Darkover · 2 February 2011 · Chapter 39: Bears with Honey (Beornings)

Dear G.A.: These were very enjoyable to read! I believe "Plain Hobbit Sense" and "At the Pig and Thistle" were my favorites. It is good to read fics written by someone who understands Aragorn. Thank you for writing and posting these. Sincerely, Darkover

Larner · 9 January 2007 · Chapter 29: Incarnation (Gandalf, Pippin)

Heh! Poor, poor Gandalf. Oh, I doubt he has that much problem avoiding wine, women, and song; but avoiding bugs and viruses--that's a worse problem! Ah, our favorite Istar!

Author's reply

Are you quite sure he had no problem avoiding such temptations? Thanks for reading! G.A.

Larner · 9 January 2007 · Chapter 10: Clothes Make the Man (Celeborn, Aragorn)

Oh, the beginning of that fateful day when Arwen finally appreciated just how desirable this, her father's youngest and last fosterling from among his brother's descendants. How wonderful!

Author's reply

Personally, I think she started appreciating that much sooner, and didn't really need the fancy suit to figure it out. LOL Thanks for reviewing! G.A.

Le Rouret · 8 January 2007 · Chapter 29: Incarnation (Gandalf, Pippin)

Eeewwww ...

Author's reply

Kinda underlines the Maiar sacrifice, doesn't it? G.A.

Le Rouret · 8 January 2007 · Chapter 36: Hair (Legolas, Gimli)

Ha! Yes, I can imagine hairy bodies would look a bit off to an Elf! Good thing he got used to it. In case you're wondering, yes, I'm enjoying your stories.

Le Rouret · 8 January 2007 · Chapter 33: Alas, for the dying of the trees (Gimli, Legolas)

Yes, I can imagine Gimli wouldn't want to be reminded, wouldn't he? Again, very well done!

Author's reply

Personally, I find Elves a little hard to take sometimes, and I can't but think Gimli felt the same way. G.A.

Le Rouret · 8 January 2007 · Chapter 30: Gandalf’s No Good, Rotten, Really Bad Day (Manwe, Gandalf, Elrond, Arwen)

Oh, this one was perfect! I laughed my way through it, easily envisioning a cringing Gandalf, pissed-off Elrond, and irritated Manwe. "At least he got rid of Sauron" - very funny!

Le Rouret · 8 January 2007 · Chapter 22: Fugitive (Aragorn, OFC)

"You don't know what it's like to be eleven" - I recently heard the same thing from my daughter, only the age was "thirteen." I wish I'd responded in the same way Aragorn did!

Author's reply

I can remember feeling like that! It seemed like I would never grow up, and the adults had never been children. How time flies.... G.A.

Le Rouret · 8 January 2007 · Chapter 20: Work Detail (Aragorn, Arwen)

Also a winner! Brief, restrained, and so, so sexy!

Author's reply

Thanks! I like my sex writing with a lot of innuendo. G.A.

Le Rouret · 8 January 2007 · Chapter 12: The Hobbit and the Man: All That Is Gold Does Not Glitter

I've been ploughing through your ficlets, and I just had to stop at this one to let you know how much I'm enjoying them! They're very well-written, and you manage to convey a lot of thought and emotion in few words. That takes both talent and reticence. Bravo!

Author's reply

Thanks! The relationship between Bilbo and Aragorn is one I really enjoy exploring. G.A.

grumpy · 8 January 2007 · Chapter 10: Clothes Make the Man (Celeborn, Aragorn)

I bet Galadriel had a lot of fun with this. How to dress up a ranger, so he will knock the socks off of her granddaughter.

Author's reply

Galadriel playing matchmaker! You have to wonder what Elrond thought about it. G.A.

shirebound · 8 January 2007 · Chapter 10: Clothes Make the Man (Celeborn, Aragorn)

my granddaughter will have eyes only for the man beneath the cloak, be it kingly or tattered." And he smiled at the mingled hope and surprise in Aragorn's eyes. Very nice. :D

Author's reply

Well, I know what matters to me in a man! It's not his suit. G.A.

harrowcat · 8 January 2007 · Chapter 29: Incarnation (Gandalf, Pippin)

Oh, *snorts in a very unladylike fashion.* *G* I totally agree with Gandalf although I could add a few. And perhaps Manwe should have included overindugence in pipeweed.

Author's reply

I always wondered if that memory lapse before the doors of Moria was a senior moment..... G.A.

harrowcat · 8 January 2007 · Chapter 10: Clothes Make the Man (Celeborn, Aragorn)

Lovely, GA. It is nice to see a Celeborn in agreement with his wife's actions but also feeling with Aragorn. Oh, and congrats on the awards - well deserved.

