This was just adorable and reminds me of my kitten, Harry and old cat Leo, save that it is Harry who tries to wash Leo! You certainly understand cats well. Frodo is blessed with this lovable pair.

shirebound · 29 June 2013 · Chapter 2: For Eyes To See..........

I needed some sweet hobbity gentleness this evening, and sought out Rufus and his Bag End family. I love your stories so much.

Author's reply

hello Shirebound, Glad I can help by providing the sweet hobbity gentleness so necessary. I still seek out your stories when in need of the same. Can't access my yahoo e-mail at present and can't seem to report the problem without going round in circles! *sigh* I'm a non-person as far as they're concerned since I started using the new computer. May have to open a whole new account!

shirebound · 28 April 2013 · Chapter 5: The Perfect Place

Your Shire Sketchbook is one of my 'go to' places when I need comfort, warmth, and loving gentleness. *happy sigh*

shirebound · 18 March 2012 · Chapter 11: King Eomer's Gift

I just wanted you to know that I still read these stories, I still love them, and I'm so happy you wrote them.

Kitty · 12 March 2012 · Chapter 40: In Plain Sight

Why do I get the feeling Frodo enjoys it to see the others so curious and not telling them what he has planned, leaving them squirming? It's something I always loved about your Reunion verse – to see him so happy and mischievous again! How sweet of Merry and Pippin to come early and help with the harvest! Ooh – that was what Frodo was trying to find out? What a wonderful idea! It's the first time I see a story where someone finds the Entwives. Of course, now I want another story where Treebeard gets the news, and maybe the Ents meet the Entwives again! They would be so happy!

Kitty · 12 March 2012 · Chapter 39: An Unexpected Visitor

That was lovely! What a honour, to meet the Lady Yavanna! I doubt there are any mortals who ever saw one of the Valar, and even for the Elves this wouldn't be a frequent occurence. So it is so much more amazing. And if anyone deserves it, then Frodo and Sam.

Larner · 25 July 2011 · Chapter 40: In Plain Sight

I, too, have wondered about that distantly seen figure and its report! Yes, trust Frodo to remember it and to go seeking them, hopefully reuniting them with the Ents at last!

Author's reply

That particular plot bunny has been nibbling my ankles for months and I finally had to deal with it! The sequel to this is mentioned in the next chapter of 'A Realm Regained' which should be up soon. :-)

Larner · 25 July 2011 · Chapter 39: An Unexpected Visitor

Oh, how wonderful an addition to your-verse! Yes, I do believe Yavanna would love to visit and bless that garden in particular! And the niphredil bloomed there afterwards? Yes! A holy place in the midst of those who were blessed!

Author's reply

Glad you found this one, Larner. I think Yavanna would have enjoyed a visit to that garden, to honour our two beloved Ringbearers.

Antane · 25 July 2011 · Chapter 40: In Plain Sight

This is indeed an intriguing idea - what if an Entwife had been seen? That would be wonderful if they and the Ents could reunite! *hugs Frodo for thinking of it* Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

I've always wanted to re-unite the Ents and their wives, and I also wanted to show that Frodo was responsible for a lot of the healing of Middle-earth by remaining. Glad you enjoyed.

Antane · 25 July 2011 · Chapter 39: An Unexpected Visitor

What a sweet gift given to our hobbits! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

I suspect that Yavanna was intrigued by Olorin's stories about the Ringbearers and paid them a visit. They deserve the gift.

Andrea · 25 July 2011 · Chapter 40: In Plain Sight

How wonderful! And didn't Treebeard ask Merry and Pippin to look out for Entwives in the Shire? He was right! Thank you for this lovely little story!

Author's reply

Yes, Tree beard di ask Merry and Pip to lookout for them - perhaps he thought the Shire a likely destination (if they managed to escape the darkness). I've always wanted to re-unite the Ents and Entwives. :-)

Dreamflower · 24 July 2011 · Chapter 39: An Unexpected Visitor

Oh my! I don't know how I missed this one! How wonderful for them to receive such a visitation on the Eastern side of the Sea!

Author's reply

Glad you liked it - that particular plot bunny would not let go of my ankle! I could see Yavanna in the garden at Bag End. Perhaps she heard about the Ringbearers from Olorin and decided to have a look for herself.

6336 · 24 July 2011 · Chapter 40: In Plain Sight

So that's where they ended up, makes sense when you think about it! Now to get them to Treebeard or Treebeard to them, or they could meet in the middle, which would be about Eregon, so maybe not! I do like your little snippits, I might not review but I do read them. Lynda

Author's reply

Thank you so much for the review, Lynda. It is always lovely to see what readers think about a story. I've always thought that the Shire was the most likely place for the Enwives if they managed to escape the darkness spreading across the Brown Lands. Hope you continue to enjoy the snippets!

Dreamflower · 24 July 2011 · Chapter 40: In Plain Sight

Oh! Oh! You can't stop here! Are the Entwives going to return to Fangorn? Or will Treebeard journey to the Shire to see them? BTW, I've always thought Hal saw an Entwife rather than an Ent; glad to know someone else agrees. (OT: I know you like my "Eucatastrophe-verse"; I can't post the one I'm working on here at SoA because it's a crossover. Do you want to know when it goes up?)

