The trees know who Aragorn is, seem to see him as part of their future as well. Excellent.

In answer to your... answer: Merry definitely was raised in such a way. This chapter was simply amazing. It made me shiver at the begining and now I'm as eager as Frodo to get back into the Old Forest and reveal the secret of the trees. Thanks for that dream! That reminded me of something I almost forgot in my German story - the sea.
TheHobbitWaffle · 25 June 2005 · Chapter 7: Summoned
Could I contentedly snuggle down with scamp and wait for the story to progress? Oh boyOhboyOhboyOh! Frodo!! HAH! Hee heee hah!! See Shirebound! You made me lose my grasp on Grammar!
Tigger · 25 June 2005 · Chapter 7: Summoned
YIKES!! This is interesting and Bilbo's right too. Yes, *Halbarad* was able to sleep off the effects, but he was in The Old Forest at the time. Frodo's outside of it and who knows what might happen. Interesting twist that the trees are trying to give Aragorn a message and I have a feeling it has everything to do w/those bones. Looking forward to the next chapter very eagerly!!! :o)
Pearl Took · 25 June 2005 · Chapter 7: Summoned
"Merry sighed, and nodded. “Good lad. See that Halbarad rests, and that Thalguron doesn’t go hungry, all right?” “Go hungry?” Thalguron asked in amazement. " LOL LOL I love this chapter. Frodo seeing what we know is the truth, Bilbo saying "let's go", Merry again being the young gentlehobbit and taking care of the guests. I also just love his wondering if Estell knows any songs and stories in case Frodo needs comforting. Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!
Andrea · 25 June 2005 · Chapter 7: Summoned
"Burglar! Frodo thought suddenly. I’m a Baggins, aren’t I? Bilbo stole the trolls’ purse, and the Elves’ keys, and dragon treasure, and Gollum’s... He stared at the door, his heart pounding with a sudden excitement. I could borrow Bilbo’s ring." Wow, that must have been a strong spell! Frodo would never have thought of such a thing, now would he? I love Bilbo in this chapter! He would never allow it to have his boy tied to anything - except himself! I hope you get my meaning! Sometimes English is a little difficult ;-) Anyway, I'm curious to know, what it was that Frodo found in the Old Forest!
pebbles66 · 25 June 2005 · Chapter 7: Summoned
Oh, dear. I'm not so sure that it's a good idea to take Frodo back to the Forest right now. He did have that certain "gleam" in his eye. I hope Aragorn and Bilbo can keep hold of him!
Gentle Hobbit · 25 June 2005 · Chapter 7: Summoned
I liked how you avoided the cliche of Frodo escaping through that window. The Rangers did not fail in keeping him from escaping! I also enjoyed Thalguron'a amazement of the very idea of his going hungry! And I'm looking forward to seeing what the trees have to communicate to Frodo (and... I love your bringing in the dream of the Sea into it!)
SlightlyTookish · 25 June 2005 · Chapter 7: Summoned
Oooh, I loved Frodo's dream and his ability to understand the trees! His vision of Aragorn was just lovely. I really like Bilbo here, insisting to go with Frodo, and how Aragorn calmed Frodo. I love their friendship :)
Elwen · 25 June 2005 · Chapter 7: Summoned
It's fascinating to see a foreshadowing of Frodo's ensorcelment by the ring here in his communication with the trees. The way they had him all wrapped up for a while there was quite scary. Thank goodness for Aragorn. And I see Bilbo has lost none of his thirst for adventure.
Breon Briarwood · 25 June 2005 · Chapter 7: Summoned
Ooh, the plot thickens! Interesting idea to have him understand the trees. Very curious now to find out what it was that he found with the bones.
Auntiemeesh · 16 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Keeping Secrets
I'm curious to see how Frodo's response to the poison of the thorns will be different from Halbarad's, since Frodo isn't actually in the Old Forest. As always, I love the gentleness and respect that Aragorn shows the hobbits, and I'm glad the other Rangers are getting to meet the hobbits through Aragorn's guidance. Now I can look forward to a little of that Frodo h/c that you do so well. :D
Elwen · 15 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Keeping Secrets
OK. You get to keep the Frodohealers badge. This is warming up nicely. :)
Breon Briarwood · 15 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Keeping Secrets
HAH! That's right, go ahead and lock the doors and think he can't get out of the window. Frodo's a very resourceful hobbit.
