· Chapter 99999: Notes to Readers
Sorry to see this end, but all stories must eventually. I'll definitely be reading "Truth"
Author's reply
I both dread and welcome a story's ending... I often want more, and yet I'm happy to come to a happy resolution. However, there always seems to be another story to tell. (Just not enough time to tell them all!)
Thanks so much for your encouraging notes! Hope you enjoy "Truth"!

· Chapter 46: Epilogue
Aha! The epilogue at the last! And of course this is the perfect one to take over as Warden of the Westmarch! Glad Ferdi is perceptive enough to realize this and push Pippin into considering the appointment even before the Thain tries to convince Sam, only to be preempted by Sam himself.
So glad that this is at last completed. (About time, of course! Heh! Love to the girls, Bob, and the beasts.)
Author's reply
"At last" is right! Especially since I was under the impression that I'd finished posting this months ago...
I've managed to work out the schedule to accommodate a couple hours for fanfic each week (at the not-so-wee hobbits' urging) and so I've begun plugging away again. Doing the research needed before writing again, building a reading list, etc.
Thank you for your encouragement!
At the moment there's a Giant Schnoz barking in my ear, so I'd better quit the keyboard and plunge into the day...

· Chapter 45: Ah! Now I See, as I Go to the Marriage
I really loved this story and can't wait for the final chapter. Let us know when the sequel begins. (I hope Ferdi regains his sight.)
Author's reply
See previous reply as to sequels and Ferdi's regaining his sight. His blindness was based in a real case from the Great War, where stress caused a soldier to lose his sight for a dozen years, and then suddenly...
Thanks for taking time to leave a good word!

· Chapter 99999: Notes to Readers
I can't believe this wonderful journey is over. I really had hope Ferdi would regain his sight before it ended. I shall have to see what other delights you have posted. (Will there be more to the Tenth Walker?)
Author's reply
Thank you so much for your encouraging words!
A couple of sequels:
Truth (Ferdi's blindness actually doesn't hinder him)
http://storiesofarda.com/chapterlistview.asp?SID=476
On Solid Ground (You get your wish :) )
http://storiesofarda.com/chapterlistview.asp?SID=1406
And yes, the next chapter of the Tenth Walker is nearly finished, and I have carved a regular writing time out of my schedule, at least whilst the not-so-wee hobbits are taking art classes this term! So I have hopes of reading, and writing again, after a long drought.
Thanks again!

· Chapter 45: Ah! Now I See, as I Go to the Marriage
A very sweet and so practical a wedding! I rejoice to have seen the two couples wed!
Author's reply
I just love hobbity weddings. I think they'd be full of food and laughter, don't you?
I rejoice that you have bowed to a nagging daughter and have finally finished posting this! Now--Thorn and Thain! Thorn and Thain! Thorn and Thain!
And trust Aragorn to find a way to force Pippin to slow down and smell the roses. And love Gimli's response to Legolas's request!
Author's reply
LOL, she noticed that there was still one chapter lacking, and has continued to nag...
Am writing in Thorn and Thain again, and as long as life stays relatively impossible (as opposed to completely impossible) I will hope to post a new chapter to that one soon, too. Have to do some research, though.

· Chapter 37: A Battle Arose
Good for Ferdi. He is finding his worth after all, though I still think he might get his sight back.
Author's reply
Ferdi's blindness is based on a case of WWI shell shock, where a soldier lost his sight (they thought) on account of the horrors he'd seen. Medical science was unable to help him, but his sight did come back on its own some years later.
Hope that's not too much of a spoiler. (!)
See "Truth", "A Comedy of Merrys" and "On Solid Ground" for more.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a good word!

· Chapter 36: My Life's Breath is Failing
Poor Ferdi. As if he hasn't had enough bad things happen to him, now he loses his sight. Sure hope the Elves can help him. He has a lot more work to do. Frodo could use some healing too.
Author's reply
Frodo definitely could use some healing, too. I think the King and his athelas might help to lift at least some of the darkness...

