· Chapter 6: May the best man win
The chapter title was clever. Methinks this is the only story where I enjoyed the female archery scenes.
The last scene was very, very enjoyable for me, their "epithets" for each other were very funny since I have a very good idea what's going to happen in the end. (wink wink)
Author's reply
Yes, I had to be careful not to turn her into a Mary Sue over the archery. But she really wins because of a stroke of luck (or fate) and knows it. And now at least they both know that the other one has a temper!

· Chapter 5: Legolas makes a bet
I'm more of an elf fan girl but thanks to you and Lady Bluejay, have "extended" to the Second Born as well (just Eomer and Lothy) so the presence of Legolas here is most welcome. Your stories are the equivalent of comfort food: sweet and romantic and addicting.
My favorite lines here are: the other "users" of Eomer's ointment for bruises, her line of "you seem to have that effect on people", the tent scene (loved the tension!), and last but not the least, Legolas' "motives" and how he acted on them.
Author's reply
I have always seen Legolas and Gimli as great friends of Eomer and thought they might have a bit of a teasing relationship - or anyway that's fun to write. And of course he got off on the wrong foot with them as well!
And I love to hear that my stories are addictive ;-)

· Chapter 4: Love at first sight
The lines you write for Eomer and Lothy remind me of a romantic comedy/date movie and at the same time they serve as clues of what is to come. I also find myself looking for hints in your chapter titles.
The hopeless romantic in me is always in "squee" mode as a result of your clever writing. I especially loved the line of Hilarion: "I have found you a groom," her sarcastic suggestion to him to always wear a crown and his reason for not doing so, and their mumakil discussion.
Author's reply
Well, this chapter title was of course deliberately misleading, although it does contain a kernel of truth as well. And once the mumakil had got into this story they kept popping up all over the place!

· Chapter 3: A meeting on a moonlit night
Loved the "first meeting" scene! Honestly you never run of great ideas! This one is the most "physical" yet, poor Eomer!
Looking as beautifully Elvish as Arwen is how I picture Lothy in my mind and it's nice to see it here. Eomer's exit and the fact that he was able to withhold his identity from her until the last possible moment was so priceless! Had me laughing aloud--p

I really enjoyed writing this meeting, the way the balance of power shifts between them constantly. Eomer had the last laugh in this one of course. On the other hand Lothiriel got what she wanted!

· Chapter 2: Collision course
Lothy's little adventure here was most enjoyable. Loved the way how you set it up that they would be at each other's throats from the very onset (even if they have not met each other yet.) Lothy's meeting with Firefoot was a major "sign" for me and appreciate how you include intersting terms/details about handling horses, etc (even if I couldn't ride horses to save my life).
I just wish that your stories could be converted to a movie or book--I'm sure the scenes/pictures would be fabulous! But alas I'd have to make do with my imagination.
Author's reply
Hello Whitewave,
I used to ride when I was younger, but now I would probably be lucky just to stay on. Good to hear I can make it sound convincing, though! And you are of course absolutely right that Lothiriel making it past Firefoot unscathed is a sort of sign - only Eomer ignores it for the moment.
When I write my stories I do see them as a kind of movie in my mind. It's a shame they cannot converted directly, I always feel that I lose something when I write it down.

· Chapter 1: Head of the Family
I can't choose my favorite among your and Lady Bluejay's so I decided to review all of them. For this one, the title was most arresting. I like all of Lothy's brothers and appreciate the different personalities you give them in your different stories. I don't like Elphir very much here, he reminds me of Percy Weasley.
Author's reply
Hello Whitewave,
wow! My eyes nearly popped this morning when I saw all the reviews you'd left me. Thank you very much! This is the first story I ever wrote - I can't remember where I got the idea for the title, I think my subconscious just came up with it and I liked it. And poor Elphir got such a sad role in this one that I decided to make him nice in the next one. He provides a nice bit of entertainment, though.

