That was certainly one vivid dream Merry had. How scary.
The imagery in this story is so sweet. I admit that it is far-fetched, but it is so adorable.
And, no, your last chapter didn't bring back bad memories. I was just impressed that you would add that detail. I was impressed. Yes, I do have first-hand experience. But the memory isn't bad this many years later.:)
Thanks.

Thank you, Connie! In my mind I see this story and "Stars and Sniffles" as oart of a Star-verse. They're not quite an AU but also not quite canon so I think they should have a universe of their own where all the star related events are reasonable :)

Thanks so much! I'm trying to be more descriptive in my writing, so I'm glad you thought the dream was descriptive :) Merry should be feeling better now that the Shadow has been chased away. I'm very happy that you enjoyed this chapter, and thank you for your comments! :)

This is just lovely. What a horrible and frightening dream for Merry, to still be burdened with the Shadow, and how wonderful of Pippin to think of sharing his stars! But of course, that's Pippin, and there's nothing he wouldn't do for his Merry...
Author's reply
Yes, Merry and Pippin really would do anything for each other, and I'm sure Pippin quite enjoyed the fact that he was the one to take charge and look after Merry. I'm very happy that you liked this chapter! Thank you so much :)

For a long time I resisted writing a Cormallen fic because I didn't want it to seem like a rehash of what was already out there. I'm very glad that you're enjoying this. Thanks! :)

Glad to see an update to this.
I must say you have one thing very accurate, and that is the unexpected, sharp pains that happen when a person has had a traumatic injury. Reading those descriptions brought it back to me quite clearly.:)
Thanks again.

Ohhh, how helpless Pippin's friends must feel! They all want to make him all better, and have "their Pippin" back, well and happy and irrepressible as always. I'm glad Pippin is being honest about the fact that he's in pain. And will Strider have time or energy to help Merry with his hand?
Cormallen fics... I do love them.
:D
Author's reply
Yes, they certainly do feel helpless, because Pippin really does need time and rest in order to get better, and there is no way of speeding that up. As for Merry, well, you'll just have to wait and see ;)
Thanks for reading!

Thanks! I particularly love how Tolkien leaves us with so many possibilities as to what happened to Pippin after the troll fell on him. If only he had expanded those ideas! But I guess that is what fanfic is for :)

Such a different take on Pippin at Cormallen. I love Gandalf comforting Merry. There's just not enough Gandalf-Merry in fics to suit me. And I love that when Gandalf asked Merry if he believed Pip about the stars, that he did, and so simply, because he believes his Pip.
Looking forward to more...
Author's reply
For a long time I refused to even consider doing a Cormallen fic, because I didn't want it to be a sort of 'been there, done that' type of story, so your comments here mean a lot to me. I'm thrilled that you think it's different and that you enjoy it! Thanks so much! :)

Thanks, Connie! I think that Pippin and Gandalf have one of the great friendships in LOTR, and I like showing a bit of that in my fics. I'm so happy that you're enjoying this story! :)

I hope the long walk back has not exhausted our Pippin too much, and that he will awake soon!
Don't worry Pippin, soon Merry will be by your side, you just have to wake up :)

Very nice imagery. I also liked the tie-in to your other story.
It certainly is interesting to speculate on just what is going on in the mind of someone as far gone as Pippin was at this point.
I am looking forward to the rest of this story.
Thanks.
