Thranduil with puppies and kids is so cute. Oropher kept gold and refused alliance- they should first ask him and later give gifts :D. Celeborn should have predicted that answer.

Breathtaking battle scenes. Fighting Thranduil makes me hold my breath. Wonder about Lindoriel's assaults: Doriath, Sirion but don't know the third one?

I think I was referencing the Alkarinwe incident.

I am a bit curious about Malach and Elemmire as they really are a great couple. Hope to hear about them more. Thranduil's reaction to dwarves is awesome and I love to watch that he is more open-minded than Oropher. Lindoriel is wonderful and I am mesmerised by the development of their feelings and the fact that first Thranduil loved her like brother and was do unsure what to do. This idea was simply brilliant. I wasn't sure anything until the moment you decided to reveal it. Oropher's fear of his wife's wroth is awesome :).
Starlight and Moonlight · 22 October 2018 · Chapter 20: Banners Unfurled II
It is wondrous the way you make your readers care for all the characters. It's not only with Thranduil and Oropher, but with all of your OCs. I keep worrying for Celebrin, I'm always afraid that Gwaelas will die, and with all of the other characters, too. I feel their joy and their sorrow as if it is my own, and that is a thing that is rarely found in not only fan fiction these days, but also in most other writing.

I find it really great that you have a quote for every chapter. It must be kinda hard to find so many.

I cannot even begin to describe to you how wonderful this story is and how much I am enjoying it. It is rare that I can read fanfiction and not think of one single criticism, yet here is one such story. Your subtle handling of the first appearance of Annatar was masterful. I know who he is, but even if I had come into the story not knowing, those chapters still would have been successful. The suspense and looming evil were just perfect. I have been waiting for Oropher to bite the dust. Not because I don't enjoy him as a character (I do...you've given him so much dimension), but because I am eager to see how you handle Thranduil the king. I only regret that you have not updated part three in years. I hope you won't abandon it forever.
Author's reply
Thanks for the lovely reviews! I promise I haven't abandoned part three; I've just hit a wall. I'm currently on a quest to simplify my life, so hopefully I'll have more time for writing in the future. :)

Let me know as son as you do. In other news, I may get a chance to meet your btheorr. I am possibly (if I can scrape funding together) going to the JWHA conference. A friend of mine is very active in it and I've started to help with some of his research and with him and a few others, we are working on a paper that we may present there. Oh yeah, few other things, I'm now working on my Master's in History at Utah State and we just had twins in October, so now I have 4 kids, two girls, Viktoria, 7, Elizabeth 4 and the two twin boys, Michael and Thomas.I have been sort of writing, but mostly doing history stuff, not fiction (which I really need to get back into, my writing style is suffering from too much dry historical writing). Anyway, still stuck in Utah, but it's at least entertaining.

It is time to stop ripping through this utterly fascinating tale and finally leave feedback. Coriel, I have been so enthralled by each succeeding chapter that I have been rendered incapable of a decent, coherent response. You have so masterfully woven so many storylines and events into such a complete and utterly brilliant tapestry that I see it all play out before me. I see every landscape and realm with pristine clarity, I feel the weather, the long passing of centuries and most of all I see and know these characters in a way that makes them real. I don't feel I'm reading some fantasy, but a history, lovingly, devotedly written by one who may have witnessed it. You have fleshed out characters, places and events that the dear Professor, in many cases, only gave us glimpes of. You have created original characters that are every bit as endearing or loathsome as any that I have read anywhere. The love between Thranduil and Lindóriel is frustrating, beautiful, magnificent! As is Thranduil himself, whom I absolutely love and I feel that he stands at my shoulder as I read this, so immediate and clear is his presence. Every chapter is my favorite. At least that is what I tell myself each time I finish one. 'That was my favorite chapter'. My dear, you are a faultless storyteller, your prose lyrical, evocative and rich. This chapter I have just finished was frightening, ominous and had me on the edge of my feet. I could feel the mence of Annatar all around. And Oooooooo did I know who he was the moment you decribed his first appearance. I was almost afraid to go to sleep last night after reading the chapter in which Annatar summons Thranduil. His evil is palpable and you wonder that the Mirdain for all their entrancement over what he teaches them cannot feel it as well. And poor, brave, dedicated Gwaelas! What that devil did to him! I fear for the man and deeply admire his determination to stand at the side of him Lord. I simply cannot give praise enough. Everytime I am forced to leave this story I pine to return to it. You have an amazing, breathtaking talent. Your knowledge of Tolkien and his world his stunning. I bow to you. Adrianne PS: You must be a fan of 'White Christmas'. *wink*
Author's reply
Thanks so much, Adrianne! It's always an unexpected pleasure to read your incredibly thoughtful reviews. Sometimes it's possible to get burnt out on even Thranduil, but your enthusiasm is catching, and you always help me rediscover him. It's people like you who keep this project alive! :) Yes, I'll admit that several movies have had sneak influences on the story, and 'White Christmas' is certainly one of them. I must have made a reference somewhere, didn't I? I can't remember it off the top of my head, but it was probably there. ;)