I read this after I found your current story, and I loved it as well. Elphir made me want to slap him, and Imrahil had his moments too. I laughed out loud when Lothiriel shot an arrow into the roof of Meduseld. Wonderful!
Author's reply
Hello Ponypetter,
Well, Elphir certainly made himself rather unpopular in this story. At the end I felt so sorry for him that I made him more likeable in my current one - although I did saddle him with an awful wife.
And Eomer has acquired a much more relaxed attitude towards Lothiriel's archery skills now, hasn't he. Maybe it's because she now wins tankards of ale FOR him, rather than FROM him ;-)
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!

Hello Estelle,
I'm pleased to hear the story kept you amused. I had a lot of fun writing it and I think that shows. Although when I read it now, I see lots of room for improvement, I still like it a lot and I intend to write a sequel about these two one day (maybe when I'm finished with my current project, another Eomer/Lothiriel scenario).
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. It's nice to still get feedback after all this time!

I just finished reading this and really enjoyed your story. Thank you for sharing your talent. Eomer and Lothiriel are two of my favorite characters and Tolkien left so much unspoken for us. I really enjoyed the Archery tournament, and the agreement Lothiriel and Eomer came to regarding her training. Another favorite scene is the wedding hall with Legolas and Lothiriel and her new bow. I could see it play out in my mind, it made me laugh. You truly are a gifted story teller. Thank you
I have added you to my list of favorite authors.
Author's reply
Hello Adamas,
For some reason, Eomer was always my favourite character, right from the first time I read the books, and I got rather annoyed with Peter Jackson for minimising his role in the films so much - which was really what got me started on this story and now I just seem to be stuck with them.
That scene with the new bow of course looks back to the archery tournament and I thought it would show just how much their relationship has changed since then.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review!

And this is it!
I have to say that I love the all story. Since december of the last year I'm following each chapter. I learn to love this couple as you know. And I'm going to miss this, because this was a part of my life too.
I picture every scene in my mind, every moment, and was very amusing the way you play with us, but always was with respect to the readers.
Everything that begins has an end, and this one was perfect for the story.
My opinion is that you are an excellent writer, so go on! keep on doing this. I hope more in the future, really don't know what I want to read...
Well, I'm short of vocabulary (of course in English! It takes me some time write this paragraph), but I think that I could express exactly what I want.
Thanks for share this with us, and for take your time and give an answer to every review.

Hola Celeste,
thank you for coming on this journey with me! I've enjoyed it immensely and I know I'm going to miss hearing from you and the other reviewers I feel that I have got to know. I seem to have caught the writing bug, however, so the next story is already in the works.
I think there will be a sequel to this story at some point, but at the moment it's still a bit vague in my mind. In the meantime I've already published that little extra material to Falcons, you might like that even though it's only short.

What a great end to a beautiful story! I don't know how u manage to find the time with 3 girls to run around after as well as working, but u do and I for one thank you.
My favourite part is still where Eowyn and Lotti get attacked by the Southlanders.
Can't wait to see more stories from you, you write so engagingly.

I only have to look around my flat to see where I find the time to write - I economize on tidying up... (But I call it setting priorities)
I've started work on the next story - an alternative Eomer/Lothiriel scenario - but I think it will be a while until I start publishing. Tonight, though, it's that dead sea creature that I promised.
Thanks for your review!

Emerging from that room - it must have been a strain. I should think they would both rather pull the pillows over their heads and pretend the outside world didn't exist. For a while, anyway.
Lothiriel is getting pretty good at tormenting Eomer - only she knows she's doing it rather more now! And Eomer enjoyed picking on Amrothos, poor hung-over prince.
Lovely symbolism of the falcons flying free - Lothiriel has indeed found her place as Eomer's queen.
Lovely story. I hope you have plans to tell us more about Lothiriel's life in Rohan. I'm sure there will be at least some fireworks on the way!
Author's reply
Hello Bodkin,
don't feel too sorry for Eomer and Lothiriel, after all they have the second longest night of the year coming up. Lothiriel is getting more aware of her power, but then he rather likes it. Like Eowyn said, his life is going to be interesting from now on (especially if I should decide to write a sequel - nothing like a sadistic author to add a bit of excitement to your life).
You'll get another glimpse of how Amrothos is feeling next weekend.

