be brave enough to face it if they did. But look now. They should and will be remembered with admiration. God bless, Galadriel P.S. The usual email address is working again! I tried to reply to you last night, but the computer ate it, so will have to rewrite.

Author's reply

Hantanyel, ammelda! I was listening more to the radio program today and more than ever realized we are in the same story our dear ones and those before them were in, fighting the same battle. (Glad to email is working again - I hate when messages disappear into nothingness - I've learned to copy the message first and then if and when it does disappear, I can just paste it into another message. It's saved me more than once.) Namarie, God bless, Melinyel, Antane :)

shirebound · 11 September 2006 · Chapter 9: The Gift

the extraordinary part of it all was that they were all ordinary.” This is a delightful exchange, and a very fitting tribute.

Author's reply

Hannon le, shirebound! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

harrowcat · 11 September 2006 · Chapter 9: The Gift

I suppose that really the one person that could be called least ordinary is Aragorn himself. That he has grown up in such a way that he could appear so ordinary as to fade into the background and yet empathise with all his people is extraordinary indeed.

Author's reply

God provides us with many extraordinary ordinary people, those He calls into the frontlines of battle as well as us who toil in the trenches. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Telpethoron · 11 September 2006 · Chapter 9: The Gift

This was indeed a fitting tribute, Antane - and a fine example of how ordinary people can rise to extraordinary circumstances. Well done!

Author's reply

Thank you so much! I so appreciate your praise! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Queen Galadriel · 28 August 2006 · Chapter 8: Obituary

Just wanted to tell you I like what you added to this! Makes it look more real, somehow. That would really be an interesting project to try-I don't know if I could do it. :) God bless, Galadriel P.S. So glad you got my e-mail! Maybe we'll get this figured out yet. From what you said it sounds like my server is just being whacked out.

Elanor Silmariën · 28 August 2006 · Chapter 7: Welcome Back, Sam!

*giggle* Blueberry! Yum. I love how excited they were to see each other, and how Sam wanted to be as tall as Frodo someday! God bless, Ellie

Elanor Silmariën · 28 August 2006 · Chapter 6: Heart of Darkness

That sounded exactly like Frodo! Very well done! God bless, Ellie

Author's reply

Well, thank you, my dear! I do try. :) And thanks for all your other kind words about the other anthology stories! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Armariel · 26 August 2006 · Chapter 8: Obituary

Ah, a double obituary--very fitting! (rather like a double grave, what?) Sweet! ~~~{~@

Author's reply

Double obituary or single? Wasn't I really speaking of one person? :) Thanks for enjoying. It's certainly the strangest thing I ever wrote and I kept debating whether to even post it but then I get all these nice reviews! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

cookiefleck · 26 August 2006 · Chapter 8: Obituary

Sad, but fitting. This was especially poignant: "The Ring-bearer’s heart stopped first as he rested in the arms of his servant and best friend, then did Lord Samwise's."

Author's reply

Thank you! Where else would Frodo and Sam have died but in each other's arms? Or so I hope it was. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane

harrowcat · 25 August 2006 · Chapter 8: Obituary

I don't know why but this made me grin Antane. Happy trip!

Larner · 25 August 2006 · Chapter 2: Realization

And in the end the sadness did become joy.

Larner · 24 August 2006 · Chapter 1: A King's Thanks

I'm a bit surprised Merry sleeps with Pippin, but beautiful thoughts for all of them.

Author's reply

I was taken aback too when I first started reading fanfic and encountered Merry calling Pippin 'dearest' and Pippin asking Merry if he could sleep with him, but then I realized the beauty and innocence of hobbity love. MerryandPippin I think are even closer than FrodoandSam. Glad you enjoyed! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Elanor Silmariën · 24 August 2006 · Chapter 8: Obituary

*teehee* *cough* I mean, oh, how sad!! God bless, Ellie

Queen Galadriel · 24 August 2006 · Chapter 8: Obituary

Well, it's kinda sad, but realistic, I think. And really it's not *that* sad, if one thinks how supremely happy they are now, Frodo with his parents and Sam with his Rosie, and of course both reunited with Merry and Pippin and others they loved. I like Gandalf's words, too! BTW, I haven't forgotten about you, it's just crazy here what with school starting tomorrow. So guess I should stop procrastinating and make sure everything's ready. *sigh* God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

Gandalf's words were the only reason I even posted this. I didn't like it otherwise, but I've added some to it since you read so I like it better now. Namarie, ammelda, God bless, Melinyel P.S. I got messages back from my usual e-mail that it tried to talk to your server but couldn't and the mail was refused - I hope that makes more sense to you than it did to me! :)

Queen Galadriel · 7 August 2006 · Chapter 7: Welcome Back, Sam!

Oh, Antane, thank you! This is precious! Blueberry tarts...mmmmm! Wait till you hear my near disaster with a blueberry pie! LOL! This is the perfect sweet, happy reunion, and it makes me more excited than ever to begin having my own. I'm tired of saying good-bye, and don't think I have any more tears; for I did meet people in CO that I've come to love dearly. Today I said farewell to the church and the little group of Christians who so lovingly took me beneath their wings, so this was a very timely read. Brought a smile to my face. Hantanyel, ammelda! Melinyel! (Is that right? I've tried not to forget.) God bless, Galadriel

Queen Galadriel--who is on the way home! · 7 August 2006 · Chapter 6: Heart of Darkness

Oh, wow. Angsty! But also beautiful. I'm so glad he reached for that hand. Now I'm going to cheat and read your wonderful-looking welcome present before I'm even all the way back, if I may! *Hee hee!* *Grins* God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

Hantanyel, ammelda! Glad you enjoyed and that welcome back story. Thanks for your 'well I'm back' story too! Poor Sam, remembering having to kill... Namarie, God bless, Melinyel, Antane :)

harrowcat · 6 August 2006 · Chapter 7: Welcome Back, Sam!

I wish someone had been here to welcome me back with tarts and, a nice hot pot of tea. *sigh* Oh well, at least my landlady opened the windows for me and I have had a nice long read! 44 chapter alerts later.....
