Antane · 7 July 2007 · Chapter 17: Treasured Memories

"The most precious things remain in the heart, Mama. Possessions are not really important, and I think by spreading these things around I'm keeping your memory alive, so that when I'm gone others will look at these jewels and remember you." Very true, a loving gift from a loving son. And hopefully when the real Frodo (instead of this glorious AU one), how I love them both) went West he realized that too - that his brothers were still with him and he was still with them. From one who was possessed by a possession, that's an important thing for him to realize. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Antane · 7 July 2007 · Chapter 16: Spring at Brandy Hall

I love wee Frodo stories - just want to hug him and squeeze him. :) Such a joyful lad. Namarie, God bless, Antane

Author's reply

Yes, wee Frodo is very cute and it is fun imagining what he would have been like.

Antane · 7 July 2007 · Chapter 12: When All Other Lights Go Out

And Frodo was light for Sam. This is my favorite scene in the whole book. I'm glad to read another bit of it. And my thanks to that orc who kept Frodo from being raped. Dear me, such darkness and hate then rescued by light and love from his brother. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Antane · 7 July 2007 · Chapter 10: A Shire Yule

You and Armariel have shown me what a wonderful father Frodo would have been. Alas, not his fate, though his desire I'm sure. It's nice to see it fulfilled here in the role of beloved uncle. Aragorn has a hobbity soul? Cute. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane

Author's reply

I think Frodo may have been one of those people happy to be an uncle but perhaps not desirous of the responsibility of fatherhood. Not everyone does wish to be a parent, and being an uncle (or auntie) is nice because we can hand the children back to their parents when they are grumpy, badly-behaved or when we've just had enough! :-)) No doubt he does enjoy spending time with the children though, and his early life at Brandy Hall would probably have taught him how to look after babies and small children, even if it did put him off for life! I think Aragorn is just a large hobbit really. :-)

Antane · 5 July 2007 · Chapter 6: While the Sun Shines

"You alright?" Sam asked Frodo as they headed down to Bag End. "I feel wonderful! Just nicely tired, with the satisfaction of a good day's work done, a few blisters on my hands, which are to expected, and my back will probably twinge a bit, but I've had such a lovely day." "Good - that is what I always wanted to hear. I'm sorry if I fuss - I know I do - but I can't help it." "Oh Sam, you wouldn't be my dear Sam if you didn't fuss a bit, but don't worry so. I've caused you son much trouble and worry over the years and I know you fuss because you care for me." "Just tell me if I'm being daft old Sam." "I wouldn't swap 'daft old Sam' for all the treasures of Arda, dearest, you know that. I've never been better cared for and you have given me back everything I thought I'd lost. I have a home, a family and I'm surrounded by so much love I can't express what it means to me." He linked his arm through Sam's and they walked into the kitchen together. Yea! Frodo's happy! And they are still together and all that and of course Sam would not be Sam if he wasn't overflowing with love and care. And that Aragorn can see it too - wonderful! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Oh yes, I do enjoy writing happy, healed Frodo. I quite agree that it wouldn't be Sam if he didn't show such loving concern, bless him. And our favourite Ranger King gets to see it all! Thank you for the lovely review.

Antane · 5 July 2007 · Chapter 3: A Silly Moment

Rose shook her head and laughed quietly as she took washing off the line and folded it. Sometimes she thought she had seven children, not five. Did lads ever grow up? Little boys all their lives, but none the worse for that. If only we could all remain that innocent and free. Perhaps we can age backward somehow. If Frodo can go through and to hell and regain his joy, we all can. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Antane · 5 July 2007 · Chapter 2: For Eyes To See..........

Rufus sees clearly, doesn't he? Indeed Frodo shines with the grace of Iluvatar as does his brother. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Rufus sees very clearly. I always wonder what cats are thinking and I'm sure they know a lot more than they let on.

