SlightlyTookish: I always reread your stories with so much pleasure! Last year I read this vignette for the MEFA's, but today I happened to re-read it again and enjoying it so much! Again :) I just love the loving teasing between the cousins and Sam's careful answers not to hurt everyone's feeling. But then, just so perfectly Sam when he observes the three with Aragorn:"Sometimes they're even worse." That is so well-timed and so fitting! So hobbity and so incredibly well written. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much Rhapsody! I'm so delighted that you enjoyed this story enough to re-read it. That's a great compliment to me! I enjoyed writing the bantering cousins and careful Sam, and also bewildered Aragorn, wondering what he had got himself into. Thanks so much for your lovely review, I really do appreciate it! :)

Very nice! I did like Frodo's description for his cousins well done, and in Gandalf's voice through Frodo ;) If that makes any sense at all. The end though with them not wanting Frodo to be mad was very sweet, made me all teary. Thank you!

Thank you, Hai! I'm really glad you enjoyed this. It was fun to write a teasing Frodo for a change. Thanks for reading! :)

I love all hobbitses, even (and especially) when their teasing each other! I'm glad you liked this. Thanks, Armariel! :)
Grey Wonderer · 28 March 2005 · Chapter 1
That was very funny. I loved how Merry and Pippin weren't actually sure if Frodo was teasing or not. The moment between Sam and Aragorn was cute too. I liked how Sam could tease with Aragorn but not with the others. He felt like he had to stay out of the family teasing but it was alright to have a jest with Aragorn.
Author's reply
You're exactly right! Sam didn't want to get involved this time, especially when he saw that Frodo was handling the situation himself. I'm so happy that you liked this, and thought it was funny. Thanks! :)

Most wonderful!! This is a charming picture of our hobbits :) And good old Sam, gotta love him :)
Author's reply
Yes, Sam didn't want to touch that argument with a ten foot pole! I'm very glad you enjoyed this - it's fun to write about the hobbits early on in the quest. Thanks for reading! :)
Saoirse · 28 March 2005 · Chapter 1
LoL. "Sometimes they're even worse." Poor Sam. (Poor Merry and Pip ill repute and a chatterbox -- at least Frodo didn't say *not* fairer than most, I'm sure than would have ruffled them.) Great job!
Author's reply
LOL, you're right, Merry and Pippin would have been *most* insulted if Frodo dared to doubt their handsomeness! I'm glad you enjoyed this - Thanks, Saoirse! :)

Lovely little interlude, I must say. Thanks for the laugh, though my sore throat and cough don't quite join it. Fighting the crud--once again. Keep up the good work.
