I love it! I'd forgotten I'd recently read your story about the battle of 5 armies where Leggy got hurt... loved to see him talk about that! Great story again, sheraiah! :D
Larner · 23 April 2005 · Chapter 7: Of Pipes and Elves
This is true friendship, caring for people as they are, seeing them gifted with what they need, even if it offends us in some small way.
Larner · 23 April 2005 · Chapter 6: Morning in Lothlorien
Lovely look at my favorite Elf and Dwarf--and soon-to-be King.
Larner · 23 April 2005 · Chapter 5: Interlude in Lothlorien
My own perception of Legolas was, as he remembered the last wandering of the Ents, was that he was at least an age old, perhaps almost two. But I love seeing him and Gimli making peace.
Larner · 23 April 2005 · Chapter 4: Forging Friendships
Ah, bested one of the twins, did he? Excellently written, good use of words.
Daynawayna · 19 April 2005 · Chapter 3: At Erebor
they just get better and better, sheraiah! I haven't read your bio yet, but I'm sensing a Leoglas theme here... very nice, indeed! :) I like that Bilbo gets to meet/talk to Legolas well before the Fellowship ever comes into being.
Daynawayna · 19 April 2005 · Chapter 2: Afternoon in Imladris
another gem! I really like how you characterize Aragorn, Legolas and the twins relationship with each other. Very clever! I was bemused at Legolas sticking out his tongue; not something I would have thought he'd do, but here it works. It's like you saw the Imp he was hiding in PJ's movies and brought him out to play for us. I'm really enjoying these! :)
Daynawayna · 19 April 2005 · Chapter 1: A Night in Lorien
"Cut him down from another tree"!?!? OMG that's PRICELESS, Sheraiah! LOL!! That has got to be my favorite line in the story! Wonderful piece, my dear. Love the banter between 'old friends' and the digs... yikes! You made me laugh, thank you! :)
Bodkin · 19 April 2005 · Chapter 7: Of Pipes and Elves
This is lovely. Legolas's desire to give Gimli something he has made for him - even if it is for the vile pipeweed - is such a good indication of their new relationship. And his aunt's acknowledgement that he is grown up and a warrior and that, although she knows it, she still worries is lovely. I enjoyed watching her go to Gimli to ask him to watch the ellon's back (especially as her little ellon is at least twice Gimli's age), and enjoyed his response both to her and her request. If he had stayed much longer in Lothlorien he would have definitely ended up an honorary elf.
Tinnuial · 19 April 2005 · Chapter 7: Of Pipes and Elves
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW wasn't that just so sweet of Legolas... I can just see him all excited about giving Gimli the pipe. Nimendis is a lovely aunt....if a little overprotective hehe....though who wouldn't be around that adorable elfling we all love so well ;) It's nice to see this lighthearted, youthful side to Legolas. Afterall, even elves were young once!!! It's an interesting relationship dynamic, to have Legolas perceived as "younger" than Aragorn and Gimli. So often, Legolas is portayed as millenia older in fanfiction, though I feel the books don't really give that impression of him. Young Legolas is just so much more engaging! Anyhow...I love what you've done here...these little vignettes are amongst my favourites!!
elliska · 19 April 2005 · Chapter 7: Of Pipes and Elves
Legolas's aunt asking Gimli to look after Legolas was very sweet, as was Legolas's gift for him. I love how you are portraying the relationships of all these people! Great job.
