This is still as much fun now as it was when you first posted it. Thank you for the laughs. They have been in short supply lately. I love your sense of humor.
Author's reply
Thank you, GW! I always worry that the humor will wear off after the first readings, so I'm honored you still find this funny after all these years.
Don't forget Merry's attempt at revenge - A Day in the Life. :D

Author's reply
Nekkid hobbits are always fun! They get to be innocent, and we get to be anything but!

Hullo Pippinsgirl!
I'm very glad you enjoyed this story! It's always a pleasant surprise to get a new review on an older story and to know that it's still amusing people.

*giggling hysterically* Oh my goodness! Frodo is sooo wicked! LOL! I would so love to see Merry in a dress, especially *that* dress! LOL! And I can just imagine what Pippin is saying right about now!
Sam is a very good babysitter. Can I borrow him the next time Mom asks me to watch my little siblings? And if I can't, do you think he'd be willing at least to teach me his techniques? :) Sometimes I think I'll never learn; most older sisters can manage their crew by sixteen, I should think. Yet Sam manages one of the most active children I can think of with so much ease. I love how he's so elder-brotherly and confiding with Pippin, and of course he doesn't let the supposed fact that Pippin is his "better" get in the way when it comes to looking out for him. I can't wait to read the sequel!
This is a bit random, but reading all these wonderful stories has given me an idea not for one short story, but a whole series! *Ooo!* *ahem* As I was saying, a whole series centering around the Gamgee household. I know at least two (you and Elwen) have done much the same, but I never tire of reading about them, and I need to look more into that in my own universe. I think I'll dedicate it to you, Elwen, and Shirebound, since you've all had a hand in unconsciously urging me to start this. I'm still open to ideas, though, if there's something in particular you'd like. I'll not soon (if ever) forget "A Tale," for stories such as that seem few and far between at times.
God bless,
Galadriel

Frodo is rather wicked, isn't he? He'll pay for this prank later but right now, he's feeling rather smug about himself. :)
Sam has patience coming out of his ears, and that alone will help when it comes to having to babysit a child like Pippin. Frodo told Sam that he was in charge, so Sam had no problems taking the upper hand with his 'betters'. Besides, Sam's sensible enough to know that a child *needs* to be told what to do, not asked.
Hope you enjoy the sequel!
A whole series of Gamgee-centered stories! How lovely. I will look forward to that also. :)

Hahahahahaha! I loved it! Pippin reminds me of a boy i babysit, he's a handful, but still a great kid. I love reading fics where Frodo gets to play pranks, it makes me laugh cause everyone thinks he's so serious!!

Thank you! I'm glad this gave you a laugh. Pippin is quite the handful, so much energy and mischief running through him. But he's a sweetie too which helps. It's hard to be or stay mad at Pippin for anything.
My Frodo is a rascal at heart. No matter how much he may have grown up or how well Bilbo may have taught him to be diplomatic, Frodo will always be willing to play a harmless prank on his cousins. But of course, by keeping them few and far between, he can better catch his cousins off their guard. ;)

Thanks for reading! I'm glad you got a laugh out of this. I'll be writing the sequel here soon and hopefully have it posted within a couple of weeks. Merry won't soon forget this humiliation, lol!

How did I miss this??? Oh, that's beautiful! You know, only you could have drinking, bathing and cross-dressing in a fic and still have it be innocent. ^_- Go Frodo!
Why am I reviewing when I said no more until there was more "Trouble With Love"?
Author's reply
LOL, that's one way to look at it! Hobbits just have a way of making everything seem innocent and harmless, don't they? Frodo certainly reminded Merry who the master prankster is. ~_^

Ah, dear, the image of poor Merry like that has me absolutely guffawing! Pippin had it easy!
Author's reply
Pippin had a pretty cush night compared to poor Merry. He just had to contend with Sam, who did nothing worse than neglect to make afters, lol. Merry will definitely be getting Frodo back for this one, I just don't know how yet. ;)