You've been mentioning a story called "Flames". where is it posted?
Author's reply
Flames is posted in its entirety here on SoA:

· Chapter 26: They Are All Waiting On Thee
I'm delighted that the Hobbits were safely rescued. I hope the ladies are not punished for freeing them, though I doubt the new king would do such a thing. The future looks much brighter for the people of Harad.
This is such a wonderful tale. I hope the muse has more stories in mind for us.
Author's reply
Thank you! It is so lovely to hear from you. I am hoping to have more writing time in the summer, without the pressures of school and too-full schedule to interfere.
You are right, there is a new wind of change blowing through Harad. The new king has a tender heart, after his mother perhaps, and his father did not have the chance to toughen him up sufficiently to be the same sort of monstrous tyrant.
(I like the young king, and with Elessar's guidance and friendship, I think he'll turn out well.)

· Chapter 12: Sleepers, Wake!
What a sweet chapter, as least to me it was. It's terrible to see how something like Rosie-lass saw could almost destroy her. Glad everthing was resolved most favorably.
Author's reply
Tari, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your thoughts! I just now saw them, but I do want you to know I appreciate you!
Am hoping to get the last few chapters up soon. Whew. Where does the time go?

I just had to tell you how much this elf is enjoying this story. I love the way you weaved the humor by way of a child into this chilling story. I'll bet the Hobbits are glad the Rangers protect the boundries of the Shire now.

A far better bit of news than she'd expected, I'm certain. A double wedding to look forward to! Hope the girls are fine with it, of course.

I think the girls are more than fine with it... *g*
Thanks!

Ah! Awake at last and prospering. No, not likely that Sam would be granted the recipe for lembas, but there's no harm in merely asking, I'm sure. And all's well as ends better, which it appears will happen in Hargrost!

I've been reading several of your Thain stories lately and am falling quite in love with the universe you have created. Definitely looking forward to the next chapter of this. :)

· Chapter 39: In All that I Am Doing
Young Frodo now has a far better appreciation of his father's great strength of character, now having a taste for what he went through, and he has chosen life. Ferdi appreciates what he has also, and realizes that although he might not be the Hobbit he was, he is yet capable of being something and will never be less than beloved to his Nell. And poor Pippin--he's been thrown back in time to the battle of the Pelennor! No wonder he's seeking to warn Aragorn of Southrons!
Now to see what comes next.
Author's reply
Belated thanks.
Did you make it through the hurricane all right? We had a little water in the basement and lingering problems with the drains, but otherwise ok. There was flooding in some parts of the city, but not nearby. But we heard quite a bit of rain fell in your area, and with winds at the Coast over 100 mph... whew.

· Chapter 38: Pleasant Rest, Beloved Soul's Desire
I'm proud of our Chancellor here. Yes, he's pulling his own weight in spite of himself. Now, if Frodo could just let go of the fear and memories and rest properly.
Lovely chapter.
Author's reply
Thanks. Yes, when he gives his word, he keeps it. (And poor Frodo... it'll take awhile for the nightmares to fade, I think.)

Wise indeed he's proing; and he's saved the two of them. Now, for them to be found, which will happen at the proper time.

· Chapter 36: My Life's Breath is Failing
What would we do without the stubborn Tooks--too stubborn to die easily, even when they think they want it. Now, to learn to live again! And he will, I know.
Author's reply
Yes, he will. (And with help, he'll even learn to see in new and different ways.)

Oh Ferdi! Trust your Friends.
It is now late evening here but when I usually coincide with you I have just dragged myself out of my pit (bed) and logged on to get my morning fix of hobbit with breakfast!
Author's reply
Hobbit with breakfast, such a lovely idea. We do "traditional English breakfast" around here on special occasions, and like to joke that's it's something to write home to the Shire about.

· Chapter 35: Enemies, Blow the Alarm!
Oh, how wonderful to see the rescue. Now we have two more who are no longer green warriors, necessarily "blooded" as they protect not only their own but the King's party as well.
Wonderful detail, and all too likely.
Author's reply
Thanks! I figure any frontier is going to require some fortitude in the winning.