Antane · 5 July 2007 · Chapter 1: A Mishap in the Kitchen

I've been meaning to get your stories for quite some time - Queen Galadriel recommends you for good hobbity love - but so much fic, so little time, still here I am at last for a short bit and hope to return soon. How wonderful it would have been for it to have been this way - Frodo never having to leave and being a happy brother and uncle, Sam having his treasure near and all of them one big happy family. It would be just like Sam to panic if he thought his love was hurting - good it was only over onions and they were able to laugh over it. Merry-lad's happy announcement that Fwo was not sad was cute. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Glad you finally made it! I hope you enjoy the stories, most of which are set in my AU with Frodo happy, healed and able to enjoy his 'family' in the Shire.

Selene Aduial · 22 February 2007 · Chapter 28: A Song for Gandalf

*snicker* I can just imagine the entire fellowship singing this, and so slowly but surely all of middle earth up to the Valar. *grin, snort*

Author's reply

I was wondering whether Gandalf later sang this in the Uttermost West! What a thought! Perhaps you've shoved another plotbunny in my direction........

SlightlyTookish · 22 February 2007 · Chapter 28: A Song for Gandalf

LOL!! This is perfect Pippin, sweet in a mischevious way. And at last we find something Gandalf does not know! *giggles madly*

Author's reply

Clever Pippin indeed, finding something the Wizard does not know! Pip is very sweet though, even when he's being mischievous.

Dreamflower · 21 February 2007 · Chapter 28: A Song for Gandalf

*snicker* Oh, that's just *snort*giggle*chuckle* dreadful! That Pippin! Hilarious!

Author's reply

Yes, that naughty disgraceful Pippin! I do wonder if the rest of the Fellowship sang this at all. And of course Gandalf, on his return to Valinor, may have taught it to others! It's a nice thought.

Andrea · 20 February 2007 · Chapter 28: A Song for Gandalf

A slow and very mischievous grin spread across Pippin's face... LOL!!! That's how it always begins! That song was really funny, and the fact that Gandalf actually sings it shows that Pippin made a great impression on him. Although, I don't know in which direction ;-)

Author's reply

No, I'm not sure either! Gandalf had a good sense of humour and I'm sure he found Pippin very amusing and a refreshing change from all those exalted Elves. Beware Pip's mischievous grin!

Pearl Took · 20 February 2007 · Chapter 15: The Greatest Trial of All

This sort of thing is why I only had two children! Excellent, BB!

Author's reply

Very wise of you! I never had any - and this was one of the reasons! :-)) Cats are much easier to put to bed!

Pearl Took · 20 February 2007 · Chapter 28: A Song for Gandalf

Wonderful! Wizards need such ditties to keep them sane. Nothing like a good laugh to ease one's mind ;-)

Author's reply

Gandalf did say everyone should have a hobbit or two in their care......... Wonder if Galadriel found herself singing that at some point? :-))

shirebound · 20 February 2007 · Chapter 28: A Song for Gandalf

Thankfully Gandalf was in a good humour and at least the tiny Took had not been turned into something unnatural. LOL, this is so adorable, BB. Pippin is such a perfect balance of innocence, mischief, pure joy, and pure rascal. Love it! I wonder what the Fellowship *was* singing during all those days of travel? :D

Author's reply

I'm sure that by the time they reached the Misty Mountains the Fellowship had been thoroughly corrupted and were probably singing all 9 verses of 'Nineteen Nights.........'!!!! Gotta love Pippin.

harrowcat · 20 February 2007 · Chapter 28: A Song for Gandalf

Very delicately done BB! The second half made the first bit perfect. my, admittedly over-active, imagination is making me both grin and blush!

Author's reply

Aw go on! Pippin, like most small children is at that age where rude words and the human (or hobbit) anatomy is terribly funny. Glad it made you laugh.

Kitty · 20 February 2007 · Chapter 28: A Song for Gandalf

*rotfl* Oh Pippin! No wonder Gandalf didn't know this song! I only wonder how he managed to keep a straight face during the lesson! You know, this *has* to come back and haunt Pippin after the Quest, but he probably wouldn't even mind *shakes head*

Author's reply

Even one of the Wise can still learn something - even if it is a rude little song! Those Tooks are incorrigible!