That was priceless! I loved every minute of it, but Merry's situation at the end was so final stroke of genius! You've outdone yourself with this one. Sam made short work of Pippin and Frodo had the last laugh on Merry. I'm very impressed. Loved it!
Author's reply
Sam knows how to handle Pippin, in a way even his cousins can't seem to manage. Of course, Frodo and Merry are only children and were for the most part raised by themselves, so they missed out on all the things you learn when you have siblings.
Just because Frodo's an adult now, doesn't mean he's forgotten how to have fun. Merry forgets that he learned all his skills from Frodo, but he won't be making that mistake again - not for awhile anyway.
I'm so thrilled you're impressed! I can't come up with just plain funny stories very often, not like you can anyway, so that means a lot to me. And I just may have outdone myself with this one, though the next one I'm planning on posting should be good for a laugh or two also. Ah, Pippin, he just never learns. ~_^

Omigosh, Sam is so much more clever than I am! But I suppose that comes of having so many siblings. What a wonderful story. (And I learned a lot!)
“But I want to wait up for Merry,” Pippin yawned widely, his words barely understandable.
“You’ll see Master Merry come morning, and I suggest you speak softly to him when you do,” Sam said.
This is great. And Frodo is as mischievous as ever. What a treat!
Author's reply
Sam puts us all to shame at times, doesn't he? Coming from a big family, and always being around his friends, who also come from big families, certainly helps him know how to handle kids. And of course, we can't discount his good hobbit sense either.
Frodo likes to remind his cousins every once in awhile who the real prankster in the group is, lol. Merry's going to have a time of it trying to exact his revenge. ~_^
Thanks for reading!

· Chapter 1: Babysitting Pippin
Sam is so good at Pippin-management. Even before(?) he learned bribery. He has distraction down perfectly - and combines it with a dash of firmness and a certain level of immunity to the Look.
And I just love the tradition of getting a young hobbit intoxicated and putting him in a frock. And that Merry was halfway to Frogmorton before he realised. Just so the general torment could spread! (Do they get Pippin when he's old enough? Do they? Or is he wise to them so that he manages to get away with it?)
Mischievous Cousin Frodo deceiving Merry is fun. I wonder how long it took Merry to forgive him? And whether he exacted any revenge?
So many questions! I hope you feel tempted to answer some of them in future stories.
A very enjoyable tale.
Author's reply
Yes, this is pre-bribery. I tried to actually make this the beginning of the bribery deal, but Sam wouldn't cooperate with me. He just refused to do what I was asking him to do, and you know how stubborn he can be.
Sam's always had a special way of dealing with Pippin. His level-headedness, practicality and patience really go a long way in his Pippin-management skills, as you call them.
I'm sure Merry pulled himself together enough to realize he could just ask the driver to pull over so he could change before they got to Frogmorton. Merry and Pippin like to consider themselves the master pranksters, so every once in awhile, Frodo has to step up to the plate to remind them who the *real* prankster is. ;)
Pippin, unfortunately, knows about the tradition now. It's generally kept secret from hobbit lads until the day after, lol. So he won't be so easily fooled. Of course, there is more than one way to skin a cat. And Merry always gets his revenge, he'll just have to think long and hard on what that might be (as will I ~_^ ).
Thanks for reading. I'm glad you got a laugh out of this.

Oh, yippee! Yay!
This is just wonderful!! I am absolutely in love with your Sam-Pippin friendship. Pippin is delightful--devious and curious and talkative--and Sam is so incredibly patient and wise with him.
What a beautiful, beautiful little story!
Author's reply
Thank you so much!
Sam's always had a special way of dealing with Pippin, and his patience goes a long way. Sam sees Pippin a bit like a kid brother, though he of course never forgets that Pippin is one of his "betters" and so treats him accordingly. And you know Pippin; he'll befriend anybody and yammer their ear off if they'll let him.
Thanks for reading!
