Bodkin · 21 January 2006 · Chapter 21: Jewels (Aragorn, Faramir)

A consolation to both of them from the arduous duty of running Gondor! But then, Arwen and Eowyn might consider that they, too, have been rewarded.

Author's reply

Oh, absolutely. Some day I'll write a companion piece from their POV.

Raksha The Demon · 21 January 2006 · Chapter 21: Jewels (Aragorn, Faramir)

This is lovely! A moment of husbandly appreciation for beautiful, spirited wives, a glimpse of Arwen and Eowyn riding on the Pelennor, and a hint of pleasure to come. Aragorn and Faramir do indeed have good reason to feel lucky; after all they have suffered and endured, to look out from the White City and see only beauty.

Author's reply

A moment to celebrate! And a future to look forward to. Thanks for reading!

shirebound · 21 January 2006 · Chapter 3: Horse Thief (Elladan, Elrohir, Elrond, Glorfindel, Asfaloth, Aragorn)

What a delight! I have no doubt that the coming of Estel to Imladris brought more new experiences to the Elves there than they had faced in many a year. His look of resignation combined with his hunger for experience touched Elladan's heart. What a wonderful scene between these two brothers.

Author's reply

Hi, shirebound Yes, frankly, I wonder sometimes if it wasn't a bit of a bore to be an Elf. And how difficult and frustrating for a boy to be in Estel's position! So many limitations and secrets, with no explanation. Thanks for reading. G.A.

nat · 8 January 2006 · Chapter 31: Teatime in Rivendell (Bilbo, Legolas, Gandalf)

HA! that was great...

Larner · 6 January 2006 · Chapter 25: King Elessar's Peace (OC)

Yes, a worthy reason to rejoice for the grandson who will not know fear when he sees clouds darkening over the Ephel Duath. And I love to see the Tree bloom and shine in the light of day.

Author's reply

"Swords into ploughshares," here, or, rather, removable type--one of the world's greatest invention, in my opinion.

Larner · 6 January 2006 · Chapter 16: A Son's Farewell (Aragorn, Elrond)

Yes, if he doesn't return, care for the core of his heart. A proper farewell before the Quest, or the many that went before the one with Frodo.

Dreamflower · 6 January 2006 · Chapter 11: Waiting (Gilraen, Aragorn)

How poignant! And a bit of foreshadowing, as well.

Dreamflower · 6 January 2006 · Chapter 16: A Son's Farewell (Aragorn, Elrond)

Yes, beautiful, and much truer to the spirit of JRRT than the irritated and angry Elrond of the film.

Dreamflower · 6 January 2006 · Chapter 26: Another Prometheus (OC)

There is *always* another interpretation...as propagandists the world over have discovered...

Dreamflower · 6 January 2006 · Chapter 30: Gandalf’s No Good, Rotten, Really Bad Day (Manwe, Gandalf, Elrond, Arwen)

*ROTFLMBO* Now *that* is an unusual AU! Poor Aragorn! (But really, you know, why *was* he running around with only a broken sword?)

Author's reply

I would be really happy if someone could come up with just one semi-plausible explanation for this....

Dreamflower · 6 January 2006 · Chapter 31: Teatime in Rivendell (Bilbo, Legolas, Gandalf)

I am really enjoying these! Yes, I can see how having his meal snatched away would have rankled Bilbo for all those years.

Dreamflower · 6 January 2006 · Chapter 32: What Feanor Didn't Get (Elladan, Elrohir, Galadriel)

Oooh, those little dickens! What stinkers! And Galadriel's rage--too funny!

Dreamflower · 6 January 2006 · Chapter 8: A Thin Line Between Love and Hate (Denethor)

Oh, what a different interpretation of Denethor's jealousy! Most have him jealous because he suspects who "Thorongil" is, or because he fears Finduilas will be attracted to him, or because he thinks his father likes the stranger better. But that he would envy him because *he's* stuck in the city, while Thorongil gets to go out and do feats of derrring-do...well, let's just say, that quite sounds like the father of Boromir.

Author's reply

Hi, Dreamflower I'm very pleased that you have been reading my short fics, and thanks so much for all your comments. Regarding "A Thin Line Between Love and Hate," my goal was to show that Denethor felt genuinely conflicted about Aragorn. My take on it is that his "jealousy" comes from Aragorn's general excellence AS WELL as Denethor finding out about his true identity. I didn't mean to imply that he was jealous of Thorongil's military successes. Rather, I think that Denethor had his own share of such successes, and that as the Steward's Heir he valued a capable servant like Thorongil. What he didn't like was the "upstart" who might take his seat of power. However, he has genuine respect and admiration for Aragorn's abilities as well as for the House of Elendil. Thus the conflict. G.A.,

Dreamflower · 6 January 2006 · Chapter 24: Bedtime Nightmare (Legolas, Aragorn)

*snerk* That's our Legolas...*giggle*

Dreamflower · 6 January 2006 · Chapter 23: Bedtime Story (Aragorn, Arwen, Eldarion)

LOL! I could just see the little one, strutting around, being "Strider"! How cute!

Dreamflower · 6 January 2006 · Chapter 12: The Hobbit and the Man: All That Is Gold Does Not Glitter

What a nice little take on a possible first meeting of the two. I like this very much.

Raksha The Demon · 3 December 2005 · Chapter 8: A Thin Line Between Love and Hate (Denethor)

I've often felt that Thorongil and Denethor would make great slash partners-er-have felt an urge to friendship-that probably twisted quickly to jealousy on Denethor's part. They had a lot in common, and I don't mean Ecthelion's paternal affection.

Author's reply

I agree. Showing that is exactly one of the goals of this drabble. The challenge was--do it in 100 words!! Interesting relationship, anyway. Thanks for reading. G.A.

shirebound · 14 September 2005 · Chapter 12: The Hobbit and the Man: All That Is Gold Does Not Glitter

How wonderful! It makes perfect sense that Aragorn would consult with Bilbo about Gollum.

Author's reply

Yes, it struck me too that it must have happened that way. After all, Bilbo was the only person who had actually seen him, so Gandalf and Aragorn would have to consult him. It follows, then, that Bilbo was aware there was more to his ring than he at first thought. Thanks for reading!

Larner · 13 September 2005 · Chapter 26: Another Prometheus (OC)

Interesting take thought. Yes, another Prometheus indeed.

Larner · 13 September 2005 · Chapter 30: Gandalf’s No Good, Rotten, Really Bad Day (Manwe, Gandalf, Elrond, Arwen)

Distinctly AU, and yes, it was a BADDDDDDDD day indeed!

Larner · 13 September 2005 · Chapter 32: What Feanor Didn't Get (Elladan, Elrohir, Galadriel)

Yes, what Feanor didn't get but Gimli did the twins stole!

Larner · 13 September 2005 · Chapter 31: Teatime in Rivendell (Bilbo, Legolas, Gandalf)

Oh, hilarious! Revenge can be sweet!

Larner · 13 September 2005 · Chapter 8: A Thin Line Between Love and Hate (Denethor)

Sad.

Larner · 13 September 2005 · Chapter 24: Bedtime Nightmare (Legolas, Aragorn)

Yes, let's make certain the bite is done correctly....

Larner · 13 September 2005 · Chapter 23: Bedtime Story (Aragorn, Arwen, Eldarion)

Yes, having Eldarion pretending to be Gollum and biting the hand of the King of Gondor and Arnor might NOT be a very good idea!