It's december! I hope you had a good semester but now it's time to update, please!
Author's reply
It certainly is. Last semester was awesome, but with very little time to spare! I've been back for almost two weeks already, but I've been disappointed with my progress so far (or lack thereof). I have started the first installment, and hope to have it post-worthy within the next few days, especially since I've taken care of most Christmas shopping and wrapping, as well as many other demanding projects. Things are finally settling down, and not a minute too soon. So, stand by, the Third Age is set to begin any time now! ;) It's nice to know I still have people waiting for me!

Hi, I'm truly impressed with this story and the way it ended, very good indeed. I must apologise for not reviewing as often as I should have. There is so much to talk about in the last number of chapters, I'm just glad that Thranduil could work things out with Lindoriel before he went, it would've been tragic if he departed on such bitter terms. Did you have to kill Celebrin off? He was a character that still had so much life in him but I suppose it is all part of the plot. I am dying to start reading the next story I'm guessing that it is going to be mainly about Thranduil's new role as king, husband and father, I'm only hazarding a guess, I may very well be wrong. I truly enjoyed the chapters since I last reviewed. There was so much action and angst happening that I couldn't stop reading, especially with Annatar and the inevitable war that took place. I just have one question. Wasn't Gil-Galad supposed to be dead in the last alliance and Elrond succeeded him in becoming lord of Imladris and bearing the ring, Vilya or has the war not ended yet, that could be it, I am such a dunce, I'm thinking with all the events happening and discussions of going home I wasn't thinking that the war was still happening, duh(smacks self on the head). You must please forgive my shallowness despite being a brunette. This story has truly been great and I thank you for writing and writing it with such precision and detail that many fail to neglect (points to self). I'm sure that I won't be disappointed in the next one and I am highly looking forward to it. Till next time
Author's reply
Thank you! :) I'm looking forward to the next part, too. In fact, I've often been tempted to start it over here, but time does not allow. Homework; what can you do? ;) Meanwhile, I'm having an awesome time in Rome. We saw and touched Pope Benedict yesterday!!! And the literary plans continue . . .
Redheredh · 3 September 2006 · Chapter 26: Dust to Dust VI
Wonderful quote! And those last paragraphs. So elequent about Thranduil's innermost nature. For all his fear, he would endure the grief and will channel his fury as best he might. As many times before, Thranduil might seem to waver at a challenge. But given any strength, he will face it and act - more dangerous than wise. Maybe when he gets back home, that will include Lindoriel's challenge, as well. So, this part of the tale is ended? Well, it was lovely to follow along with this prince and his family once again. I look forward to rejoining them in the future.
Redheredh · 3 September 2006 · Chapter 25: Dust to Dust V
This was incredibly heartbreaking. Poor Thranduil being given a chance to say farewell to one who he loved as a father when he could not to the one who was his beloved father. The death scene we were spared before, instead is amplified for not having happened. Will this encounter remind the new king that he was the capable son of two great elves? Or will this loss compound his feelings of inadequacy? I am only a reader and I am finding it hard to take.