Author's reply

I always had a problem with the way Tolkien described Arwen's falling in love with Aragorn--as if she chose a suit of clothes. Thus this drabble! Thanks for your kind words on the awards. G.A.

Larner · 16 December 2006 · Chapter 7: Epiphany (Aragorn, Denethor, Ecthelion)

Yes, a moment of epiphany this would well be. Alas that he should come to envy the one who would one day come in just that mode.

Author's reply

thanks for reviewing! G.A.

harrowcat · 16 December 2006 · Chapter 7: Epiphany (Aragorn, Denethor, Ecthelion)

A difficult time for Thorongil! The first suspicion for Denethor? I suspect that Ecthelion already suspects?

Author's reply

I haven't explored Ecthelion's POV yet--that will play a part in a longer story yet to be written. Thanks for reviewing! G.A.

demeter d · 31 October 2006 · Chapter 19: Of the History and Habits of Hobbits (Pippin, Faramir)

It seems only fitting that Hobbits are remembered in history for the very important things; music, dance, food, happiness. Charming!

Author's reply

Hmm, I don't think I got food in there. An oversight! G.A.

Raksha The Demon · 24 October 2006 · Chapter 19: Of the History and Habits of Hobbits (Pippin, Faramir)

Sigh. You've gladdened my Faramirist heart with this quindrabble. Really excellent portrayal of Faramir, showing his thirst for knowledge, his understanding of all the facts and words he stuffs in his head, and his ability to take that knowledge and use it to come up with new concepts as well understanding the old. His recognition that the history of Arnor now belongs to Gondor as the two realms born of Numenor's children unite once more is very typical of the character. I imagine Faramir would be delighted to spend the entire day in the dusty archives; and he'll be even more pleased to have his desire to clean it up carried out - Gondor, coming out of the shadows of war and Mordor's threat, can once more embrace the love of lore. And a hobbit dance with the Steward partnering Pippin - wonderful touch. A great birthday gift, thanx much, G.A.

Author's reply

I always love meeting your birthday prompts! Faramir is a joy to write, especially with Pippin. G.A.

Bodkin · 23 October 2006 · Chapter 19: Of the History and Habits of Hobbits (Pippin, Faramir)

I love the picture of Faramir and Pippin dancing the Springle Ring. And the two of them in the library seeking out hobbit history.

Author's reply

Two of my favorite characters--it's so nice they're friends. G.A.

Larner · 23 October 2006 · Chapter 19: Of the History and Habits of Hobbits (Pippin, Faramir)

Ah, how wonderful the image--finding the illustration in the book and then teaching the dance to Faramir! Oh, a marvel, GA!

Author's reply

and then spreading it throughout the seven circles....thanks for reading! G.A.

Larner · 23 October 2006 · Chapter 27: Envy (Gimli, Legolas, Gandalf)

Hehehehehehehehe! Beard envy?

Author's reply

Personally, I think Tolkien was wrong about beards. Poor Elves.... G.A.

harrowcat · 23 October 2006 · Chapter 19: Of the History and Habits of Hobbits (Pippin, Faramir)

Oh you really have such a gift for turning the mood of a piece. This is marvellous GA. I can just see and smell the dust and to see Faramir learning the Springle-Ring is great!

Author's reply

Thanks! I like the challenge of telling a story in a set length. This one is exactly 500 words--a bit long for a real challenge, but Raksha wanted something specific for her birthday (Faramir on history, languages, music, lore). G.A.

harrowcat · 23 October 2006 · Chapter 27: Envy (Gimli, Legolas, Gandalf)

like a dandelion in a dragon's den. Now that would be strange indeed *g* I am glad that Gandalf told Gimli that it is GOOD luck! I t wouldn't have helped the relationship to tell him the opposite.

Author's reply

Indeed, at this point, the relationship needs a lot of help. But things will soon change. G.A.

Jay of Lasgalen · 22 October 2006 · Chapter 19: Of the History and Habits of Hobbits (Pippin, Faramir)

I've just read this on HASA as well. Lovely ficlet. I particularly love Pippin's comment: “They all have the same name,” Pippin said. “Ar-this, Ar-that, and Ara-something.” “Do you know why?” “Lack of imagination?” Wonderful! And the image of Faramir and Pippin dancing the Springle-ring together (a pretty dance, but rather vigorous) is priceless. Thank you for this. Jay

Author's reply

I've got this image in my head of couples all through the seven circles dancing....sounds fun. Thanks for reviewing! G.A.

lotrgirl1415 · 22 October 2006 · Chapter 19: Of the History and Habits of Hobbits (Pippin, Faramir)

---“Do you know why?” “Lack of imagination?”--- Hahahaha! I loved that lil bit. I also Loved that Faramir learned "The springle-ring"^-^ I thoroughly enjoyed "Of the History and Habits of Hobbits" keep up the great work! --Katie