Elemmírë · 19 February 2007 · Chapter 28: A Song for Gandalf

HeHeHe! Too cute, Baggins Babe! Pippin certainly has a knack for ... er songwriting. LOL! I'm glad to see Gandalf truly appreciate wee Pippin's creativity. Thanks for making me laugh! ~Elemmírë~

Author's reply

I'm glad you enjoyed Pippin's songwriting! I'm sure that Gandalf would be very amused by this and the charm of the young Took. Laughter is always a good thing.

Larner · 19 February 2007 · Chapter 28: A Song for Gandalf

Peregrin Took managed to corrupt the entire Fellowship years before the journey actually began! Oh, my goodness! I can see poor Gandalf singing that softly under his breath in the Citadel of Minas Anor, and Denethor looking after him totally aghast.

Author's reply

Good grief! I might have to write that sometime - what a wonderful image! I just hope Gandalf didn't sing it anywhere near Gwaihir!! :-))

Grey Wonderer · 19 February 2007 · Chapter 28: A Song for Gandalf

Very funny. That was darling.

Author's reply

I can never hope to emulate your writing of young Pippin but this image just came to me and I had to write it.

Queen Galadriel · 19 February 2007 · Chapter 28: A Song for Gandalf

*covers mouth with hand*snort* ROTFL I give up! Oh that is naughty, and I shouldn't laugh, but...LOLOLOL! Naughty, naughty Pippin! :) God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

I think you should certainly laugh - Pippin would probably be offended if you didn't. My friend's daughter used to sing that particular little song when she was about 6. Small children are always fascinated by rude words and the more adults react with horror the more they say them. The trick is to ignore it. Glad you enjoyed.

Queen Galadriel · 16 February 2007 · Chapter 27: A Glimpse of the Shire

Oh, how lovely! I'm almost hungry now, something I haven't been for three days due to a flu-cold thing. And will the next tale in this so-sweet reunion-verse be of that visit? Hmm? *hint hint* :) God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

Not sure what the next tale will be, although I have several ideas. Glad you enjoyed it and hope you're feeling better.

Queen Galadriel · 16 February 2007 · Chapter 25: With Love From Rose

Dear me, I seem to have missed so very much more than I thought! I love the last line of this, LOL! Yes, exactly how much mess could they make in an afternoon? :) God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

Can you imagine two Rangers in a kitchen? eeep! I'm sure they could make a lot of mess but they could probably produce reasonable food as well.

Bodkin · 4 January 2007 · Chapter 27: A Glimpse of the Shire

What fun! A sort-of version of the Queen's Christmas message - with the Royal Family being the ones who get to look at some of the most worthy of their citizens as they celebrate! I like Eowyn envying Arwen her child-control skills! And the hobbity tea.

Author's reply

I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're right! LOL! Ah well, they just had to have a hobbity meal after all that Shire jollity - what else? Glad you enjoyed.

Tigger · 3 January 2007 · Chapter 27: A Glimpse of the Shire

Sigh...That was just so perfect and lovely I don't even know where to begin. What a wonderful Yule gift Aragorn thought of and I thought the warning given rather bittersweet. Especially when he said that although they were sure there were non left to bend a palantir to evil again, that anyone could be swayed and then gave Faramir that glance. Also loved that little touch on Eldarion's future. How Aragorn would teach him how to properly use the palantir, but how there was plenty of time in the future for that. I also can sympathize w/Eowyn. My cousin is just like Arwen, the kids can be running every where wild and all she needs to do is say "Children." in a quiet calm voice and it's like magic. ;o) Loved the Apple Man and the tradition of pouring apple cider and blessing the orchard for the coming year. Is that something that actually used to happen, because I've never heard of that tradition before. What a lovely gift for all of us. Thank you BB and Happy New Year!!

Author's reply

Happy New Year, Tigger! So glad you enjoyed the story. Ah, you picked up on the little reassuring glance towards Faramir. I think Aragorn would want him to understand that no blame was attached to Denethor for what happened. The Apple Man tradition is still strong in parts of rural Britain. It happens in several areas and the deep and ancient power is quite spine-tingling. The Apple Man is a variation on the Green Man and it is very moving when the procession arrives and the trees are blessed. It acknowledges the spirits in all trees (Treebeard would approve)and has been going on since before Christianity ever reached these shores. My mother was like Arwen - children instinctively obeyed her.