Lily Baggins · 15 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Keeping Secrets
I love the fact that no matter what serious happenings are going on, your hobbits are always hobbits and are always concerned with the most important thing in life: food! Halbarad's reactions to all of this are hysterical---oh, to be on the receiving end of hobbit-care . . . Well, at last we have my favorite thing---a dizzy, near-fainting Frodo. I can't help but wonder greatly what future chapters will bring. Hobbit cuddling, I'm certain. Great chapter as always!
Gentle Hobbit · 14 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Keeping Secrets
Hmmm... I join the others in thinking that Frodo is not going to be kept from leaving that room if he wants to leave it. The window may be difficult, but not impossible to open... Now, however, you've got me considering the title of this fic. Do we get to hear some secrets whispered by the forest through Frodo? I can imagine that your plentiful imagination could come up with all sorts of curious things.
Pearl Took · 14 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Keeping Secrets
So cute, asking if Merry is a servant ;) No, just a lad who knows how to be a good host and is "to the mannor (smial) born". If Gandalf dubs Pippin the "worst" of the inquisitive hobbits, than he must be hard to bear indeed!! hehehe but the young are always inquisitive, one of the things I like best about them. Wonderful as always, dear friend :)
Tigger · 14 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Keeping Secrets
Oh good!! I'll warn my parents to be on the lookout for a scruffy Ranger and an adorable puppy then. ;o) I love how Halbarad and his brother wanted to answer Frodo's questions about Aragorn, but weren't sure how far to go w/out breaking their oath. Not to fear though, w/Aragorn's permission, they were fine. Loved how Aragorn suddenly found the ceiling so interesting too. *snicker* Merry's certainly going to make a fine Master of Buckland if his care of Halbarad is any indication. He saw the Ranger needed food and w/a hobbit around, that's one thing that won't be lacking. :o) Uh oh...The effects of the thorns have begun and Scamp has joined Frodo and Merry. She w/out a doubt knows where she's needed, doesn't she? I hope what is to come doesn't give them too much to handle and I hope it doesn't scare Merry too much. Now update w/the next chapter!!! Soon!!! Please? (See, I said please...) :o)
Ariel · 14 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Keeping Secrets
Oooo! And we get to it! hehehehe! Yes, this is what I like; wee Fro angst! Bravo, my dear!
Anonymous · 14 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Keeping Secrets
This is wonderful. I love your Merry, and his being so attentive to Halbarad, and the dialog is perfect. I can almost hear their voices speaking. And you built the tension so well, with Frodo falling ill, and now we must wait for new of his condition, and hope they can keep him safe. Lovely chapter.
Mysterious Jedi · 14 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Keeping Secrets
I'm afraid I'd be fat if I lived in the Shire. It would be so tempting to be gluttonous! Those poor Rangers had better see Frodo well and get out of there, or they may lose their ability to be light on their feet through miles of woods! <>< Saved from sin through Christ, MJ
EllyBaggins · 14 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Keeping Secrets
and the frodo angst kicks in! something tells me the others won't find it as easy as keeping an eye on him! lol! well, at least he has the best ranger in the world by his side (and the best dog too!)
Andrea · 14 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Keeping Secrets
“Don’t forget what a mighty warrior he is,” Thalguron added, amused by the fact that Aragorn seemed suddenly to find the ceiling most interesting. LOL! Well, they did everything to lock Frodo inside the house, but still, there is this window. At the moment I have no idea where this will lead to. But I like surprises :)
harrowcat · 14 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Keeping Secrets
Mea Culpa! I don't appear to have left you a review for the last chapter - and there I was doing my best to be a good reader. Sorry I slipped up! Does anyone *really* think that Fodo is going to stay in that room - even if the window is hard to open? And *what's he got in his pocketses? We wonders, yes we does my prescousss!*
esamen · 14 June 2005 · Chapter 6: Keeping Secrets
Hmm. On my second read, I'm noticing that window in Frodo's bedroom. Hard to open, eh? ;-) I'm guessing that I know where this is leading . . . Well, when Frodo suffers a whole, whole lot, and Aragorn and Bilbo have to work hard to keep him alive, I happily follow where you lead! Carry on, I'm right behind you!