Bodkin · 9 April 2005 · Chapter 6: Morning in Lothlorien
Shockingly young. Only a mere half a millennium. It's no wonder his aunt wants to tuck him up in the nursery. I love watching the relationship between Legolas and Gimli build into a king of mutually protective friendship. And naughty Pippin - fancy eating the elf's food . . . though if he offers it and you're a hungry hobbit, what else can he expect? I do like these glimpses. More soon? (How's Hidden Agenda coming along? Looking forward to more of that, too.)
elliska · 7 April 2005 · Chapter 5: Interlude in Lothlorien
Wow! Now this one I had never read before. I love stories about Gimli and Legolas working out their friendship together. I loved this conversation. So personal and sweet. I imagine this was their first real talk. Great job!
elliska · 7 April 2005 · Chapter 4: Forging Friendships
Of all of these, this one has always been my favorite (I still can't believe I've never reviewed them). I like the idea of the people in the Fellowship spending time together in Rivendell. I love the conflict here--it was so well done. “What little I understood, I will not repeat.” Too funny! And I have always enjoyed the idea that Pippin is only then learning who exaxtly Legolas is. That was a cool idea. I really love this one.
elliska · 7 April 2005 · Chapter 3: At Erebor
Wonderful! Of course I thoroughly believe Legolas was in the Battle of the Five Armies and it is very realistic that he would have been injured. One of my favorite stories is Of a Father and Son and this reminds me of that story (Thranduil's jealous care of his injured son). And I like the interaction with Gandalf and Bilbo's apraisal of Legolas at the end. These are so well done.
elliska · 7 April 2005 · Chapter 2: Afternoon in Imladris
I'm sure I've read this before too. I can't believe I didn't leave reviews. I enjoy the idea that Bilbo told Legolas about the escape from the caverns. :) And the rest of the banter between the twins, the hobbits and Legolas was wonderfully done. But I love the end--I wish we could see that archery contest too!
elliska · 7 April 2005 · Chapter 1: A Night in Lorien
Thought I would look at the rest of these. I've read this one somewhere before. Funny discussion. I love the Desk Boy reference (I've read that story too) and the implication of the last line. :)
elliska · 7 April 2005 · Chapter 6: Morning in Lothlorien
Oh I liked this conversation. I like views on Legolas and Gimli's friendship. I especially liked, That lad needs a keeper, more so than even Pippin I’d say. I bet Legolas would have been floored by that comment! :) Very nicely done.
Dreamflower · 25 January 2005 · Chapter 5: Interlude in Lothlorien
I always love Fellowship stories. These are lovely, each one standing alone, yet building a cumulative effect. I like the slow understanding developing between Gimli and Legolas, and I have always been intrigued by the fanon theory that Aragorn and Legolas were friends before the Council. I must say I really loved the story in which Pippin went to comfort Legolas. I can see that your primary interest seems to be Elves, but you have the hobbits down very well indeed. This is also the first story I've read in which Legolas and Bilbo were previous friends. I look forward to seeing a few more of these.
Bodkin · 25 January 2005 · Chapter 5: Interlude in Lothlorien
I love the sensitive and intelligent Gimli and his budding friendship with the young Legolas. And Legolas's protective aunt is interesting. I'm not surprised he was willing to run off with the Fellowship to get a bit of space. Makes his decision to go a lot more understandable!
Ophium · 29 May 2004 · Chapter 4: Forging Friendships
:) I had a few good laughs with some parts of this wonderful glimpses that you've wrote. Legolas, the ladies man...er... elf? Lol they're all very sweet, hope to see you writting more of these ;)
webster · 7 April 2004 · Chapter 4: Forging Friendships
I've been reading or reareading all of your fics lately and I just want to say how impressed I am. You pull off angst and humor with equal skill, and the "Desk Boy" thread that runs through the friendship of Legolas and Aragorn over the decades is a perfect touch. Thanks for sharing.
Jay of Lasgalen · 3 April 2004 · Chapter 4: Forging Friendships
Legolas makes so little of his title I have often wondered how long it took the rest of the fellowship to realise that the Elvenking was in fact his father if they missed Elrond's introduction. Legolas's fears and worries for his father and realm are well described - it must have been a hard decision to make, to go with the fellowship, and not fight against Dol Guldur.
Jay of Lasgalen · 3 April 2004 · Chapter 3: At Erebor
Stories based around The Hobbit seem to be few and far between, so I like to see Legolas at the Battle of Five Armies. It seems inevitable that he was there. Thranduil's worry and concern is well written - I love to see father/son scenes like this.
