· Chapter 14: To Reach an End
/Larner softly begins singing, "Gil-galad was an Elven king...."
A touching, wonderful moment as he faces the greatest Balrog of them all.... And between them he and Elendil bring Sauron down long enough to lose his Ring, allowing some time of peace, at least, before he rises once more.
Wonderful thoughts from the legendary Elf.

Ah ! Another good Oropher/Thranduil one. Good. By the way, I liked the insight into Haldir's motives for showing up at Helm's Deep and the irony about his death being what happens there. (In your previous drabble, I mean.) And he didn't get to learn about humans.

Ooh, so sad in its foreshadowing--movie-verse-wise, of course! I really liked it. I wanted to drop by. I'll read the rest later. I've written you down in my book. Well, maybe I'll go sample another.

· Chapter 13: The Chase
Yes, one day it shall be Legolas who will be pursued, and whatever siblings were granted to him. And of course a jam-tart was the aim of the child's hunt....
Lovely moment there, and I feel with the servant carrying the dishes!
Author's reply
Thanks! Heehee, it's just a shame Oropher probably never got to see it!
Though he *could* have, hmmm...

· Chapter 12: That Which is Earned
Lovely imagery, with Celegorm so excited he can barely braid his own hair! Thanks for this one!
Author's reply
Thanks! I really wanted to do non-angsty Celegorm for a change! Glad you liked it! :)

· Chapter 11: Shadows of Perfection
The grief of such a loss would be everlasting, I think. Yes, they stole all she had of joy and love, leaving in their place loss and an untenable vow that would seek to destroy all she cared for.
Lovely.

Thank you again for a lovely review. :) I always felt sorry for Nerdanel and I'm glad you enjoyed this look into her pain! (What a strange thing to say!)

· Chapter 10: Conflict
It's so hard to watch those one loves, and particularly parents, do that which we know to be wrong.
Author's reply
It is and I think Maedhros was the first to realise it in his family's case!
Thanks!

· Chapter 5: Fading Hope
OH! You made me cry Lairewen! I haven't read the book since fall 2003 and so the Elrond I hold in my mind is PJ's.... so this is doubly touching! I know the elves were much more emotional than PJ portrayed them, but you kinda forget that. This was very moving to see Lord Elrond as a worried father. I like that kind of stuff.
Lovely "over-drabbles" Lairewen. Onward to the rest!
Author's reply
How odd, I never got the notification for this review!
Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying the drabbles. I always thought PJ's Elrond was too harsh, so I like giving him a bit more feeling ! :)

· Chapter 8: These Letters I Write
Again, excellent imagery. Interesting putting both of those who worked out systems of writing side by side in this manner.
Author's reply
Thank you! It's my personal opinion that they must have had some form of contact, as important as both of them were. :)

· Chapter 9: Regret
The grief of the son who believes he cannot live up to a father's expectations. No, it wasn't just Faramir, was it? And when one loses the faith even of one's hound!
Author's reply
I think there were many 'Faramirs' over the course of history! Faramir himself though, handled it rather better than Celegorm, not letting it destroy him!
Thanks again!

· Chapter 7: The Gift
That's just lovely. Thank you so much, Lairewen, I love it! And spot on for characterization. Thanks!!
Author's reply
Phew! Glad you like it, that's the only trouble with taking requests, you may not see a character the way others do!
You are most welcome!

Sweet! I was wondering whose awakening this was - thought it may be Glorfindel. Oropher was a lovely surprise, and his reunion with Thranduil wonderful!

Thanks Jay, glad you liked it! I have developed a soft spot for Oropher of late!

· Chapter 4: Golden Suns and Silver Moons
They do compliment each other well, don't they? I wish they had left for Valinor together, but I believe they eventually were reunited.
Author's reply
Ack, I just saw that I never replied to this, sorry!
Yes, I think they were a lovely couple and I'm sure Celeborn sailed in the end.
PS: Posted your Faramir drabble today.

· Chapter 4: Golden Suns and Silver Moons
"You are so humble, not seeing your own greatness, only mine. But I see, I know what lies behind your outward calm. A brilliant mind; whose strategies have saved us time and again. A compassionate heart; always thinking of your people. A beautiful soul; that has a connection to the Earth I can only dream of."
How beautiful, and what a wonderful love story in so few words.
Author's reply
Thank you!
I had only intened to write one, but it seemed only natural to show both points of view! :)

· Chapter 3: Maglor's Lament
Beautiful & chilling to think of all that he did without his heart ever being in it.
Author's reply
Thank you, I think that sums up the whole family - beautiful and chilling.

· Chapter 2: This Moment
Not even an ankle-biter yet & already strong - no wonder the reputation. I had to stop myself from trying to read ahead for the identity.
Author's reply
Reading ahead is always a temptation for me too! I've always seen Thranduil - and his father - as strong, otherwise I don't think they could have held the darkness at bay.

· Chapter 1: To Watch and Learn
So often we hear about Men who wish to learn the way of Elves, so it would stand to reason that an Elfling would crave information of mortals. A nice flip & this skill he learned had to be part of what placed him so high in Galadriel's company.
You say you do requests? Does this extend to everyone? (I have yet to include any of my work here). If so, I request happy Faramir & Boromir, Boromir lives, good father Denethor, or Boromir/Eowyn.
Author's reply
It's fascinating, I think, that Haldir was so different from his brothers in that regard. Indeed, maybe that's what brought him to Marchwarden!
Mortals, huh? *Grins* I think I can do something with Faramir and Boromir - just give me a few days! :)