I LOVED THIS!!!
Really, this story was a million times better than anything I could have found on the shelves of Barnes and Noble or any other bookstore! Your characterizations were deep and complex, your glimpse into their thoughts and feelings so detailed that they came to life for me so vividly that I was drawn into your world and forgot all about what was going on around me! I love your Eomer and Lothoriel, and your view of the new queen is the best I've seen and the most suited for Eomer. And your Eomer is exactly how I pictured him from the books and the movies. And I've already told you how much I adore your Eowyn and Faramir....now if only I could draw some more stories out of your concerning the southern family......
I can't pick a favorite part--from the clandestine meeting on the balcony to the archery contest, to the stay in Ithilien and the fight by the lake, to Eomer's botching the meeting in the stable and the scenes in Dol Amroth and the wedding, I love them all! I couldn't wait for more and fell in love with your characters all the more with each new chapter. You have such great talent! Really, If I could have my way, we'd be beating down the doors of the tolkein estate holders and demanding that this be published, it was that good!
And it's funny how you described Amrothos and Elphir, because my best friend is a younger daughter and she has 3 older brothers, with 2 exactly as you described these two characters, making the story even more fun for us. She's been dying to read this as I've told her all about it, but refused to do so until you had it complete, so she's going to be thrilled!
Really, anything you want to write, I'll be thrilled to read, and hope you continue to delight us with more fables from your vast well of talent! My only request is that somewhere down the line, I get to see more of Eowyn and Faramir, along with Lothoriel...maybe a story with a threat to the eastern holdings of rohan and the northeastern holdings of Ithilien? Maybe even more fun, Eomer and Faramir are captured and must fight their way home, while their wives are left leading their respective homelands in what may become a war? that would be an awesome test for Lothoriel! But no matter what, like I said before, anything you write I'm sure I'll enjoy. Thanks again for this wonderful story!
Author's reply
Hello BM,
thank you so much for your review! Bringing her characters to life is of course what every writer aims for, so I'm pleased I succeeded. I've been thinking about them for so long now that they seem almost alive to me, like old friends. Like I said, I have a couple of alternative Eomer/Lothiriel scenarios in mind, but they are mostly just for fun, this Lothiriel is the one I feel is the kind of woman the Eomer from the books would fall in love with.
The problem with Eowyn and Faramir is that they live so far away and I was going to base the next plot in Rohan as this story was mostly set in Gondor. Hmmm...I'll have to think about your ideas some more! It's all very vague in my mind at the moment anyway. Thanks for your suggestions, though.
By the way, I feel sorry for your friend if she has brothers like Amrothos and Elphir! Please say hello to her from me.

· Chapter 32: Of falcons and mûmakil
What a great fic!!! Loved the meeting between the two of them when Eomer mistook her for an intruder. Loved even more the fact that she made it past Firefoot without even a scratch. I think the part where the southlanders had gotten hold of Lothiriel and Eowyn was a great way to bring Lothiriels sense of her own self, by discovering that when it comes down to the nitty gritty she is quite capable of doing something to try and save her own life. It was great to see Eomer turn up as her knight in shining armour. I was so happy to see you not go down the path of having her just stand there and take it and just wait to be rescued.
Her eldest brother is an absolute horror and I agree that he needs a damn good punch!!! What a bore, can only feel sorry for his wife if she has to put up with his condescending attitude (and his future children).
You had me worried there for a moment I thought Prince Imrahil was going to say NO!!!!! Breathed a sigh of relief when he finally conceded. Definately like the Rohan custom of sharing bread and wine and then bed and roof. Much preferable than waiting all those months. The idea of him asking to ride with her to the wedding was absolutely brilliant and one would assume that as horses are such a big part of their lives, it would be only just that they would have the honour of delivering the bride and groom to the ceremony.
You had me thinking for a moment that the trouble that was brewing on the wedding night, with Eomer's severe case of foot in mouth disease, was going to be a huge problem for Lothiriel and that she would not consumate the marriage. It was so touching to see her realising all that he had loved and lost and forgiving him in a heartbeat. Love reigns!!
You have made me laugh, you have made me despair, you have made me annoyed (at her eldest brother)and you have made me so glad that I found your story. Thankyou!
Alatriel.
Author's reply
Hello Alatriel,
thank you for your review! You've more or less summarized the whole story there, and do you know, when I read it I thought it almost sounded like I had it all planned out from the beginning, when in truth I had only the faintest idea of what was going to happen when I started writing over half a year ago.
Those parts you've mentioned were also my favourite parts to write and I have tried to characterize Lothiriel as quite strong, if young, because I thought that would be the kind of woman Eomer would fall for.
I've also spent considerable thought on probable Rohirric wedding customs, so that's nice to have appreciated! As for the wedding night, I just wanted to put in an unexpected twist and in the end that worked out quite well.
Once more many thanks for your kind words!