Author's reply

Ah! You will find out the answer to your question when I post the next chapter of "A Realm Regained" - had to post this first! Oooh! So glad someone else thinks Hal saw an Entwife. I've always thought the Shire was the obvious place for them. I would love to know when the story goes up - I do love your "Eucatastrophe-verse"! BTW, did you like the previous chapter (39)?

shirebound · 23 July 2011 · Chapter 40: In Plain Sight

What pure delight to find an update from you, BB. And, as always, your tale makes me feel so peaceful and full of hobbity joy. A wonderful story... even the Ents and Entwives deserve a happily ever after.

Author's reply

Thanks Shirebound - you win the prize again! I think the Ents and Entwives deserve a happy ever after - and it means more Entings! Bit obsessed with trees at the moment - the 500 year old oak in my local historic park dropped a massive branch on Thursday. Such a shame as it was such a wonderful shape.

Andrea · 14 March 2011 · Chapter 39: An Unexpected Visitor

Beautiful! And a great honour for Frodo and Sam! But even if we put aside the fact that Frodo and Sam were Ringbearers, I can very well understand that the Lady Yavanna chose a hobbit garden to dance in :-)

Author's reply

Thanks, Andrea. I thought it would be nice for Yavanna to visit the Shire and I agree it would be appropriate for her to dance in a hobbit garden. What better garden than Bag End?

lovethosehobbits · 13 March 2011 · Chapter 39: An Unexpected Visitor

Wow...what a great fic and a great honor for our Ringbearers!

Author's reply

Thank you for the review. This idea just wouldn't go away so I had to write it, but I think Yavanna would be the one to visit the Shire.

shirebound · 13 March 2011 · Chapter 39: An Unexpected Visitor

My children, best beloved echoed in their minds, and both felt a wave of love and joy This is so joyous and beautiful, BB! I'm insatiable when it comes to our beloved Bag End family and those who love and respect them. What a special and glorious experience for Frodo and Sam, and for us as well.

Author's reply

Thank you, Shirebound. We hobbity folk do love our Bag End family! I thought Frodo and Sam deserved something special.

cookiefleck · 13 March 2011 · Chapter 39: An Unexpected Visitor

This is quite charming and happy. Reads like an old folk tale. :o)

Author's reply

Thank you for the review. I usually write happy hobbits! Glad to hear that it reads like a folk tale though.

Antane · 12 January 2010 · Chapter 38: A Visit for Yule

What a sweet story! And what a delightful for those in the West to see their loved ones they had left behind - Bilbo to see his lad and know that lad is as loved and taken care of as ever and Elrond and Celebrian to see their daughter. Love remark of Bilbo about Gandalf's ears at the beginning and the mention of Frodo and Sam's light near the end and the snowball fight too. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Dreamflower · 11 January 2010 · Chapter 38: A Visit for Yule

What a delightful visit with both sides of the Sea! The idea of Bilbo riding on Gandalf's shoulders made me giggle! You know, you are going to have to start including the recipes with some of these lovely hobbit stories of yours! *makes puppy dog eyes*

Author's reply

Hi Dreamflower, great to hear from you. So pleased that you enjoyed the little visit to Reunion-verse! I just thought Bilbo might enjoy a ride on our favourite Wizard's shoulders - it's the adventurous Took in him. Aha! I am slowly drawing up various recipes and one day will post them. Trouble is I don't measure amounts normally so I have to remember to work out amounts before writing them down. I can't resist puppy-dog eyes!

Kitty · 10 January 2010 · Chapter 38: A Visit for Yule

Absolutely lovely, Baggins Babe! It's always great to have men, elves and hobbits together, and even better for a celebration. And it's even better to know that Elrond and Celebrían could see their daughter so happy there. Another part I love was the inclusion of Finrod; thanks to Fiondil, I have come to love him quite a bit ;-) You realise that this reader is now getting hungry, too, just from reading about all these delicacies? A belated happy new year to you!

Author's reply

I like to bring all the peoples together and nothing better than a Yule celebration and lots of hobbity fun. Yes, Fiondil has made a lot of us appreciate Finrod (and Namo)and I thought it was time to introduce him to our beloved hobbits. Yes, I was hungry writing this one! Happy New Year to you too.

Andrea · 10 January 2010 · Chapter 38: A Visit for Yule

"Now I know why Glorfindel has remained - he always did enjoy his food." LOL!!! Great explanation! That was a nice Yule celebration, for hobbits and men alike. And I'd say the "visitors" will also enjoy a fine hobbity meal before long. BTW, I like the names you gave the hobbit children, especially "Frodoric", which was apparently altered to fit in the Brandybuck naming conventions. Frodo must be very proud of his "nephew".

Author's reply

Well, Glorfindel had to stay for a reason - partly the food and partly to keep the Twins in order. I thought Elrond and Celebrian should be allowed to join in with the hobbity fun. Glad you liked the names. Frodoric appeared in a couple of the 'Growing Up Tales' and it sounded fitting in Brandybuck naming traditions. I'm sure Frodo is very proud of him. He becomes very important to a member of the Gamgee family.

harrowcat · 10 January 2010 · Chapter 38: A Visit for Yule

Ah - what happy hobbit scenes to delight in.

Author's reply

Ah, nothing nicer than happy hobbits! I thought they all deserved some fun and figured we ought to be able to involve those on the other side of the sea. Glad you enjoyed.

Larner · 9 January 2010 · Chapter 38: A Visit for Yule

How delightful! And love the mention of the Troubles Lists--thank you so! A wonderful Yule for them all!

Author's reply

Glad you enjoyed it, Larner. Curiously I was reading about country customs in English villages in the 18th and 19th centuries and one of them was to burn a list of sorrows for the old year or wishes for the new. I thought they deserved a nice time.