She didn't want to wake up there, now did she! But it's just as well Eomer was determined - Lothiriel wouldn't want to miss her wedding night. The special Gondor nightgown was a nice touch! A tormented male and a very useful 'Tug here' string. But between waking her up and persuading Lothiriel to indulge in - er - horizontal activity, it did seem as if there might be some doubt about them ever getting there.
They started so promisingly too! And then Eomer let out something he considered no more than a means to an end and - whoomph! - fireworks. Brood mares and escape clauses! I would have thought a life time of being Eowyn's brother would have taught Eomer a lot about male foot-in-mouth disease - but apparently not! I'm glad Lothiriel had that vision of him as a young man who has lost most of the people he loved and who loved her. And, of course, agreed to the consummation. Which she did not think resembled toothache.
Author's reply
Hello Bodkin,
a masterful summary of the whole chapter in two paragraphs! I agree that Lothiriel was quite happy to be woken up in the end, despite probably not getting that good night's sleep you had in mind for her. And Eomer at least showed he's a fast learner and didn't put his foot in twice (something tells me that would have been the end of him!).
Also there's something to be said for Gondorian sophistication after all, isn't there, if not for Gondorian advice.
Thanks for your review!

That was such a beautifully written chapter with a few unexpected twists for added pleasure.Eomer really had to think fast after angering his new wife but he really should have expected such fury from her--though not on their wedding night!
Also, Lothiriel being bold and passionate at the end was very welcome, not the least to Eomer! Lothiriel is a strong woman and she knows what she wants.I'm sure that Eomer will be a very gentle, tender teacher.
I hope we get a 'morning after' chapter because I'd dearly love to see Elphir's reaction to his sister's new state of happiness.I can just picture his face if they start canoodling with each other in front of him!
Love this story.Update soon.

Hello Alison,
that's what I like doing best, adding a few unexpected twists and surprises to the story. And Eomer really should have been honest about what he said to Imrahil because she was always honest with him, e.g. when she confessed to kissing those suitors.
Still, it all worked out for the best in the end, didn't it. I agree she might be young, but she's also strong and fortunately for him she loves him.
As to the morning after, I've got one more chapter planned (but only a short one) and since you're not the only reader asking after it, you might well get it.

Elphir is a total idiot. He doesn't even seem to realise that it is not a good idea to challenge Eomer on propriety on the very day of his wedding to Lothiriel. Perhaps Lothiriel should try doing a William Tell, with her brother acting as apple support.
I liked the campaign to escape the teasing. Eowyn got Lothiriel away safely - and the goodwill of Hergyth again came in useful. I can really see that the women wouldn't be nearly as keen on the macho 'bedding the bride and groom' antics.
And now Eomer has joined his wife - only to find her fast asleep. I hope she wakes up - I wouldn't want her to miss out on the wedding night activities that precede the formal assumption of queenship.

Hello Bodkin,
the William Tell scene is really something I should have come up with! Sounds like a worthy drabble topic.
Eomer does know how to choose his allies and it looks like Lothiriel is finally getting that good night sleep's you mentioned earlier on - or wasn't this what you had in mind? It's an interesting legal question you're raising here - would she still be queen? We might find out, then again we might not.
